    Some points I have learned in my male pattern baldness life:
    Rogain is linked to heart palpitations. My cardiologist told me to stop using it.
    Laser therapy from hair max made my hair fall out way more.
    Finasteride and dht blockers make your sex drive lower. Studies on mice show penile shrinkage. Humans complain about permanent shrinkage. Higher dht in male mice caused female mice to be way more attracted to the male mice than low dht male mice.
    Hair transplants need to be very high end and expensive to work, and they often do not work even when expensive. And you have to get them done sometimes repeatedly and use dht inhibitors continually (which can cause problems as mentioned above).
    Trust me, I tried it all or got scared of the side effects. I really want to keep my hair bad but I am just letting it go. Focusing on fitness and keeping my skin young looking. My grandpa was a war veteran, depressed, smoking 2 packs a day maniac… and had full hair until he died from lung cancer at 75. There seems to just be no rules to it.

      i ve been taking, fin for the past 8 months alongside minoxidil and i have 0 side effects. and fin doesnt shrink ur dick , thats absolutely wrong, and those rodent studies use far more finasteirde then the recommended doze, its the equivalent of a human taking from 300 mg to 1000 mg. the fin dosage use is just 1mg and often people use less then this.

    Fellas in the comments, my dad went through Male Pattern Baldness, and always wore a cap. He found out that in Turkey (the country) they do hair transplants for roughly $2,000-$3,000. He did it and got 5,000 hairs on his head for $2000. His confidence went up and there’s a big difference. If you want to invest a maximum of $4,000 for your hair back, GO TO TURKEY.

    MPB is terrible when it comes to dating. I used to have no problems with the opposite sex, but in just a couple of years I went bald, and now I rarely get noticed. And this has nothing to do with my confidence. When I'm wearing my cap I get looked at all the time. When I'm wearing no cap, there's no looks whatsoever. I never knew that being invisible could feel so horrific. But that's what MPB does. As if men didn't already have enough to deal with. Hopefully future medicine can kick this useless evolutionary trait in the arse.

    Happy Friday, Dr. Dray! This video is so so helpful. Can't wait for the female one! Biotin and laser brush works great, btw.

    • @mcpay480
      @mcpay480 7 років тому

      It's a brush that emits a laser. I don't know much more than that. It's FDA cleared. It doesn't hurt. It doesn't work on certain pattern loss. I experienced growth, albeit somewhat finer hair, and combined with biotin chewables, my hair has definitely filled in and is thicker/fuller. I'm female, but it did work on a male in the family. I do believe the biotin really improved the quality of my hair though. I take the kind Dr. Dray uses, 2 tabs 10,000 or 5,000 mcg., I alternate.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +3

      thanks! no, as i said, low laser light therapy has not been demonstrated to be effective; biotin can help prolong the growing stage of the hair cycle but will not slow down or alter the course of male pattern baldness

    Hello there, looking forward to the women's baldness next week. My mom is almost 80 so I don't know about hormones now. She's got very fine hair so last night, when I tried to get her to use a sheet maks for the first time, which was great! by the way, I told her about using a T-shirt for her hair towel just as she was holding one. This might help her frizzies with her fine, fine hair. I'm loving Hilary's tomato and Kalamata dressing. Thanks for suggesting it. Hope you had a nice day at the clinic. Just ordered a new sunscreen that is coral reef safe too! Looking forward to trying it. I mentioned the importance of sunscreen just this morning to a lady at the doctor's office. The best treatmentment for my hair loss is to just own it. I have my barber cut my hair short. Very short. I get it cut every two weeks. I cut my hair short so it does not emphasize what I do not have on top. Ever take art or photography? Composition is how it works.

      I'm a big fan of Edgar Casey "The Sleeping Prophet." I'm not sure if you've ever heard of him? He passed away in the 1940's I believe. In a trance state he also said that castor oil would help with hair loss. I've never tried it but wondering if a clinical trial was in fact ever done? Many of his cures were unconventional but effective. There is a center in Virginia beach named for him and I believe his work is archived there. Thanks for these video's. I have learned a lot!

    Great video Dr. Dray! I've used oral finasteride 1 mg (Propecia) and minoxidil 5% (Rogaine) for years with much success. They seem to have a synergistic effect when used together. I also want to mention PRP therapy as a potentially effective treatment that can achieve significant results. It tends to be quite pricey, but it can be a great alternative for those who cannot tolerate medication and/or are not ready to undergo a hair transplant procedure.

      Dr Dray I haven't actually gotten the PRP treatment myself. I find the results from medication to be sufficient. But Dr. Robert Bernstein (pioneer of the FUT and FUE procedures) who I originally saw now performs this at his clinic. My question is about Dutastride vs Finastride. Can you compare and contrast the two especially when it comes to prevention of hair loss and regrowth potential of the two meds.
    Is it true that Dutastride is A) Stronger and B) Does a better job in targeting and inhibiting 5a-Reductase in the scalp when compared to Finastride which more general and weaker?

    One thing I've observed is that if you look at men's receding hairlines it always follows the physical features of your forehead, ridges etc, also none receding hairlines apply, this means there is a close relationshop with headshape and our hair, i personally believe MPB is at least partially due to cranial development, notice how many men with good heads of hair have more boxy heads, square foreheads, i wish there was done some clinical studies on this.

