Also known as the Chinese Flute, the Dizi is an important part of any Chinese orchestra. Producing a shrill and bright tone, it's instantly identifiable.
As part of LessonsGoWhere's SG50 celebrations, we're honoured to work with the talented musicians from Eason Music School, to bring you a video introduction to the traditional Chinese musical instrument, the Dizi.

I purchased my dizi from a little shop in Hong Kong China. but I can't seem to get it to maintain a sound. I know how to apply the dimo and tune it. but this larger size is giving me a lot of trouble. my smaller one C plays fine but the F key is not playing properly? could there be something wrong with the blow hole?!

Probably same technique as western flutter tongue. When you blow the air you roll your tongue at high frequency. Tongue trills. Like rolled r's when you say perro in Spanish. or when you imitate a cat purring.
