    About Sew Sew Live
    Hi I'm Saremy!
My sewing style is a combination of garment industry factory floor speediness combined with some of the nice details of home sewing. It's not about being fast but about being efficient and confident. There's more than one way to get there!
Check out my Welcome video pinned to my landing page to see a glimpse of my background and experience. Currently I like sewing live with you, helping with your projects, talking construction, fit, pattern drafting and all things in between. Everyone is welcome here! No matter your ability, size, race, religion, orientation, or gender. All curious humans are welcome here! Why do I do this? I just want to share the skills I've learned over the years while I continue to learn even more!
    Sponsors
Are you a fabric store or pattern company and you'd like to promote a pattern and/or fabric? I can sew your project live and you'll have How-To videos for your customers. We really appreciate patterns that include as many sizes as possible! Currently there is no cost except sending the project following my guidelines. Once I cut and sew it live on camera you get the project back in the size you requested. If you want to make a donation that would be much appreciated since ad revenue on UA-cam is pretty tiny. For those little white spots that look awkward in size in places I just use an ultra fine sharpie in either blue or black for denim. You’ll never remember it was ever a concern.

I’ve done this on webbing when I use a cream bobbin and black top thread!

The instructions have the lower welt facing notch being reversed from the upper, but I see that the open pocket is symmetrical when the facing are sewn in place-thanks, for showing this done not according to instructions; there are quite a few glitches in the manual.

Glad the video helped! The instructions are translated so I think that’s partly what seems different. They’re overall pretty great though. And lots of mens wear.

Love this video. That type welt is a new one for me. I will definitely give it a try. I have a thought and would appreciate knowing what you think about it. Something that I've noticed on RTW. For men's pants, is a sewn-on fly superior to a cut-on fly. The fly on women's pants is used only for putting the pants on and off. However, a guy's hand will be going in and out of his fly several times a day while the waistband is closed. My thought is that the stitching and extra layers of fabric of a sewn-on fly helps it maintain strength and reduce stretching the opening.

Well I do love an experiment! Do you think you’d ever try two pairs of pants with this detail and see how they fair? 😀 the seam adds bulk but I’m not sure one Vs. the other would be a major difference in wear but it could depend upon the fabric. Now I’m going to investigate my husbands pants and shorts. One note, a seam can also be a point of weakness- it has been perforated with the needle and the thread can wear down. It’s thicker so the hand could scrape it more which could lead to wear. But a fold could be too thin and with time also be worn through. It’s interesting to think about!

Just really wanted a straight forward tutorial.

Well you’re in luck! This company hired me to make a tutorial and you’ll be able to watch it soon. And don’t worry I won’t be chatting your ear off. This isn’t a tutorial nor is it advertised as one. It’s a live stream! And you’re welcome to come and hang out and talk sewing or ask questions during any live stream. We’re really nice! Or use any of the tips I give in the opening to make it faster, skip to the step you want or just hang out and sew with me at the same time you sew yours. I do this for free. Happy sewing!

@@SewSewLive sorry for being cranky. You do it your way, and I hope you have a great weekend. Didn't realize you were live, sorry again.

I appreciate your reply. Thanks! We’re real people! Have a great weekend and I hope you get your Chinos done! And like I said, watch for a tutorial for these from wardrobe by me. It’ll be for the Hepburn pants but they sew identically. (And no talking 😏)

I get it! I totally do. 🙂 But have you ever thought about telling the pattern company that? Whatever I put on UA-cam I hope is helpful or enjoyable. But I dont advertise it as a tutorial. If you need one, maybe the pattern company should be helping their customers more. I guess what I’m saying is, why be upset with me? I didn’t make the pattern, ya know? It’s a sew through not a tutorial. I do hope you’ll join us when we’re live some time though. It’s a fun crowd and you can ask questions or just watch.

I guess you edited your original comment. I didn’t realize that. And this latest reply was in reply to that since it looked ‘new’ on my end.
