At 81 I still feel I’m in my heyday. While I agree with many of your comments, it is not because of age. I love pastels and florals which I will continue to wear. Don’t be afraid of looking your age. You have earned the right to be who you are. Love your videos.
Some of us age differently and don't look nearly our age, so this sweeping statement doesn't apply to everyone. Also pastel colours are skin tone specific. Dark skin tone look fabulous in pastel colours. Nothing to do with age.
@lauradingmburu9446 I agree and it depends on body shape. Skinny jeans I feel looks great on me but straight jeans, yikes…I absolutely have to wear a belt. I look so boxy. Yuck, but they look great on other body types.
I read someone saying that if you are younger and wearing the same colors and patterns as they older ladies in church, you should rethink your choices! LOL
I don’t know, I think we should wear whatever we want in our fifties & beyond. Fashion is self expression. Why limit that? Besides, the older I get, the more brave I have become with my clothing.
The thing is, is that a lot of women in their 50s and beyond do not become "brave" in their clothing choices. They just become sloppy and lazy wearing clothing that looked good on them 15 years ago, but no longer does. They just look dated. People certainly can and do wear whatever they want, but in this world people are judged by how they look! You may not like that, but that's life. A put together, well dressed person (man or woman) is taken more seriously and treated differently than someone who has tossed on a pair of sweat pants and a baggy tee shirt. That look was cute on a twenty something, but looks aging and lazy on us women in our golden years.
Everything you said shouldn’t wear, I do wear them and I look pretty good in them. So age has got nothing to do with our personal style. It depends on our confidence, personal style and how we carry ourselves .. I think we should stop overthinking about our age and focus on feeling comfortable and living our lives to the fullest. I am in my 50s too! I don’t follow any trends either..
The fact is that the people on UA-cam follow cliches, you can hear the same she said in 20 different channels and they all dress and look the same, check Carla Rockmore, Michel Wang and Nikol Johnson, those are mature women with three totally different styles and they look spectacular.
Disagree with all the ageist rubbish & the shallow push for everyone to look the same. What happens over 50? Being original & authentic shows more style & integrity to me. I'll continue on my merry way!
Original & authentic, ok. Just don't wear what you were wearing in yr 20s and 30s. You'll look like you're trying too hard. You'll be wearing styles "too young" for you. Keep your authenticity, but let yr style evolve!
@@cindyl7340 Sure. I'm not yet in my 50's but I'm not about to judge people who are & still wear fashion that doesn't fall into line with "a list of the day" that would be shallow right? I'm all for current styling but delivery of such content these days is not empowering people per this example. But l guess it's all about the clicks huh.
I wear small floral print blouses w/Zara cargo jeans and high heels. I don't think it makes me look old, especially with a moto jacket. I'm 62. Great video as always!
There are so many trends I wish people in their twenties and thirties stop wearing where I live. yoga pants, Crocs, pajama bottoms, bonnets for hats, wearing clothes that make you look like a busted can of biscuits. I am so tired of seeing people dressing so tacky out in public.😂
I totally agree. I absolutely will not enter the world of frump! I won't do pastell lace jackets with 3/4 sleeves and all the stuff they make for a "certain age"! I am shooting for chic!!!!!
I say no to low rise too! They stuck around waaaaay too long and have not been gone long enough. The higher rise has reminded me how much more comfortable jeans are when they hit at the waist… imagine that! The “waist” hitting at the waist.
Unless you have a short torso, then high-rise pants are very uncomfortable. Mid rise hits me right at the belly button and are way more comfortable on me.
While I, too, am careful with heavy earrings, I don't want to get rid of some of my favourites, so I bought these little stickers on Amazon that go behind your ear and help prevent your piercing from sagging. They're fantastic!
You can do the same thing with the Band-Aid. You just cut a little piece off and stick it to the back of your earlobe, then push the earring through your ear and through the Band-Aid and it will keep your ear from sagging.
I’ve always looked polished, professional and well suited during my hey days so now that I’m over 60, I find that wearing the clothes you said no to are a YES for me. I want to be playful, comfortable but artfully fashionable.
