hello everyone. i have this machine and never did latte art before. tried making some art with the panarello wand for a month (changing 1-2 things every time to see if it'll help) with no good result. after watching this video i felt some hope thinking now i will be able to do some art. it didn't help, i got better pitchers thinking they may be the problem, not them either. used different milks, no result. after a while i stumbled upon dritan alsela's tip on practicing latte art. he puts one pinch of finely ground coffee and practices latte art multiple times on that setting. i tried that too. and after second or third repetition i began to see some patterns. so i figured my foam is not correct, either it has to dissolve a little or it's not homogenously dispersed in the liquid. at the moment i'm able to get some patterns and i'm excited. so here're my tips: 1-don't rush. your circumcised wand is a domestic steam wand, you won't get a whirlpool as fast as you see on those latte art tutorials. keep your wand under the surface until you get your whirlpool going. it's better if you have colder milk and bigger volume, so you'll have more time. 2-don't rush. you don't have to stretch the milk too much. if you are hearing the spitting sound like in the video you are going to stretch it faster but have bigger foam. deep voiced man is able to make art because of his experience. bigger foam produces the cappucino and it's not possible to paint with it. when you're stretching you have to hear a constant and quiet sound. and after the milk temp reaches your palm's sink it a little, just enough to not hear the stretching. it's hard to develop your latte art skills with 2 empty canvases a day but i feel like i'm getting better with the help of this video. thanks.

Hi, i just got the same machine, and i'm happy with it so far, and did this hack. But i have problem with my steam wand. When i turn on the knob, the steam pressure seems delayed, it takes couple seconds to finally comes out, whether the panarello is attached or not. What should i do?
Hi, this is normal, as first you need to purge some water before the steam comes. This happens to all thermo block machines so nothing to worry! All the best
Same sentiments as everyone else. This video has been hugely helpful and saved me a lot of hassle. Can I ask why the non-pressurized basket is better than pressurized?
Thank you for the comment Tristan. Regarding your question, I'll start by stating that with the same coffee beans I've tried both pressurised and non-pressurised and I definitely can tell a difference in taste. Reasons being: - You can dial in the extraction as you control it with grind size and tamping pressure (which will vary with different beans) - This control will allow you to extract flavours and qualities that you could never get using a pressurised filter, but it is a skill to be learned and perfected - It's quite pretty to see the coffee coming out! Of course none of this matters if you cannot appreciate the difference so it's a personal preference - By using a bottomless portafilter it's much easier tp clean I hope this helps and all the best!
thank you for the tips. I tried it with my delonghi, however, when I tried frothing the milk, the rubber nozzle blowed off. Can you show me how to fix the problem please? Another issue that I faced is that water still come out with the steam.
Hi Nguyễn Đức. If the nozzle pops, you can try different things. First make sure it is clean inside, then check you are not touching the sides of the pitcher as it could bend. As last resort you can add a cable tie like the one I have in the video. For the water problem, make sure you are in steam mode, and that you have enough temperature. Some drops are normal but it should mostly be steam. Hope it helps and all the best!
I need help please, I just bought this machine and the coffee is great and all but when I want to use the cappuccino maker either for steam or just to run hot water, the machine starts shaking a little bit more and the noise it makes ... It sounds like it's going wild in there. Maybe I'm just to sensitive with my ears I don't know but should I be worried and send it back in order to get a new one. Your machine doesn't make noise at all it seems compared to mine.
Hi J. That doesn't sound normal, but to confirm, when you froth milk the "steam" button is on and flashing when you froth? Just to make sure you are in the correct mode as it goes back to brew after a few seconds. If you just bought it, it's always a good idea to send it back for inspection. Depending on where you live and the consumer law, you could be entitled to a new replacement unit. All the best and good luck!
Thank you for your excellent video, may I ask is there any good for the metal panarello wand, is it good for producing cappuccino with big bubble? If you out a cable around the plastic tube , you could not put the metal wand back, could you? Then can you still perform cappuccino?
