I can't even imagine the stares and whispers from others if I stepped into a restaurant wearing a pair of undie shorts with a sheer skirt, my socks and mesh ballet flats (which I also like) and a nice bando top. My husband would be throwing a trench coat over me before I ever left the house! lol Fun video Anna, thanks for staying in touch with fashion and keeping us looking great!
Just had the funniest memory. My friend carried a huge bag. She owned race horses, and her farrier asked her to pick up some special shoes he had made. Long story short. Someone had to hold the bag and joked “You have horse shoes in there?” She did.
“Ma’am you forgot your pants” 😂 Love your commentary , and I’m in agreement with all of these as I’m 48 and certain trends aren’t classy or appropriate for middle aged women. ❤
I have long thick hair and have been wearing a half up with a thin ribbon tied in a bow. I went to a craft store and bought a bunch of different colors. I get so many compliments on my hair and love the bow trend. 😊
I don't like just embellished pockets......but I have jeans with embroidered flowers with jewels and pearls that I love.....small flowers....then also have a pair with red roses and both those have matching jackets.....I always get compliments. I also have some jeans with lace inserts in the calf area which I have lace tops to wear...love those, too.
Your hair looks great this length. I sometimes wear sheer black socks or metallic silver socks with my 40s style black suede platform shoes and sandals. It's a vintage look I copied from my grandma, she wore socks and sandals with a gorgeous 40s dress in the only photograph I have of her. I "hide" this combo a bit under bootleg jeans, so you see the socks and then you don't, I like subtle trends as I'm quite understated.
I'm 43 and can't wait to wear sheer pretty lace socks. I'm in the UK and still too cold here. Sheer clothing is great for layering. I think the sheer lace dresses are beautiful. If you have a fully sheer skirt you can always wear another short skirt over or under it.
Agree with all of these...except the mesh footwear; I'm still a big no on that. My takeaway is that the majority of these trends are geared toward the 20-something set. Embellished jeans? In my 20's? Heck yeah! (I SO lusted after Prince's pants with the buttons/studs down the side in his Little Red Corvette video!) But now, not so much. Same thing with the socks and flats (especially Mary Janes), but, (and I know you're not supposed to say this anymore), after 35 I'm sorry, but no, Lolita! And a sheer skirt is a peep show/advertising - as are underwear "shorts".
I agree with the eight year old with the socks / sandals. As an adult never liked it n definitely won’t wear socks with sandals . Great video well won’t get rid of my last couple years of clothes. Don’t like anything I saw today 🤷♀️
I agree with all the things you mentioned. And for me personally, none of the chunky sandals/shoes make me feel beautiful and so I would not wear even though I am sure they are comfortable and that is one of my three "fashion words" or whatever the heck that's called :)
That dress is adorable! It takes me back to the 60’s, a mini shift. So cute. Super baggy jeans are not for me, I think they work best on teenage girls. The tiny shorts look best for young girls too, except what parent would let their daughter out in those? All great ideas, thanks Anna
So far, the only mesh like flats I've seen that I liked, were a pair of loafer type flats that were leather, but they were woven to look like caning in a chair. They were classy and gorgeous! I thought they looked like a mix between a loafer and a haurache. Great look
@@ritasnow6386 j crew factory "woven bow loafers" in cognac. Is what I saw this season. I'm not sure where to get hauraches anymore. Sometimes they were sold rolled up in a slip bag, long before Tieks did it ... I had a purple pair. This trend definitely doesn't work for anyone who actually needs some type of support in their shoes
I totally agree that the embellish back pockets are outdated. But I purchased light wash jeans with a few silver/ sequins on the front, and they do not look cheap. Actually, they look high-end, and I wore them to an event with a pair of pointed silver kitten heels, and I received a lot of compliments. I think minimal and good fabric choices are key to your clothing not looking cheap. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤❤❤
I wish I could go out and get all the wide legged jeans this year. I love those things, they remind me of my late teens/early 20s. I'm OK with mesh flats too, I live in Florida, it's hot, so extra ventilation is welcome. Also, I would wear those knit two-piece sets to the beach over my bathing suit. Everything else, big pass! Especially micro shorts.
Socks with shoes reminds me of the old ladies who used to wear their knee hi hose with dresses and shoes. Bleh. Not a look. Thanks for the video! Spot on! ❤❤
I LOVE the socks-babies combination (we call it babies in France not sure what it is in English). Not for my style necessarily but it can certainly add edge to an outfit if done right and worn by the right character. Not all trends go with all personalities obviously. The mesh shoes , gigantic bags and bows on the other hand...aweful imo.
I like sheer skirts on top of other things - another skirt, leggings (dated idea or not), trousers etc., and I haven't tried it yet but would try mesh ballet flats/shoes. The rest, I agree!
Absolutely agree with everything! OMG the micro shorts. The only thing I actually like are embellished jeans pockets… Since I’m in European region, I think I should be ok 😂
I'm 60 and there is no way I'm wearing socks with mary janes or ballet flats. But I think lots of older folks start wearing socks more because we are less warm as we get older. But some wear 'em with sandals - hahhahaha. BIG NO to that too.
