In case anyone doesn't realize, it's all indoor because it is supposed to replicate ship life as much as possible. Constantly indoor, closed quarter. The PT could still be much harder than it is, but the emphasis is on academic training. Many of the A schools are tougher than this physically.
Ashley Tillott Not true. It's indoors cause it's in the 30 almost year round here. It's may 2017 and it's still a high of 45-50 cause RTC sits right next to the lake
Are you really trying to say is in the 30's most of the year? Stop giving false information. Welcome to Il. I have 40 year sin IL and 5 years employment at great mistakes. you forgot to mention that the winter of 2015 and 2016 were in the 50 most of the time sometimes as high as the 70's DURING WINTER so spare us with the false info
I trained recruits from 1978 to 1981 then retired. What I've seen so far in these videos, it is a lot more interisting. Now I'm just a retired 75 year old chief gunners mate. I wish I could go back to boot camp.
People see the medicine balls and the punching bag and laugh but don’t realize it’s preparing you for battle stations, the navy prepares you for things you’ll encounter. They don’t spend time on exercises that don’t matter in training.
On these video's I have seen a lot of "our BCT PT was harder", but in all reality the different services PT is designed by the general job. Being on the ground in the dirt is different than being on a steal ship or on an air base.
To people who are arguing over them doing PT indoors chill because they just do the PFA and what not in freedom hall which is the big gym with the track other PTs are in the barracks and depending on the season you go to boot, you do go outdoors on occasions.
barracks used to be much smaller. we were pretty limited on what we could do in the compartment so most of it was outside which sucked in great lakes in september.
The worst part was jumping off the platform, doing the 5 minute float and swimming for 50 feet. Especially for a guy like me who could barely swim, and sank like a rock. In '88, they had 4 classes of swimmers. I barely made 4th class (5 minute float only), then in the middle of boot, the Navy eliminated 4th class, and required us to go back and redo the 5 minute float and 50 feet swim. To qualify for 3rd class swimmer.
I played BBall in high school and the PT was easy. Not having freedom to go where you want, do what you want and when you want is what is difficult. If you are in athlete the PT is the least of your problems. That being said the entire experience wasn't "easy", but I am sure it is much less difficult than the Marine Corps or Army Basic Training. Just my two cents. I hope it helps for those considering joining.
You do, they just start you off with basically fake weapons first; It helps people learn how to properly handle a firearm without the chance of it going off before they know what they're doing.
You guys gotta keep in mind this is what the Navy releases for people who are thinking of joining to see. Plus, this is an integrated division which gets it easier. I graduated last August, and I was lucky I was in a normal division that got spec warfare RDC's. they beat our laundry PO til he shit himself lol. Remember this is almost like propaganda, making it look easy
Luke Sevi I can assure you the integrated get beat just as hard if not harder than the all male divisions. After graduation I talked to the male divs in my training group and according to them we were beat twice as much and twice as hard as an integrated div
If you were in any program in school: Football, Band, Basketball, Soccer, etc... I think it's just as much "PT" as they are doing here. Besides.. don't the recruiters PT them before going to bootcamp?
Yeah you can definitely see that part shinning through the hard work at the 2 minute mark. Like you can tell its intense and if i had to guess that goes on for an hour or two right? Im a shot-putter in high school but on fridays we do P.T training along with the runners and its about as hard maybe a little less.
George Hoyle you'll be fine, basic is more so, folding clothes, and coursework than it is exercising. Your RDC's will make sure you get in shape, how much effort you put in is all that really matters. Just realize that once u ship off to bootcamp, this is the start of your new life, take it serious. Again, youll be fine.
physically challenging my ass!! weeks 4-8, I would sometimes get in trouble just for the workout. The "p.t" there was a joke. God i wish I had joined the Marines instead.
***** idiot it's supposed to be like if you were on a ship, its the NAVY not the army. Also, it gets into the negatives in Great Lakes. I'd like to see you PT outside while it's snowing. With your poor grammar you shouldn't even be talking down.
Do they still make it rain? We use to get worked until the sweat would steam off of our heads, condense on the ceiling, then rain back down on us. So much has changed about boot since I went that I was wondering if that still occurred.
I hated the padding they had on the floor where we had to take a knee.. Not nearly as bad as the one in battlestations between assignments, but man my knees where get destroyed on those matts lol
+Carlos Stroud pepper spray is not OC spray.... OC spray is called Satan's piss for a reason it's much much worse! in the navy your not allowed to work or do anything physical until after 24 hours of getting sprayed bc that's how bad it is
The Navy's boot camp is a mental challenge. The physical portion is a joke. But that's just boot camp, it's not the Navy entirely. Also, you have to keep in mind that these videos are family friendly.