Hi kin wal, thank you for your comment. The point of the video is to show how to froth milk without the pannarello wand. The problem with the pannarello is that you don't have control on how over the frothing and the results are not as good as without it. I haven't tried to put the pannarello back on with the cable tie, but I presume it would be difficult as it does protrude. But again, why would you use the pannarello if you can do better without it? For me, the better the milk foam texture the better the mouthfeel, so for cappuccino I recommend not using the pannarello and working to get the best result with the inner wand. I hope I answered your questions and let me know if you need any help. All the best!
Can you tell what’s the cause of steam wand spitting water? Before steaming the milk I always give the steam wand am initial spur to release any water reserves but even after that, after some time alongside normal steam I can see the steam wand spitting bits of water. The machine is only a month old.
Hi! What you describe could be normal behaviour. You could try to increase the water temperature to high as they are both related (water and steam). A little bit of water should not be an issue unless it actually interferes with the frothing. If that's the case, as It's brand new you could contact your dealer for advise (repair/replace). Hope it helps and best of luck!
Hi KanataRobbie. You can froth any milk. I use full, but I have had similar results with semi and skimmed milk so it is definitely possible to froth almost any kind of animal milk. I haven't tried vegetable milk like soja or almond so I cannot comment on those. All the best!
This is the video I’ve been looking for! Thank you! I haven’t got the results I want yet but I’m getting there. Great to know there’s an option beyond the purist opinion that “super autos just aren’t capable of good foam and you’ll need a ‘real machine’” Can the steel steam wand you mentioned be installed on the Delonghi Magnifica? They appear to have the same wand
Hello, I would like to know at what temperature you have your coffee maker (low, medium or high) because I set it on high so that the coffee would come out hotter and I think it is influencing the vaporization of milk because the jug with the milk heats up right away and it ends up coming out foamy so I can't do my drawings
Hi Pepe, I have the machine set on medium, but I used to have it in high and I didn't experience a noticeable difference when frothing milk. What does make a big difference is the temperature of the milk when you start. I keep both the milk and the pitcher in the fridge to have both as cold as possible. Another factor is the amount of milk. 280ml take a lot longer to froth than 80ml. The smaller the milk amount, the more difficult it will be and you need a very good technique to achieve good results. Don't forget that it takes time to get it right. My suggestion is small changes to see if the result improves or not, plus considering what was mentioned above. I hope this helps and all the best!
Great tips! I've done the same with my machine and used a cable tie and I can definitely see the difference. The one issue I'm having now though is that the milk doesn't seem thick enough when I pour it. I get the nice swirl and the glossy texture when I've finished foaming the milk and it looks like it will be good , but then when I pour it seems very milky and doesn't allow for any (or very little) latte art. Or sometimes, it might be a little bit thicker but only really the top part of the milk and again when I pour, it is quite thin. Any tips for that?
Hi Michael, thank you for your comment. Your issue can be due to different reasons so I'll try to list what comes to mind: - If you make little foam, may be you are just heating the milk instead of injecting air. Try rising the tip of the wand a tinny bit more and see if that helps. - If you only have foam at the top, try mixing the milk after you finish frothing. This way instead of having milk at the bottom and foam at the top you incorporate the foam into the milk. - If you pitcher is too high when you pour the milk, the foam will sink. Try pouring the milk slow and very close to the coffee surface and see if it makes a difference. - Try a different pitcher. Different spout shapes can make a difference for latter art. - Keep practising! It takes time to get it right so don't expect to get it right from the beginning. Eventually you'll get the results you are aiming for. I hope this helps and all the best!
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 thanks very much I'll try those tips. When you say mixing the milk do you mean swirling the jug and tapping? I usually do that at the end but maybe I could try mix it more. I'll try not having the wand in too far and see if that makes a difference thanks!