Dang Anna! Embrace the socks! Seriously, I wish everyone would. That way I would fit in and never have to suffer through wearing sockless shoes again. Don't even talk about those torture devices called no show socks. There isn't a pair in the universe that will stay on my heals.
I love baggy jeans, I’m a older woman that likes baggy street wear mixed with feminine clothing . I believe it depends on wear you live . I don’t like the socks with shoes or the bows .
Embellished jeans, socks with Mary Jane's, chunky funky shoes, undie shorts, sheer skirts, baggie anything, bows on your head or legs, knit short sets of any kind, xl tote bags, mesh shoes are all a no go. Good call. 😅
I ❤ the baggy jeans... cannot help or stop myself.... but then again I've worn flare jeans since 95...😮... otherwise I'm fairly trend obsessed... cannot get on with the bows tho!
Overwhelmingly huge totes like that need wheels and a latch... And then, in fact it would be a very useful item. But they already make them... It is called a suitcase. Lol
My strongest feelings against a trend is awkwardness of ankle pants with a boot, baby boot, bell, baby bell, flare or kick flair cut. It just looks like a laundry accident. Narrow leg and straight leg cuts look ok at the ankle. Bells, flairs and boot cuts really need to break over the top of the foot. Wide, balloon and barrel cuts need to break across the top of the foot or the silhouette makes the wearer look stumpy. Wide leg shapes can also look good when enough of the thinner part of the leg shows to present the legs as long and lean. Lengthening shoe shapes and colors help too. Or it's a showcase to frame a quirky or statement shape or color. In 2023 I was surprised at how much I loved wide printed culottes and slim capris that were short enough. And at 66, I am starting to avoid shorts. My shocking "avoid" was not really a trend, but all of a sudden, I decided that I can't wear turtlenecks without additional layers. It must have been happening gradually but the distance between the top of a turtleneck and the bottom line of my boobs is way out of proportion to my overall height. SHOCKING. I feel like I need to declutter all my turtlenecks and mock necks in tops and dresses. I watched several videos featuring women over 60, 70 and 80, especially some featuring Ralph Lauren style. I did notice how v-necks, open collar blouses and shirts, v-shapes formed by blazers, wrap dresses and fabric draping and layers manipulate overall proportions to minimize the toll that gravity imposes on us all. Pendants on longish chains helped form a v-shape better than a shorter and heavier chain that made a more gradual swoop. Neck scarves not only warmed the neck in the absence of turtlenecks, but also added color, texture and vertical draping lines. There was a time in my life when I would wear a black turtleneck once a week. Now I don't wear black anymore either. I feel a little sad today goodbye to such a loved wardrobe classic, but they are no longer doing my real life current body any favors. I am not willing to sabotage myself anymore. Some items might get updated by converting the necklines to scoop necks or v-necks so only the neck goes to the landfill. Watching your channel has been so helpful with objectively evaluating how clothes make me look and feel. You are also helping me have the courage to try new things. And writing comments here helps me reinforce and internalize my thoughts. I feel like I am making more conscious choices about decluttering, buying and not buying. Thanks again. ❤️❤️❤️
I love my baggy jeans. It sounds weird & maybe it’s just my figure but I realize how many squats I’m doing REEEEEALLY fast whenever I wear jeans with spandex in them to work. They’re HORRRRRIBLE! The endless fidgeting drives me absolutely crazy, suspenders are always snapping off & I don’t ALWAYS wanna be in sweats/athletic wear (just a bit self conscious around the guys I work with). But whenever I wear regular (cotton) properly fitting jeans I come home from work with busted blood vessel lines on one thigh that don’t go away for days. I was like “…….???? Well that can’t be good.” Baggy jeans that fit my waist and absolutely nowhere else are my best friend. But ya you’re right I can’t wear them for any of my dress/casual occasions, but neither can I wear regular jeans. I have to wear skirt or trousers for that anyway so all jeans fall in the same category for me.

Ewwww, trends. At 60 something i have seen some of these such as socks and mary janes when i was 8, and any kind of bow when i was in the schoolroom. Mesh shoes, embellished or not remind me of crocs but slimmer. So the fashionable want us to wear really baggy jeans, but then wear underwear shorts? Oh, let’s not forget capris which were deemed horribly unfashionable for all (including senior citizens) until this year. 😂😂😂 The black/white dress was great. I would wear that! Thanks Anna!
The underwear shorts look like pampers!! O dear... and knee socks with ballerinas!! That's a second away from white socks with Birkenstock sandals! Nooooo!!!! For the bows: some shoe brands come with detachable bows in all colours. Perhaps that could look cute on ballet flats.
Personally, I agree with all of this... especially the socks! Socks are what I would call an antitrend . It looks good on no one ! I think it's a "I'm rebelling" thing.
Speaking to the embellished jean trend, I like to wear my jeans repeatedly, and if a trend piece stands out so loudly, I would get much wear from them. I’m well aware there are special items for special times, then, make it’s base something other then denim.