I really like the way you present your tips! It’s never judgy, and you always leave room for those who may disagree. Still, it’s helpful to hear your tips on trends and your personal style updates. Thank you for the excellent videos❤️
At 70, I disagree on the pastels. You are never too old to enjoy some color. I also think the opposite about florals. I do avoid large print florals, but ditsy florals work fine for me. I have seen some photos I admired recently of older ladies who stand out in their own dramatic styles. What fun! It is great to be aware of how we come across, but we should also be ourselves and not feel we have to fit in a certain box.
I am 70 and very short and very thin. I never felt I took up enough space to pull off prints and I like solid vivid colors which I think are most flattering on my olive skin and dark hair. I am tired of skinny jeans and tired of looking at them even though they fit me well. While I need the height provided by a heel retired the stiletto with covid and will never go back. I agree with all your observations. Your programs are always well researched and presented and by the way, you look and are amazing😊
LOL That crafty one....They will pry the sewing / embroidery machine out of my cold, dead hands. LOL. It's all in the attitude. I've had a lot of complements, include other over 50s, about how they love a look I've sewn and they wish they could pull it off. Seriously. It's attitude. That said, if you don't feel comfortable in the piece, it isn't for you. Wear what you love and makes you happy.
I think she looks masculine and nothing flatters her, yet Carla Rockmore style is unique and spectacular, she has a die for closet with pieces that she’s kept for decades, these people tapó the same and they have no clue of what style or fashion is, anyone gives recommendations on how to dress 🤣
I am WITH YOU on the polyester! I am in my fifties as well and I have learned that I get a hot flash with that material. I've had to throw out SO many cute things that I just cannot wear anymore. It's now cotton, wool, cashmere and silk. I'm 5'4, barrel leg jeans will not be coming home with me.
I bought a pair from Old Navy too, because the shape of the barrel Jean was subtle and very flattering. Not like some of the overly exaggerated options out there.
I wish I could wear pastels! I am not anywhere near 50, but I am such an autumn. All pastels wash me out, unfortunately. I think some of these tips depend on color season and body type, such as Kibbe, my favorite.
@@sweetpea841 Yellow doesn't have to be pastel - nothing brighter than a sunny, vibrant yellow 😃Yellow next to my face makes me look jaundiced but I have a buttery yellow midi skirt
I'm 52, and I'm so similar to you in some things! Now I love only cute small earrings, I love my platforms and got rid of high heels and oversized clothes hehe! And I have been learning Chinese language for last 2 years - it's so much fun! I'm enjoying modern styles, but choose only those that compliments my body. Thank you for all your super awesome videos! 💯🤩💖💥💫✨
Love this video! Reasonable, clearly stated reasons why to choose or not choose each item. Always smart to go for classic and classy when wanting to look timeless. Thank you for being honest and stylish! 😊
I found this very validating. I absolutely love fashion, but I'm 63 and many of the things you mentioned, I had already been thinking. I recently had to ditch brand new hoop earrings that did precisely that to my earlobes! Love your channel. Such fun.
I live in Spain, and I understand english thanks that I’ve learned. Learn good things open the mind and soul in any age. Bravo for you!! Thank you for all .
I bought a pair of affordable dupe earrings but they had that unfortunate bright yellow gold cheap looking finish . I was just gently filing them with a little Emory board as I turned on your video. They look so much classier now!
@d: I have done similar and have also applied a product called 'rub ' n buff' (a wax finish often used on antiques etc. / source - Amazon) to tone down bright metallics plus colored nail polish is another option that I've used on buckles etc. where a small brush, is an application must. Also a clear gloss coat of the latter will brighten an other wise dull finish.
Little floral print skirts are in my my closet. I'm pulling them out. Most large prints I didn't keep. Black or blue backgrounds are fine. Older sometimes is fine for a not too far off the trends. Classics.❤
I bought 2 pairs of barrell jeans from COS. Affordable and they look great. I am an hourglass, shortwaisted, 5'4" and these land just past my ankles so not too short or long and i can roll them to be more casual. I bought the off white and dark navy - arch tapered jeans. TBH I was surprised they looked so good. :)
I was smiling listening to you.. I love florals but somehow and di not feel like wearing them anymore. I love pastels but I look very washed out when wearing them. I like to wear skinny jeans when going to dance class but for normal occasions they do not feel comfortable anymore. Maybe it not about the age in the passport, but more about comfort. And may the contrasts in our faces (hair) become less prominent so clear colors/high contrast becomes more of a go to. There were times when I liked fashion experiments but less and less. I still love colors very much and I still have a colorful wardrobe but more decisive. I love your video❣️
I am about your age, 57 (in October) and the things I would not wear now, with a few exceptions, are pretty much the same things I would not wear in my 20s, 30s and 40s: nothing too revealing, nothing overtly feminine, nothing too colourful, busy or fussy. Like you though, comfort has become a priority as I'm no longer willing to "suffer" for beauty, so nothing too tight, nothing uncomfortable in any way, no more stilletoes and nothing that needs constant adjusting. I now actively seek out classic, clean lines, subtle but interesting details, natural fabrics, neutral colours and the right fit. I now love flats, kitten and block heels and am a bit obsessed with ankle boots. I recently got a pair of barrel jeans from Free People and I LOVE how they look on me. I know many hate them, but I am completely sold! You should definitely at least try them on!