Excellent video! However, I tied the pannarello with a zip tie, and it still goes flying after approx. 15 seconds. Any idea about what could be the issue? The steam wand should be clean on the inside and outside.
Hi An Na, it seems that sometimes happens to some people. Hopefully you can figure out what is causing the issue. The reason why it jumps out is because there is some pressure build up in the wand. If you are sure it is clean, then it could be that you bend the wand by accident, or that you touch the sides of the pitcher. Both actions could create some resistance in the steam flow and the pressure will try to escape somewhere (up the wand). That would easily overcome the zip tie. Try in a glass of water and see if you can spot the reason. Hope it helps and best of luck!
tengo la misma maquina, eso lo puedes solucionar solamente bajando en anillo rojo plástico que esta arriba de la lanceta, ese anillo esta para solucionar ese problema
At the end of the video you talk about using non pressurized basket. Did you find some compatible with this Dedica? I've been looking but never found one ... Anyway thank you, great video!!!
Hi Andrew. Depending on where you live you may have to try amazon, ebay or ali. The one I use should be this one (Alternatively you can search for a 51mm filter): www.amazon.com/Coffee-Filter-Stainless-Machine-Pressurized/dp/B07JQL9C8V I made a video on how to use it, in case you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/WnKdrpmVP-w/v-deo.html Good luck!
Hi Khayal. The rubber wand was inside the panarello, so the machine was built like that. I don't think the food regulations would allow DeLonghi to sell a machine with hazardous substances that could be harmful with normal use. All the best!
Hi strangev0id, If you mean the pannarello wand, you just pull it out. I've done it 6 years ago so I don't remember it vividly but I definitely did not have much trouble doing it. Hope it helps and best of luck!
Hi there! Your vid helped me immensely. After trying for so long I started to give up on myself. My concern is, will the hot temperature of milk damage / Melt the rubber? And when do i fell the need to put on the cable tie?
Hi Roshnifaisal. Thank you for your comment. I've been using the setup you see for more than 2 years and it works like the first day, so you have nothing to worry about. About the cable tie, I never had the problem of the wand shooting out, but to protect my self from my mistakes I put it. If you clean the wand properly every time after using it (rinsing with water) and you are careful not to bend it, then you should be fine. All the best!
very interesting, thanks a ton! I keep getting way too much water and can't really see the pattern when this machine pumps, steams, squirts or wants to release pressure...
Hi Aegidaeon, I'm glad you liked the video. On the steam setting it should squirt a bit and then just steam. Check with an empty glass, if it is not steaming properly then there might be something wrong with the machine. After steaming, if you go back to brew setting, you can purge water to bring it back to brew temperature. Best of luck!
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 thanks a lot! Yeah, i think the pump has a problem, it will pump a little water and then keep pumping a whole lot of water squirts for minutes. in a second run it instantly started steaming correctly. Will have to sort that out...
found the culprit: Since it pumps a little bit of water first i always put a waste bucket under it, collect the water, TURN OFF THE VALVE - and then start to steam the milk - when in truth the machine already switched to "no Frothing button pressed? Turning on the valve? Got it, he wants hot water..." - mode... So - user error - as it most times is...
@@aegidaeon Oh yes, the unnoticed switching of the mode... I believe anyone who dare to use this machine has been a victim of this wonderful design choice. I'm glad you sorted it out, now you can focus on getting the perfect milk! Best of luck
Hi Gyana, I used the smallest one from a bunch of ties I got at the dollar store. Just make sure you tighten it up properly using some pliers and it should be good enough. All the best!
Hi Hosam Omar, the silicon nozzle came with my machine. I'm aware that there are version with a plastic smaller one. I did a quick search on google and I found the rubber one on amazon www.amazon.co.uk/SPARES2GO-DeLonghi-Dinamica-Espresso-Machine/dp/B07M93FRHS Depending on where you are in the world you might need to look somewhere else. Best of luck!
Thank you for your video! Does the machine overheat for you aswell when frothing milk? It usually does for me when I do it without the panarello. Any thoughts?
