Company 451, Great Lakes Naval Training Center, 1960. The only PT we really did at RTC was 5 hours every Saturday, at first on the Grinder, then later when the weather got bad, in a drill hall, was Close Order Drill.That would have been it, recruit training was a real rush, enjoyed it. Got out of the Navy and went into the Army Infantry, PT everyday, including Saturday and Sunday. much time in the field, in all kinds of weather conditions, trained hard, Navy was fun not to hard, Infantry, hard life, but I enjoyed the 26 years in it.
Most of them did one enlistment and done

All we did at my recruiters' office was salute the flag and salute the highest ranking person saying "future sailor (last name) requesting permission to come aboard" and some people I've talked to were surprised that we even did that

People see the medicine balls and the punching bag and laugh but don’t realize it’s preparing you for battle stations, the navy prepares you for things you’ll encounter. They don’t spend time on exercises that don’t matter in training.

"The fuck guy, get up (Hits your rack rapidly)" "Rover... where the fuck is Rover" "Who's WATCH P.O, cause your ass is fucking fired cause this recruit fucked up on the Watch Bill. Get out my face guy" "It's Petty Officer, do I look like a fucking chief asshole" and various shit back in my division. My RDCs don't let up, no matter what week or day it is.

They don't call Marine Corps basic training basic for nothing.. lol Our barracks and most, if not all the buildings have been around from WW2.
If you were in any program in school: Football, Band, Basketball, Soccer, etc... I think it's just as much "PT" as they are doing here. Besides.. don't the recruiters PT them before going to bootcamp?
I went in 2001 and we honestly PT’d probably about 3 times the whole time in boot camp
males and females in the same barracks and same division? idiots! the current navy boot camp is a joke compared to 1960's 70's, they could bit shine the shoes of the Marine Boot camp!How do I know? I was a recruit company commander USN from 1964 to 1967. and went to boot camp in 1951 !
Can't get used to people below E7 wearing khaki. It's just not right. Boot camp is sooooooo much better than it was in '85. All we did then was exercise, classroom, and practice graduation drills with flags and rifles. You guys look much sharper in cammies instead of dungarees and white hats.

boot camp is allllll just a mind game. sure there's lots of physical strains, but if they can get you mentally, then that's it for you. for anyone leaving for basic soon, stay strong and take it CHOW TO CHOW! i promise you will make it. i was asmo'd back 4 weeks because of my PFA. just RUN and do NOT stop and walk!!! you can do it! godspeed to you future ship mates!

I can tell you guys that this is all for show. I’ve been through Navy basic, and this video is just bait to make people think basic isn’t difficult. Navy basic is still pretty challenging... (and below me will be a marine/army circle jerk contest on who’s tougher).
