While I was watching the hearing I was brought to tears. As as former soldier of the United States Army and Desert Storm Veteran who proudly and honorably served this country and gave my oath to defend against all enemies be they foriegn or domestic was heartbroken. To witness trump so blatantly and with no regard to the safety and wellbeing of not just the members of Congress or their staff, not just the men and women of law enforcement who gave they oaths to protect, but the American people who supported him, attempted to overthrow the government. An act I have witnessed happen in other countries in the Middle East, parts of Europe, and in Central and South America. But never in my wildest imagination thought an attempt coup would ever happen in the U S.A. We were supposed to be the country that the world looked too as an example how a democracy should be. My thoughts went to the men and women who I served with, and all the men and women who came before me like my father (GOD REST HIS SOUL) who served 42 years with tour to Vietnam, South America and the Middle East. And it brought me to tear to watch trump shit on all of us who proudly served and defended our great nation. And the pain of what trump attempted to do was amplified by the fact that thousands of Americans blindly followed trump to commit criminal acts and have the nerve, the audacity to call themselves patriots. There was absolutely nothing patriotic in their violent attempt to take over Congress, threatening to kill members of Congress, and openly express their desire to hang the Vice President of the United States of America. They disrespected every single American who has served this country. The actions taken by trump and those that blindly followed this lead have now and forever put a horrible stain on the United States of America. These actions have embarrassed me, and every single American. The saddest, most disturbing part is the fact that there are still many Americans who support trump even with the Mt. Everest of evidence to his guilt there are still Americans who are willing to obediently, and without questioning, fall in line and believe anything and everything trump says. It honestly boggles the mind that a single person would still be willing to support and blindly obey trump, even if it means they must commit crimes against America and the American people. The damage trump and his followers have done and continue to do to American is tearing this country apart. Even though his followers have severely declined, there are still enough to continue to harm The U.S.A. It should bring every single American to tears.
May GOD BLESS America and the American people and everyone the world over. I always pray for peace but prepare for the worst. Stay safe and stay healthy.
I think a lot of them have come to regret their actions that day. They let Trump take over their common sense and will regret it the rest of their lives. Maybe not all of them but some that have seen Trump turns his back on them like he does with everyone after he is through with them.
Your words provide me hope that despite the nasty permanent stain, The US will redirect, reunite and show its strength as a democratic nation with free people - we need your moral support in Europe!
The brainwashed mind of his cult through right-wing media manipulation (at best) is one thing, but the continued support & defense by his party is another. Trump will likely never face criminal responsibility for the damage he's done, including weaken us in the eyes of our enemies as they discussed in the hearing, much in the same way GWB will never face criminal responsibility for his war-crimes like the lies used to invade Iraq or Afghanistan, costing thousands of military lives with millions more still suffering. In America, the commander isn't punished for the orders they give, only the soldier is punished for following them.

I hate to tell you this but your system of democracy is shit. Some problems aside I just wanna point out the difference in the value of ones vote. It differs from state to state.
Also in some cases it really isn't a democracy anymore when voting districts get manipulated so that the minority wins over the majority.

I can say this with all honesty, I've worked as a tour guide and I've never once felt the need to run from the tourists. Hawley is a traitor and I hope that lawsuit looking to bar him, and Marjorie go through.