Hi Kelly, thank you for your comment. If I understand your question correctly, you mean that after frothing milk the machine is overheated (both coffee buttons blinking). If this is correct, then this is expected behaviour as the machine heats up the heating element to a higher temperature in order to produce steam quickly. This is too hot for brewing coffee so you need to "cool down" the heating element. You can wait until the temperature drops back to coffee values, or you can cool it down yourself but purging water through the wand until it cools down (usually this takes 5-10 seconds). To purge water after you are done frothing milk, press either coffee button (they should be blinking) and rotate the steam knob back down (water should come out the wand). A few seconds later the coffee buttons should stop blinking and you can brew coffee again (don't forget to rotate the steam knob back up). Hope it helps and good luck!
Hi Keiran. With the inner wand (the one shown) you can froth the milk for any type of drink. I use it for cappuccino and it produces far better results than the pannarello. All the best!
Great advice! I have a delonghi 35.31 and I’ve been having trouble getting the right consistency for frothing milk. This helps massively. I do want to ask though, how do you clean the rubber wand when it’s zip tied? Can you still take it off and run it under water or do you just wipe the residue off with a cloth?
Hi Christine. I'm glad you liked the video. I clean the wand by putting the machine into brew mode , just after frothing the milk. This will make the two buttons blink as the temperature is too hot for brewing. Then I submerge the wand in water and switch the wand knob back down to activate the pump. A few seconds later I stop it and wipe the wand clean with a cloth. I've been doing this for mare than 2 years and never had a problem so I can confirm it works. All the best!
If my DeLonghi Stilosa's rubber nozzle were LONG ENOUGH, I would try this, but it can't reach 4 oz of milk in a 12 oz pitcher. Darn. Suggestions? BTW, liked and subbed.
I'm glad you like the video. I've heard that some machines have a shorter inner wand. I did manage to find the spare part for the wand, so you could try that (I searched for "Dedica Steam Nozzle Spout Tube")... Depending on where you live you could try some popular online market places. Good luck and all the best!
Hi SoSo Cheung. Usually that problem means that there is pressure buildup inside the wand. This could be due to: - Wand not being clean inside or something is obstructing the steam - The wand bending. Try no to touch the sides or bottom of the pitcher. Can you easily remove the wand with your hand? If yes, then check for damage as this should not be the case. If you let the wand steam on it's own, does it pop? If yes, then it might be an obstruction inside the wand Hope this helps and good luck!
Hi Nadia, the wand you see is the original that came with the machine. Some people do seem to have a smaller wand that may depend on date of production/location, but I'm not sure why that is.

The temperature hack is genius
Man... What a livesaver
Great video - so lovely to see something beautiful in life and fun - I have just bought more or less the same one myself and would love to be able to do latte art - as you say practice makes perfect - nice to know it has the capability to do it so thank you - look forward to more videos from you!
Thank you Suzanne for your kind words! I hope you manage to get the results you want, which I do not doubt you will. All the best!
Great video, thanks for the tips!
Really thanks for sharing this great video
Great tutorial 10/10
Glad you liked it!
All the best
oh, you have no idea, how helpful this was! You are my hero, man.
Now... where the heck do I buy a zip tie? :D
You are very kind, thank you. Any hardware store should have them. I believe I bought mine in a dollar store, they should be easy to find. Good luck!
Great Work! Thanks for this video :)
Thank you Nathalie :)
Do we have to take the plastic cable off the rubber wand every time we have to clean the wand and reuse it or do we put a new one every time?🤔
Same sentiments as everyone else.
Reasons being:
- You can dial in the extraction as you control it with grind size and tamping pressure (which will vary with different beans)
- This control will allow you to extract flavours and qualities that you could never get using a pressurised filter, but it is a skill to be learned and perfected
- It's quite pretty to see the coffee coming out!
Of course none of this matters if you cannot appreciate the difference so it's a personal preference
- By using a bottomless portafilter it's much easier tp clean
I hope this helps and all the best!