Man, I wish I could wear socks with shoes, but they just don't work for my age/style. Socks make shoes more comfortable. However, bobby socks and Mary Janes are too coded in childhood, and look a bit delusional past your 20s. The socks themselves wrinkle in an unattractive manner, and they usually make a high contrast in color with the shoe. This year, I'm normalizing wearing ankle socks with sneakers- I'm tired of the so-called no-show socks that keep slipping off my heel. I'm becoming increasingly intolerant of uncomfortable footwear, lol!
I Really like the mesh shoes to, i odered a pair but they did sadly not fit my feet. And i just bought a pair of short mesh socks, with little dots on them, i would wear them with Black pointy flat slingbacks, but i am not really sure if i can pull it of, i am 48, the white sock, i think are cute on younger women not for me, but i hope that i like the Black ones, if not i will just wear them in my boots😂. Love from switzerland ❤
I have a pair of jeans that fit perfectly when they are freshly washed, but are oversized and baggy by the 2nd wear. Third wear? super comfy but fairly bad looking! Not sure if they fit in the big, baggy jeans category you're mentioning. 😄
H&M jeans don't stretch out. They only last a couple of years though. Next time you get new jeans, try not drying them. That can ruin the Spandex. NYDJ make good jeans, but they run about $120.
I'm ok with a sock now & then (if you saw my feet you'd understand), but everything else is a no. I haven't met a ballet flat that fits my weird feet, so I can't weigh in on it.
No to bows for me. I even thought Sara Jessica Parker and Jlo looked dumb in them. It’s too little girl and juvenile for me but I sure wore them in the late 80’s 😆
Our style is quite different but always enjoy your videos. Classy! I’m over in Cocoa Beach so appreciate the hot climate stuff. Love the two color dress! Mesh shoes? Yikes. No thanks. I do love my baggy jeans though. “Ma’am, you forgot your pants”. 😂😂😂
Those embellished pocket jeans are alive and well in Texas, Marshall's Ross have full on sections of these, The Jesus jeans with huge embellished crucifixes on the bum pockets 😂
The underwear shorts are RIDICULOUS!!! I agree with pretty much all of your list!
❤️❤️❤️
Bedazzled jeans were a thing 40 years ago thank you very much. They’re also uncomfortable to sit in and rip the crap out of your furniture.
“That was aggressive-I’ll calm myself down.” LOL. No, not aggressive at all! Vehement, perhaps. Deeply felt. Not aggressive. ❤
🤣🤣🤣 thank you for this!

Seems like too much layering for me! lol
I disagree. Don't like the mesh shirt trend at all. Also counts for the half mini skirt/half mesh skirt.
I’ve been thinking about sewing a mesh shirt specifically to do this!
I've even seen an entire black tulle dress over a floral sundress. I wouldn't wear it but it was super cute on a younger person.
I love the sock with Mary Jane’s look. I think it’s precious. Also the dress you wear in the ad for bergdorfs is AMAZING! ❤️

Personally, I agree with all of this... especially the socks! Socks are what I would call an antitrend . It looks good on no one ! I think it's a "I'm rebelling" thing.
Your Bergdorf selections are gorgeous!
I absolutely love all the new trends but I am 54 and I look silly. I wish I didn’t feel silly. LOVE THEM
Speaking to the embellished jean trend, I like to wear my jeans repeatedly, and if a trend piece stands out so loudly, I would get much wear from them. I’m well aware there are special items for special times, then, make it’s base something other then denim.
I hate the underwear shorts but I do kind of like the baggy jeans
Like the jeans. They look good on you.. thanks for video
Thank you! 🤗
I am very short. Bows make me look like a child.
Similarly, large bags make me look even smaller.
I avoid both.
Hated jelly shoes in the day and mesh shoes are just a hard no for me.
Bergdorf is a sponsor!?!
Anna, you have ARRIVED 😊
I Really like the mesh shoes to, i odered a pair but they did sadly not fit my feet. And i just bought a pair of short mesh socks, with little dots on them, i would wear them with Black pointy flat slingbacks, but i am not really sure if i can pull it of, i am 48, the white sock, i think are cute on younger women not for me, but i hope that i like the Black ones, if not i will just wear them in my boots😂. Love from switzerland ❤
I love that you are trying new styles! So much fun to experiment!
You and Shea Whitney should do a collab!
You forgot your pants 😂😂😅hilarious!
@@americafirst9144 my pair of jeans don't have any spandex. They are cotton. Drying them is not the problem. Thanks for the thought.
Maybe they fit in to all the categories! 🤣❤️❤️
I agree that your choices were TOO trendy for streetwear-and the mesh shoes too!
🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
Those embellished pocket jeans are alive and well in Texas, Marshall's Ross have full on sections of these, The Jesus jeans with huge embellished crucifixes on the bum pockets 😂
Hahaha, designer run out of ideas! Agree 100%
I agree with all the ones you mentioned
I like mesh, but it doesn’t sound practical for shoes; I think they would fall apart right away.
