    It almost sounds like a samurai soundtrack. I imagine large bamboo trees all around, cicadas chirping, wind blowing, leaves rustling, and you and me, walking towards each other with paintball guns :P good playing mate!

    Thank you for the guide. i want to learn how to play dizi. I've been thrilled at soundtracks played in some Wuxia dramas. It followed that I am curious as to what kind of flute they used for those soundtracks and I did some research. Thanks again for the tips.

    Thank you for this video! I live in the U.S. and I didn't know whether to buy bamboo or buy wood. I bought wood, but wasn't sure if I should've. I'm glad you mentioned the difference in climate and why wood is more suitable for this area. And thank you for the guidance! :) I can't wait to get started!

    Hi there!
    I'm living in Taiwan and I got to a music shop,having Soo much choice of flutes and being me at that time still unable to blow more than some improvised note
    I bought an f key flute wiCH looks great for bringing around everyday to play outside
    Well that said, Id like to say that I enjoy the spirit u put in this videos very much and apreciate the unformal tips too
    Do you think an f key was that bad of a choice?
    I like it pretty much but I must say I find myself dizzy very fast trying to do the higher pitch notes
    Thanks for ur attention and ur help!!
    Cheers

    What if the dizi is plastic. And why did you start playing the dizi? Also your extremely good at playing it. I'm quitting beri-sax, the supplies was for it was EXPENSIVE, to play a dizi so hopefully I'm good at it.

    If you're stuck on using tape, but want good demo-like sound out of it, you can try using kapton tape. It's for soldering and whatnot, but it's got a similar effect to the demo.

    Hey there, I am really enjoying all your video's. I just bought my first Dizi and you really give the best info about the Dizi. I have a question:
    I hear in this video you use a reverb sound effect with your Dizi, what recorder did you use? What program did you use to make that reverb effect?
    Also, what does a plugable Dizi means?

    • @Chiinnature
      @Chiinnature  9 років тому +2

      Vortrex99999 um.. the recorder or device I use is a fancy one, but you can record with other stuff and do the same thing .. what you need is adobe soundbooth, and I am using the CS5 version, you can get that reverb done very easily, but the program is VERY pricy
      pluggable dizi are the sectioned dizi, those you can pull apart into 2 parts or even 3

    • @Vortrex99999
      @Vortrex99999 9 років тому

      Chiinnature Thanks, I have another question. I have many chinese (studio) songs with lots of Dizi solo's in it. But sometimes I hear a very awesome technique/sound coming from the dizi. So I looked up and find out it was called flutter-tonguing. Well that's how western flute people call it. Here is an example: youtu. be / 0NrVkl9_B6w?t=1m53s (remove the spaces)
      Listen until exactly 2:16, then you hear that sound. It really resembles a pack of birds like the ancient Dizi was meant to sound.
      So I was wondering, because nobody does this in live music with the Dizi; do you know someone who can do it? Or a live video from someone who does that sound?

    I got a black dizi from a nice guy's business in china and I put clear tape on it, but mine does not sound like yours naturally. I might have issues with air, but it just does not make that instant melow soft tone that you make? what do you think? :(

  • @TomasReo

    Wow :O I though that dimo is necessary for producing sound. Getting a pack of membranes is quite tricky in my region (well, paying shipment which is actually nearly more than three times as expensive as a single pack is the only way how to get it), so I hesitate about getting dizi and learning to play it. If it is really possible to produce a good sound with just a regular sticky tape, I would say my dizi is on the way :3 Thank you for your videos, the are really helpfull. And one more thing, could somebody give me a better tip about that tape? Like if it should be strechy, or not, thin, or something more like an electrical wiring tape... :D

    • @Chiinnature
      @Chiinnature  9 років тому

      +Tomáš Kučera use a normal tape and cover that hole, it works and will produce a very nice sound too, the kind of tape you need is the normal cheap tape and not the fancy thick ones or anything like scotch tape.. keep it cheap!

    I just got a dizi yesterday in the mail and I tried setting it up as soon as I could. I think I've managed to set up the dimo correctly because I can make good sounds. I've already managed to figure out how to play the higher notes and now I can carry basic tunes. I don't actually know if I'm doing it right, but I've managed to make good (?) sounds, so I think it's okay?