Twice impeached Trump was the worst US president in history for many reasons.
#1) Trump committed an act of treason against the US by inciting a violent insurrection on January 6, 2021.
#2) Trump’s incompetence regarding his management of the US response to the Covid-19 pandemic between January 2020 and July of 2020. Thousands of US citizens died as a result Trump’s failure. If Trump had a proper immediate response to the pandemic the way that the South Korean government did, then thousands of US citizens who died would still be alive today.
#3) In April of 2019 Trump vetoed the resolution to end US military support of Saudi Arabia's GENOCIDE of thousands of innocent civilians in Yemen! Trump was using the US military to support GENOCIDE in Yemen!
#4) Trump violated the Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution for his entire 4 years in office, then in 2019 Trump verbally mocked the US Constitution. The foundation of the USA is the US Constitution, that is why the presidential inaugural oath includes to swear to protect and defend the US Constitution. In January 2017 Trump publicly swore an oath on a bible at his inauguration ceremony to protect and defend the US Constitution. In 2019 Trump mocked the US Constitution by publicly saying the words "phony emoluments clause".
#5) Trump misogynistically and adulterously said of women: "Grab them by the pussy."! Trump committed adultery with Stormy Daniels and then tried to cover it up. Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was in prison for crimes related to Trump's cover-up of his adulterous scandal with Stormy Daniels. Most Republicans claim to be the moral party and/or the majority Christian party, but hypocritically enthusiastically want to give an adulterous Donald Trump, another 4 years in office. If a US president who was a member of the Democratic Party did the terrible things Trump has, of course, the Republican Party leaders would be screaming for his removal from office.
#6) Trump committed the crime of obstruction of justice.
#7) Trump committed crimes of trying to tamper with elections, especially in Georgia.
#8) Trump's attempted abuse of power regarding Ukraine.
#9) Trump committed tax fraud in New York State, which is partly why Trump hides his tax returns.
#10) Trump practiced corrupt nepotism as he appointed unqualified members of his family into positions of power in the executive branch of government.
#11) Trump illegally destroyed documents and illegally took documents with him after he left the office of president.
There are many other horrible things about Trump. Here are some of them: Donald Trump is a dumb corrupt businessman which is why he hides his tax returns. Donald Trump is not a self-made man, he benefited from nepotism. His daddy Fred Trump gave him millions of dollars to start businesses many of which have failed! Donald Trump's failed businesses are many but include: Trump Airlines, a Trump Casino, and Trump University. With his failed Trump University, he defrauded hundreds of students. In Trump's many construction projects he failed to pay some of his contractors. Trump committed fraud with his non-profit in New York State which is why Trump recently transferred his residence to Florida. Donald Trump is too stupid to write his own book which why he hired a ghost writer to write "The Art of the Deal". When Trump was in high school, he hired another boy to take his SAT college entrance exam. Trump claims that he is smart, but he refuses to show us his college transcripts. Donald Trump's daddy bribed a physician to write that Donald Trump had bone spurs and therefore could dodge the Vietnam War draft. Donald Trump and his dad also practiced racism in who they would rent properties to in the 1960s and 1970s. That is just scratching the surface of the long list of horrible things about Donald Trump.

Not only should he be charged with insurrection, but he also should be charged with five counts of "felony murder." Five people died during the insurrection that he was directly responsible for initiating. Felony Murder: "The felony murder rule is a rule that allows a defendant to be charged with first-degree murder for a killing that occurs during a dangerous felony, even if the defendant is not the killer." [Justia] Under 18 U.S. Code § 1111. "Whoever is guilty of murder in the first degree shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for life[.]" Lock him up!

Additionally, various state district attorneys, Georgia, New York, et al., are investigating what state crimes he can and will be charged with on the state level, if at all. Let's hope for the best.

For the Irish and everyone else who don't seem to know this, Congress is in a federal district. The law enforcement situation is unusual. If the President and Vice President do not ask the military to help, the police are very shortly overwhelmed. It wasn't dereliction of duty, an unconscionable slur against those who stood and fought, were wounded and died. No love from an Irish hypocrite, it seems, only attacks against good people doing their best. Unlike in Ireland, there is no history in the US of such an event. New legislation is being put into place in case this ever happens again.

Nothing of behaviour by peaceful people who support Trump was "criminal" especially the majority who simply walked inside and got in no contact. For a select few it was the opposite. It was a democratic protest by the people who decided themselves to go there alone without any guidance to do that. Hawley did nothing wrong. Neither did Trump who said he would go to the Capital and beg his Republican allies to reject the results because of fraud. he never told people to go inside there too. Just metaphorically to fight in protest against the "fraudulent" election results

It’s because of him that the objection debate didn’t die in the House. McConnell said the election was over. No Senators were going to object, until Hawley said he planned to. Of course, Cruz couldn’t be out- brown nosed (or orange nosed?). Other Republicans couldn’t let the universally despised Cruz upstage them & it was downhill, from there. Romney was the Senator who had the close encounter with the mob, because he’d been in his office or something. When the Senate reconvened, he blamed Hawley & 45 for what happened.

Our library is in a former dry goods store. The director quit after his harassment, and then he fired the children's librarian for no cause that we could find. Officers safety is paramount. We have never lost an officer during a school shooting or an insurrection and we don't plan to start now. Sure we had to wait for the proper gear but we didn't mind. All that Dirty Harry crap isn't reality, coming home safely is. If you want a hero, you go in thewre and get shot, I'm not going to do it. The lack of initiative, courage, intestinal fortitude and intelligence to quickly formulate a plan of attack is despicable and totally unacceptable. I was enraged when I saw them standing around with their heads up their asses as innocent children and teachers were being murdered within a short distance away. Yes, coming home after the shift is over is a priority, but it is below that of doing what you signed on for and that is to protect the community in your charge. If you cannot overcome your fears to do the right thing, then hang it up. You are a danger to yourself and others.

Adam Kizinger's closing statement was powerful and there's no one that can argue or disagree against his words. The world needs to move on from Trump. Republicans need people like Kizinger or Cheney in their party to show that there's still good respectable ones in their party. They are working hard to right the wrong that was Trump. I applaud their hard work and I feel for the hard road they've laid out for themselves because they truly are trying to defend our democracy.