Thank you, great video!
Great Idea! Thanks!!
thank you for the tips.
Useful as usual.
All the best!
it worked!! thank u
Glad it helped!
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 I have tried resetting it. It’s working fine now. Thank you, though! :)
Amazing! Thank you x
Thank you so much I get what am looking for
Superb. Thanks.
Great video. Is there a special kind of milk that should be used? We have skim milk in our house.
Great to know there’s an option beyond the purist opinion that “super autos just aren’t capable of good foam and you’ll need a ‘real machine’”
Can the steel steam wand you mentioned be installed on the Delonghi Magnifica? They appear to have the same wand
Hi Aidan, I'm sorry, I have no idea. You can always open the machine and see if they look equal before doing anything. Good luck!
Thank u it too short & helpful 💕
Great job. What milk you use?
Thank you for the kind words! I prefer full lactose-free milk, but frothing works with any kind.
All the best!
Perfect, trank you a lot!!!! 🎉
Thank you!
I hope this helps and all the best!
wow thank u so much 🙏
Your issue can be due to different reasons so I'll try to list what comes to mind:
- If you make little foam, may be you are just heating the milk instead of injecting air.
How do you clean and wash the rubber?? Remove it every time after using and tie back again?? 😯
Hi A S, I just dip in a glass of water whilst purging hot water for a few seconds and then wipe it with a cloth as shown at 3:46. Hope it helps!
thanks!!!
Thanks you!
At the end of the video you talk about using non pressurized basket. Did you find some compatible with this Dedica? I've been looking but never found one ... Anyway thank you, great video!!!
Hi Andrew. Depending on where you live you may have to try amazon, ebay or ali.
The one I use should be this one (Alternatively you can search for a 51mm filter):

Amazing!
Does rubber steamer causes cancer while contacting with milk and hot steam water?
Hi Khayal. The rubber wand was inside the panarello, so the machine was built like that. I don't think the food regulations would allow DeLonghi to sell a machine with hazardous substances that could be harmful with normal use. All the best!
thank you! :)
Wow how did yuou remove the metal part ? Thanks a lot
Grazie Mille!
Can you show us how to foam the milk using the Panarello wand that comes with the machine? Appreciate with thanks!
Hi Kelok Chan, thank you for your comment. I'll think if there is anything useful I can convey about the panarello wand.
All the best!
How did you use cable tie...any suggestions what sort of tie to use
Hi Gyana, I used the smallest one from a bunch of ties I got at the dollar store. Just make sure you tighten it up properly using some pliers and it should be good enough. All the best!
Plz from where I can got long silicon nozel?and also I will work with delonghi ec680? Thank you
Hi Hosam Omar, the silicon nozzle came with my machine. I'm aware that there are version with a plastic smaller one. I did a quick search on google and I found the rubber one on amazon www.amazon.co.uk/SPARES2GO-DeLonghi-Dinamica-Espresso-Machine/dp/B07M93FRHS
Depending on where you are in the world you might need to look somewhere else.
@@sharethegoodstuff5728 Thank you so much for your prompt answer!
Can you still make Cappuccino with this method though? I.e. without the nozzle?
Good luck and all the best!
why my tube always pops out... i also have the cable tie on it...
Hi SoSo Cheung. Usually that problem means that there is pressure buildup inside the wand. This could be due to:
- Wand not being clean inside or something is obstructing the steam
- The wand bending. Try no to touch the sides or bottom of the pitcher.
Can you easily remove the wand with your hand? If yes, then check for damage as this should not be the case.
If you let the wand steam on it's own, does it pop? If yes, then it might be an obstruction inside the wand
Hope this helps and good luck!
did u changs the black rubber wand cos mine is really shorter?
Hi Nadia, the wand you see is the original that came with the machine. Some people do seem to have a smaller wand that may depend on date of production/location, but I'm not sure why that is.