    Dr Dray! It is great this topic is being covered by a physician rather than a myriad of anonymous internet experts and individuals purporting a certain agenda. I think for men affected by a androgenic alopecia, a significant cause for concern is the use of the medication finasteride, considering the possibility for systemic effect. It has been reported, often anecdotally, a number of side effects associated with finasteride usage; ie brainfog, loss of libido, hormons dysregulation..etc. I was wondering if you could address these issues as well as finasteride dosing?

I am a woman in my forties who was prescribed spironolactone for acne but have thinning of my hair especially at the temples which I started noticing about seven years ago. I have been on the spironolactone for almost three months. I’m wondering if the spironolactone will help or could potentially harm my hair growth?? Thanks!!! I absolutely love all your videos!!

    I heard hair loss can be caused by stress as well. I suddenly started shedding more hair than usual a week after my parents went to Mexico. Can that be the cause or am I experiencing male pattern baldness? Most of my uncles and my dad typically experience it in their 40s. I did setup an appointment with a dermatologist to see what they say but I'm growing worried as the days go by.

    I don't understand the logic behind minoxidil, u said minoxidil is use to treat blood pressure, but why do others claim that in order to growth hair u need to do exercise for blood circulation in the head. Like head stand, oil massaging.

All these sport can accelerate the process of the alopecia ? The weightlifting causes increase of testosterone so this can be a problem? thank you for your attention

    Hi Dr Dray! Thank you for this informative video! I am looking forward to your video on Rogain and Finesteride. I am 27 year old male, and I have started to experience gradual thinning of my frontal hair. I have been using Rogain (applying every night in the affected areas) since last 5 months but have not seen any positive results yet. Am I doing anything wrong? Makes me question its efficacy! I have read extreme reviews of finasteride for hair fall control and regrowth. It's potential side-effects (physical, sexual, and psychological) scares me to death! I would love to know your take on the subject matter. I have also read a lot about laser treatments, but I am unsure how well they will work. Hair transplant seems too intrusive and expensive. Are their any other preventative measures to control male pattern hair loss. Thanks again for the awesome video!

    I do agree that MPB can cause depression, Low self esteem etc. I have had Hair Transplants dating back to the 1980s and will say when done improperly and it happens even today the scalp can be disfigured. I have had to have 12 corrective surgeries and still do not have a full head of hair. I used Minoxidil dating back to the 1980s and truly it has been a disappointment to me. I do use the laser cap and can tell you it definitely makes my hair look fuller. I have also used Propecia and Avodart and in my case I did not see a difference after two years of being on it. I now use a Topical Finesteride ( Propecia) which I will try for 6 months to see its effectiveness. Truly there needs to be a cure for this . It disfigures a person and all the Banana oil of how it does not matter is just that. Banana oil!

    Hi Dr. dray, would you consider doing a video on cold sores (herpes). I live in Florida and like you, we had a few stressful hurricane days. Unfortunately, my lip erupted which had not happened in over 5 years. I immediately went to Walgreens and the pharmacist steered me towards a Walgreens brand product stating it was just like Abreva. When it wasn't getting better I did a little active ingredient research and they were not alike at all. I feel like I lost crucial time in the very beginning applying something useless. What do you recommend?

Is there any fix to this or anything to do because I am very worried that I have nothing to do about this and I wouldn't want to be bald by the age of 20 :((

    I think lsd makes this issue go away, even with chemical and sun damage. It could be more simply proven to do this in a clinical trial than some of the other wild claims people make. It would be pretty simple to measure if it works or not also, way less psychology... it does have side effects tho, which amalgamate to "I feel pretty good but cause my hair grew back"

    I have very fine thin hair I tried to take biotin and I lost a lot it fell out in clumps. Come to find out it was effecting my thyroid. So I quit taking the biotin and it is finally slowly growing back.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +4

      I hope your thyroid is okay! I recently learned that biotin supplements actually can cause the lab test for thyroid function to appear abnormal, when in fact the thryoid is fine, but the supplement screws up how the test works...if that makes sense. With thyroid, however, better to be safe and not keep taking it, as thyroid disease is no small potatoes.

      Well unsurprisingly, it doesn't exactly convey health to see your scalp hair falling apart, after all there are health issues related to hairloss, I've been researching this for a whole but pattern baldness is very strange considering it's an unwanted trait that survived for thousands of years but for what, why does this let's just say trash sets of genetic attributes even exist in the first place?

    Doc, can you help me here?
    I dont have anyone in my family as far as my grandparents of both sides that have baldness. Yet im the only one with receeding hairline and thinning hair. Does that mean my hairloss is not genetic??
    By the hairline i can see many tiny baby hairs which are likely my old hair that got shrinked. And if i stop using anti dandruff shampoo, my scalp got flaky and and itchy and spreads over time. If i continue using it. It’s fine. I once got a dermatologist telling me it’s fungal infection causing the hairloss. And another dermatologist was stubborn enough not to hear my sayings and just ruled that i got baldness in my genetics from family history before i really finish talking.
    Can you help me think of a possible cause?

      I would look into platelet rich plasma therapy. It hardly worked for me because I'm a guy, but it appears to be more effective for females. And naturally, see your dermatologist, as they may have more practical advice. If that isn't an option, consider dermarolling and low level laser therapy.