We never got holster training. And if i remember correctly trainer behind us kept gun in hand at all times...... just in case. Boot camps the shit now. Lmao
wow. This seems really really easy. My High School Swim Team does harder workouts than this everyday. I'm actually afraid of losing strength and stamina when I go to bootcamp
NJROTC cadets can finish a mile in a half in 12 minutes c'mon now raise the bar higher, put it under 9 at the most minutes lol, this is a piece of cake.
Hey, this is probably random, but I wanted to point out that I have seen a post on social media that says "Emos are braver than soldiers." My grand father, father and uncle were in the military and I myself plan to join the Navy when I am out of school and I'm not offended, I'm confused because y'all are the ones that allow them the right of even being a fucking emo. I myself am currently a life scout on the BSA and working on my eagle badges and project so I have a HUGE sense of respect for the country and would do anything I can to serve it. I wanted to point it out to y'all so that if you ever see any bullshit like that anywhere, you can let them know who keeps their sorry ass safe.
I thought Navy boot camp was a joke in 1999, now it looks like summer camp. I was 8404 FMF and an easy morning PT was 10 times harder than anything I experienced in boot camp. What happened to "Abandoned Ship" and "making it rain" These boots don't even get screamed at. just imagine how easy recruits will have it in another 20 years. my Dad & uncles called me a pussy because my boot camp was soft and that was in 1999. I think we should at least be able to verbally assault and PT new recruits to that grey area.
Christopher Hintzman I’m guessing they toned it down because of the cameras being around, because my division very much so got verbally assaulted and beat like our lives depended on it.
Brandoobian youre truly pathetic and sound like a f***ing boot with nothing to do but say crap on UA-cam. And yea I do know, dumbass. Just take your unnecessary bs elsewhere.
In case anyone doesn't realize, it's all indoor because it is supposed to replicate ship life as much as possible. Constantly indoor, closed quarter. The PT could still be much harder than it is, but the emphasis is on academic training. Many of the A schools are tougher than this physically.

"nintendo 8 xbox 8" i died a little bit inside when he said that XD
ausar king same af
He said age
I trained recruits from 1978 to 1981 then retired. What I've seen so far in these videos, it is a lot more interisting. Now I'm just a retired 75 year old chief gunners mate. I wish I could go back to boot camp.
I agree. I don't understand the hate for PT. It's a nice way to let out some of the stress that you get in boot camp.
this looks very easy, but I know deep inside when I go there it's gonna be HELL for me and my mate.
People see the medicine balls and the punching bag and laugh but don’t realize it’s preparing you for battle stations, the navy prepares you for things you’ll encounter. They don’t spend time on exercises that don’t matter in training.
3:47 lol they got Steve Urkel over here popin and lockin.
DEATHDEALER hahaha!
Don Won The Produces their a bunch of closet queens
Strangely I loved PT but I was in fantastic shape (high school athlete).
On these video's I have seen a lot of "our BCT PT was harder", but in all reality the different services PT is designed by the general job. Being on the ground in the dirt is different than being on a steal ship or on an air base.
I used yto agree with you its more to teach us how to stand so we can qualify when we go to the range the next day
To people who are arguing over them doing PT indoors chill because they just do the PFA and what not in freedom hall which is the big gym with the track other PTs are in the barracks and depending on the season you go to boot, you do go outdoors on occasions.
barracks used to be much smaller. we were pretty limited on what we could do in the compartment so most of it was outside which sucked in great lakes in september.
the "worst part" pt, isnt the worst part in usmc bootcamp. its being treated like you dont deserve the food you eat and all the mind fuck games.
I honestly liked in house PT, weren't alot in my division as there is in this video though.
p.t. was my favorite time because i could just get in my zone and enjoyed it of coarse running cross country and rotc in high school helped
2014 yall still arguing about branches on youtube.... at some point this gotta stop
Yeah they also do have a gun with them and the holster traing is pretty fun honostly
I went in 2001 and we honestly PT’d probably about 3 times the whole time in boot camp
RTC in winter wasn't fun when you went outside. We even got a black flag this year, cold as BALLS.
The worst part was jumping off the platform, doing the 5 minute float and swimming for 50 feet. Especially for a guy like me who could barely swim, and sank like a rock. To qualify for 3rd class swimmer.
Frank Wms 5 minute float?? easy dude... swimming 50 feet even easier lol
Wow! these people make it so easy!
I laughed so hard when that MC said this PT is hard
Dominic Bates he didn't lol
Looks like a spa now compared to when i went to Great mistakes.