Free People makes a great barrel leg Jean - the style is called Good Luck. Every time I wear mine, ladies ask me where I got them. They’re super cute, flattering, comfortable, and I love them! I have 2 pairs. They come in a variety of colors.
I have to thank you! Ordered a blue pastel pant set and was really scratching my head over how to style it. You said "unexpected" and there it was, in my closet, staring me in the face, the perfect outfit! You really helped me! 😊
I'm soo patting myself on the back right now! I'm quite over 50, and I said "No" to everything you listed -- well over a decade ago. Though I did choke on the animal print making your No list, until you elaborated that it was OK as an accent piece (shoes, boots, bag, shirt, etc.). Whew that was close! I do love my leopard print Chelsea rain boots, and my low-heel leopard pumps! I've watched your channel for quite some time and I've incorporated several of your style suggestions into my wardrobe. Less is More! Thanks, and be well!
I recently discovered your channel and I'm loving your content. I like that you include photos of diverse models in your examples. As a short curvy 47 year old, I love my slim pants because wider (even straight-cut) pants make me look 3 apples tall and boxy. So yes, do what works for you! Also, I think this time of life is great for giving zero f*cks if others don't like your look.
I am 57 too and I think you're on point with this. Comfort and practically sort of takes center stage after a certain age. Still fashionable but not the priority any more. At least not for me.
Hi Leone, I think you are stunning! I understand there are things that don't necessarily flatter us at a certain age, but I think we should have fun with fashion! I think you convey that that in your channel.
I’m turning 60 this year. I’ve never ascribed to the dressing for your age theory but it always happens on these milestone birthdays that all of a sudden I start a reevaluation of my wardrobe. The hardest by far was my twenties going into my thirties. I didn’t know my style yet and I had a lot of trashy clothes lol. For this year I just realized most of shorts are too short for me to feel my best, my boho style may not be my thing any longer and I’ve been trying to only buy natural fabrics because living in Florida it’s better for my health, my body and microplastics are just frightening tbh. I have given a lot of my heels to my much younger sister, I’m Saving some fabulous shoes for my niece and sexy, structured but easy is my new style for now. Thanks for saying the hard ones out loud. Some people won’t like it but it was what I was arriving too as well.
Thank you for the tips!! Every time I wear my barrel jeans, I get compliments (54 years old). I particularly LOVE free people MOXIE jeans and Citizens of humanity horseshoe jeans. They're amazing!
I so agree with you I'm 54 and unfortunately I'm not able even to walk anymore in stilettos. I've had to part with my stiletto heels and now have some block heels instead
I have a collection of knee high boots that I just adore, I really only wear them with skinny jeans so my skinnies will never go anywhere. Skinny jeans, blazer and knee high boots is a classic look for nearly any age.
@ 41 I dress how I want . Most of the time very comfy lol .living in Florida…. Lots of cotton and linen . Loose clothes is best here in my opinion…. Must be breathable and quality
I have loved Bermuda shorts for years, and wore them to work for years. So agree with you on skinny jeans, I have always loved straight legs I used to get Ralph Lauren Saturday jeans they were the best and so comfortable, rank them right up there with my Levi's 501's. I only recently embarrassed prints I always wear solid colors.
