I am planning on doing the same mods on a Lifetime Yukon. I was wondering if you have tried the motor in reverse, if so how does having the lever unlocked effect the position of the motor. Great job on your build.
Hey bro. Just wanted to say thanks for your videos on the kayak mount setup/steering system. It really helped me finally get a good setup on my FeelFree kayak. I set up my steering a little different but it works. My only gripe is the wires that connect to the pwm box sucks. They fall off a lot.
Great idea, but am interested to see if you change to the foot pedals after fishing for a while. I had an original tiller system that took my hands away from fishing. After connecting up to my foot pedals, it was so much easier to cast, retrieve, etc. while my feet did the steering stuff.
Yeah I looked a lot into the foot steering and thought about doing that. Might do it in the future but I wanted to keep the pedals for now. Didn’t want to mess with too much. Definitely a possibility though 👍
I love tour setup, i may build onw on my lifetime tamarack angler. Why did tou mount the stwering triangle ao far up on the motor shaft ? It seems like it would be better lower down, but maybe im missing something. Thanks!
I usually don’t worry about reverse. My buddy made his with the possibility he can go in reverse and he said he never does. Too sketchy and easier to do with paddles. Check out my newest video where I talk about all upgrades 1 year later: ua-cam.com/video/c2zgFU6xJa8/v-deo.htmlsi=6SM2VK9ja_1qInWA
You know soon as you hit reverse that your motor will pivot up from the kayak because of the zip tie around the latch. I'm sure you know… But it would be good to let everyone know before they zip tie the latch. There is probably a way to make it squeeze the latch when you pull in the rope to raise the trolling motor.
Interesting . I have a Hobie and your steering system somewhat mimics it. The taughtness is important to completely control. Even the Hobie needs adjustment every so often
You stated you were going to doan on the water test. I was disappointed that when on the water, all you did was talk about it. There are a few different methods to work the lock and tilt on youtube but they are always demonstrated while the person is standing next to the kayak which makes it look easy. I want to see someone use the rope pull lock and tilt while sitting in the kayak on the water or not.
Well, I dislike you and your channel. I was set in my mind that I was NOT going to put on a trolling motor. You went and made some great videos on the topic and have changed my mind! Dang you! Great kayak, thanks for sharing all the info. That motor really scoots you along!
Thank you I appreciate it! Glad I could help! A trolling motor really is a game changer! Reach out if you have any questions! I am currently working on a review video of all upgrades after having a good amount of time on the water. Stay tuned!
Yeah you have to register it once you add a motor. It was like 39 bucks or so. Depends on your kayak and state. Double check with your state regulation’s
Best solution, simple, that I've seen yet
Connect up a foot rail for the steering...that way your hands are free to eat your lunch or rig up your rod while travelling to your spot x
Thanks for sharing mate.
Some nice simple but effective mods there ✌🏼

Thanks man. I appreciate it. Glad i could help! I’m sorry. Which wires? The ones for power and to the motor?

Hey brother
What brand of kayak is that and is that trolling motor made just for kayaks?
Thank you

Cool, this was ten months ago. Have you come across a way to have reverser yet or don't you bother with reverse?

Yeah im thinking of a clean way to lock/unlock or switch to the other way mentioned in the video 👍
@@bassmanbobbinwhat yu can do is attach a string to the bungee and just pull forward on it to lock it back when going reverse

Since you added a motor to your kayak, do you have to register it with DMV???

With the tilt lock fixed in the unlock position, do you have a problem with going in reverse and the motor kicking up?
Yep you do, there is a simple solution for that though.
@@BassManStrikeswhat’s the solution
Dont use reverse. Lol😂@@elusiveelusion260