I played BBall in high school and the PT was easy. Not having freedom to go where you want, do what you want and when you want is what is difficult. useful, im going to meps next week
the navy is a challenge depends on what you do theres tons of diffrent things to do
Makes the marines look even better
You do, they just start you off with basically fake weapons first; It helps people learn how to properly handle a firearm without the chance of it going off before they know what they're doing.
navy pt is some of the easiest exercise i have experianced, ESPECIALLY at rtc
wow highscool.gym.class looks fun...
Lol dude I love the navy but seriously...
EXACTLY
You guys gotta keep in mind this is what the Navy releases for people who are thinking of joining to see. Plus, this is an integrated division which gets it easier. Man I Wish our strength mod was as slow as that. We did all of ours fast and shit and like 10 times.
Don't listen to anyone saying it's a cake walk. By the end, it feels easy. People saying they've joined and all that cake walk crap are 99.9% liars.
Nina Matt not really
Phillip Plott sure
I just graduated Navy Basic Training a week ago. The PT is a joke. But keep in mind that the Navy is challenging in a different way.
If you were in any program in school: Football, Band, Basketball, Soccer, etc... I think it's just as much "PT" as they are doing here.
Besides.. don't the recruiters PT them before going to bootcamp?
Good god shit has changed since the 90's
wow this looks so much easyer from when I wen thought boot camp. its a cake walk now
When did you go?
+Jerod Rumney sept 17, 2001
Try 1965
so because you did it in 1965 that makes you a better person than those that do it now?
I went to Navy boot back in 97 and it was whack then and its whack now. Hell the Coasties boot camp looks tougher if you watch their video.
Look for the quality of life. What the branches have to offer. Who offers you a better deal if you have college credits or if your an Eagle Scout.
Yo I am from Frisco! Thats cool
It's a documentary to make it look fun and easy. In real life it's different.
Nah it's fun and easy.
Yeah you can definitely see that part shinning through the hard work at the 2 minute mark. Like you can tell its intense and if i had to guess that goes on for an hour or two right? Im a shot-putter in high school but on fridays we do P.T training along with the runners and its about as hard maybe a little less.
Sputterbugz true, question is how much fit do you need to be to be exceptionally fit?
***** oh yea definitely, those are usually most remembered
George Hoyle you'll be fine, basic is more so, folding clothes, and coursework than it is exercising.
Your RDC's will make sure you get in shape, how much effort you put in is all that really matters. Just realize that once u ship off to bootcamp, this is the start of your new life, take it serious. Again, youll be fine.
Sure is a different rtc than we had in 67
who is the petty officer hosting this video, i know him he was on my ship idk his name but i recognize him
physically challenging my ass!! weeks 4-8, I would sometimes get in trouble just for the workout. The "p.t" there was a joke. God i wish I had joined the Marines instead.
Should've joined the seals instead ;)
I wish you would have too. I don't want you in my fucking navy with that attitude.
Brewer Eldridge are you an officer or do you plan on becoming a naval officer in the future
when they say many sit ups and push ups in two minutes, do they mean two minutes each or both the sit ups and push ups combined in two minutes
Damn I want to join the Navy, too bad I already signed up for Army.
Ethan Clarke do it after the army you probably won't get this since your in training still you can do both
wow indoor training!! i might switch before it`s too late
***** your comment is dumb af
***** idiot it's supposed to be like if you were on a ship, its the NAVY not the army. Also, it gets into the negatives in Great Lakes. I'd like to see you PT outside while it's snowing. With your poor grammar you shouldn't even be talking down.
wtf you comment on a 3 year old comment
yeah cuz they damn sure didnt show neone getting beat! that was the funnest part to me...call me sick if you want to lol. hoo-yah!
Do they still make it rain? We use to get worked until the sweat would steam off of our heads, condense on the ceiling, then rain back down on us. So much has changed about boot since I went that I was wondering if that still occurred.
Jacob Kennedy No. We call it ITE (Intensive Training Exercises). We worked out until the bulkheads and the decks condense. It didn't "rain" at all.
i dont know yet what i want to join i want to be in the navy but marines so cool i dont know can someone help me with thus probelm
Most of them did one enlistment and done
can the publisher of this video help me in finding one of petty officers in this video. she is a shipmate i lost contact with long ago
I hated the padding they had on the floor where we had to take a knee..
Not nearly as bad as the one in battlestations between assignments, but man my knees where get destroyed on those matts lol
im so pumped now
um i plan on going to the navy for maa .and i was wonder is the asvab hard
asvab isnt hard... MA A school is another story start busting your ass with PT and get ready to feel death in your eyes when ur OCed
I'm in my explorer program n.we got pepper sprayed
+Carlos Stroud pepper spray is not OC spray.... OC spray is called Satan's piss for a reason it's much much worse! in the navy your not allowed to work or do anything physical until after 24 hours of getting sprayed bc that's how bad it is
Jessica Ramon sounds fun I like pain
+Carlos Stroud if you like pain, join the marines
Lol, They get to do easy ass PT in a heated/AC facility.. Seems like a big vacation they are getting paid to go do..
