Im Hmong and grew up in Long Beach during the 90s and early 2000s. It was crazy seeing all my close friends from elementary and middle school split between TRG and ABZ when we got to high school. On the first day of school at Poly High, there was already a fight and gang chase. I moved out to Pomona and then settled in Fresno.
Stockton does have a lot of Asian gangs. Cambodian and Hmong gangs are active. Those Khmer gangs are still active. Hmong gangs like MOD and HNS are still very active, too. Not as much beef as back in the late 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Back then Asian gangs were formed to fight back against bullies from other races. It's sad to see those OGs are now fathers and grandfathers to this generations active gangs and still want to live that lifestyle. It is time to change and click together like before. The reason why T-bird probably got the manslaughter charge is because the prosecutor didn't have enough witnesses to come testify. I'm assuming the two victims probably left or didn't live in the area anymore because he should have been found guilty as long as they had the two victims that were shot testify on him. But I'm thinking the other guy that got 55 to life already got a sentence so he's not going to testify on him anymore because he's not getting anything out of it so he probably told the prosecutor to go pound sand when they wanted him to testify on T-Bird and he's already sentenced and got hella time so he doesn't care he's not going to testify because he's not getting Anything in exchange to testify. And that's probably why T-bird only got manslaughter because the state couldn't bringing the burden of proof so they offered him a deal that they knew he would take. If Chun was only 16 at the time of the crime he's considered a minor still so I don't see how they're allowed to give him a life sentence. I thought a new law passed away they can't give minors life sentences anymore but I could be wrong. But I remember watching something on TV that said a lot of dudes were getting released because they were in prison when they were minor and I guess it's considered cruel and unusual punishment to send a minor to prison for life