No shit right i can't believe they get paid for this
SpecialB88 and indoor ranges as well
Exactly! It's the best.
The reason why the are in a heated room is because it gets in the negative degrees outside because they are by the Great Lakes
Its hotter in the facility and there isn't any wind to give you relief.
The Navy's boot camp is a mental challenge. The physical portion is a joke. But that's just boot camp, it's not the Navy entirely. Also, you have to keep in mind that these videos are family friendly.
ok i think i want to join navy so thank you
Navy in my opinion I am biased because I am navy but I feel like the nbavy has more job opportunies
all these usmc/army dudes talk in down on the navy, remember they do their job just like you do yours.
the people talking down on the navy arent actual marines. they are just fat basement dwellers trolling on their laptop
They do PT inside?
Thank you
Ahhh the memories....
We never got holster training. And if i remember correctly trainer behind us kept gun in hand at all times...... just in case. Boot camps the shit now. Lmao
I understand how you could qualify with a handgun. But a shotgun? How does one score that?
+Rome1sixteen You can't really. Just as long as you can hit the paper and the weapon doesn't jump out of your hands.
Griffin Kirsch Thank you
Damn I should have joined the Navy... Looks like a cake walk! Haha Never mind I like a challenge... I think I'll stay in the Army...
No capt. chair Squat down stick out your arms lay the piece across your arm if you drop it. They beat your ass .
The Navy isn't a combat based ground org. so , they don;t need the extreme pt training that army, marines need.
we did maybe 3 days a week of PT it was a fuckin joke
wow. This seems really really easy. My High School Swim Team does harder workouts than this everyday. I'm actually afraid of losing strength and stamina when I go to bootcamp
dumb fuck... your swim team doesnt do shit. you understand this is toned down for the camera's to convince people to join right? idiot
2 min each
That's pretty cool you get to train with a shotgun
I believe that if you go to RTC and can't pass the first test, you should not be allowed to continue training. You should show up prepared.
I just graduated less than a month ago. The Navy PT is a joke in all honesty. Way too easy
i agree official pt 3-4 times a week , but if you had any people who screwed up you had in house IT.
grats?
NJROTC cadets can finish a mile in a half in 12 minutes c'mon now raise the bar higher, put it under 9 at the most minutes lol, this is a piece of cake.
They dont train with real 9mms?
Hey, this is probably random, but I wanted to point out that I have seen a post on social media that says "Emos are braver than soldiers." so you posted here because of a post on social media? don't be a goddamn sheep.
b4ds33d2 oh shit I posted that? HA I was probably drunk
bootcamp is way too easy but wait til you go with the actual navy. (except the desk jobs.) lol sorry love ya all
easier than marine corp basic
They don't call Marine Corps basic training basic for nothing.. lol
Our barracks and most, if not all the buildings have been around from WW2.
Seamen BrotherhooD...
I thought Navy boot camp was a joke in 1999, now it looks like summer camp. I was 8404 FMF and an easy morning PT was 10 times harder than anything I experienced in boot camp. they need to make navy boot camp pt harder, these exercises look like a joke...
Honey I went to an american public school in a small town...
Waiting for foreign countries to come brag about their countries on American videos
Wtf? This is navy pt in boot camp ?? I am a marine poolee I have to run my 1 1/2 miles in 12 minutes my best time is 9:40mins
Omg this crap is soooooo easy i was doing that shit in 7th grade and people struggle at 18 hahahahahaha
Hooya417
Oh nevermind
navy botcamp PT hard? BAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
+Ben B No one said it was hard....
+Ben B it just said it's the worst part. never said it was hard.
Ben B ok do you know how to man missile launchers like my dad did or 50. Cals like my mom going shut up and go to your army base
this looks pathetic, joining the navy soon and I expected much harder training
Makes me sick to see how soft the Navy "boot camp" has become.
Obviously they've toned it down because the cameras are there. Don't talk down on what you don't know.
You tell me to not talk down on what i dont know, but how the hell do you know what i know? you dont, so stfu
jen an Im pretty sure i know more about the Navy than you think. but nice try. Navy is still soft nowa days
Brandoobian youre truly pathetic and sound like a f***ing boot with nothing to do but say crap on UA-cam. And yea I do know, dumbass. Just take your unnecessary bs elsewhere.
Brandoobian They do tone it down in front of cameras. And yes, I know.
Don't join if your a nasty!
Smh
pt was easy bases was annoying IT was what fucking sucked
Is this remotely accurate?.....wow....
steal