Totally agree 👍🏽 I’m just 61 and I do have my own personal style, with wavy salt & peppery undyed hair (I liberated myself from my expensive addiction to hair colouring during all the Covid lockdowns we were subjected to here in Melbourne) my new natural hair colour means im enjoying adjusting my clothing & colour & pattern choices to reflect my own personality & new ish appearance… it’s great fun but it’s also deeply personal. I love hand knits and hand crocheted items & I love mixing pastels with brilliant brights… I’m leaving black at the back as it juts doesn’t cheer me anymore… it’s not going anywhere permanent as I never say never anymore either except perhaps to bare legs with shorty shorts 😬😬🧐❤️🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘
I am 100% with you in regard to skinny jeans. I wore them for many, many years and today I cannot stand them anymore. I bought some wide leg jeans and trousers recently and I feel so much more modern and cool in those...even if I am only 1,65m. The only "problem" is that I still own a lot of blazers and tops that were fine with skinny jeans but cannot be paired with wide leg trousers. Now all of that will also be "sleeping" in my dressing room for a while.
I recently found your channel and love it. I'm 58 and agree with everything you said in this video. I feel the same as you when I see women dressed in things that are not age appropriate. Everything is not for everyone. It's hard to tell people that, but you put it out here nicely, and I agree with what you said for me. Thanks for this video, I thought it was just me being critical.😊
Leonie… I’ve just into your video and about the earrings… I have now decided to go on a hunt for clip on… They are better than they used to be and I agree. I love those big floral earrings. They have nowadays but they have to be so so light! There are some brands, American brands anyway, that do sell clip on backings, which makes a huge difference. I am 60 and I have a few pair of clip on that. I love that are much easier to wear becausemy piercings are hanging a bit!
Could you explain the ‘why’ of some of these points? For example the point about pastels has me thinking why? Why is it harder to wear pastel when you get older. It seems that your point to equally apply to anyone not just older people. I am careful about wearing pastels, making sure that the colour suits my skin colour and undertones, but also making sure that the cut and shape of the item is modern and doesn’t harken back to a chintzy Laura Ashley look (because that isn’t my personal style). I think the learning would be much more relevant if the why was explained, or maybe it’s just me and I don’t get the point. (Your earring point made sense because the ‘why’ was clear).
Great video and I generally agree with all of your recommendations.... while wearing a buttery yellow (silk, non-patterned sundress)! ;-) I'll still be incorporating some pastels into my wardrobe this summer. But I absolutely agree that at 57, those colors aren't as easy to wear as they used to be!
Your 57??? You look fantastic , we need a video on your skincare routine. I think we need to take a lesson from the younger generation when it comes to shorts. They are just a necessaary part of life. I see young girls with cellulite and curves and they’re wearing shorts and they don’t care what anyone thinks. With all that said, I love your videos and each person needs to do what they feel comfortable with. Keep up the great content.
I'm not a prints person overall, but I think the opposite of you said - small ditsy florals age me! I do have a couple of summer dresses, one with giant watercolour style florals and one blue monochrome floral (in a white background) and I think they suit me well. Again, with prints, we should "proceed with caution" like you always say😅
50 here and I agree with you. I’ve stopped wearing heels because I prefer comfort, no heavy earrings either. I’ve never liked low rise jeans so not for me. If I wear oversized clothes I get lost in them, I’m petite. The thing is that I like fashion but I’m not gonna wear any trend that I do not like or feel good in it. That’s the difference with age I think, you stop worrying about what others think and start thinking about yourself. You do you ❤, if you feel good in these trends, go ahead. Have fun 🤩
Agree with most of them, and I’m 61. I’ve always looked awful in pastels anyway but I just got some small print shortish summer dresses and they look great, they are colours that really suit me and not too fru fru in style and I’ll wear with flats on hot days. Also skinny jeans I’ll be keeping as an equestrian they’re a staple for dog walking and yard work as can be tucked into boots and it’s still pretty muddy here! I do have a couple of leopard print dresses but they’re done in a slightly different way (shape/colour) so I think they are less dated. Oh but I’ll never be seen dead in barrel leg or wide leg jeans, YUK!
I think skinny jeans were aging even when they were in style. As we get older we lose muscle and the legs get super skinny. I personally hit heavy weights to keep this from happening so my legs still look muscular and athletic but my friends legs have turned skeletal in our 50's. When skinny went out i was so happy i didn't have to eventually break it to them that their skinnies weren't flattering them. Now i have the excuse of telling them "those are out of style" which is less offensive than "you have old lady legs"😂 Crisis averted. And YES you should tell your friends when they're wearing things that aren't flattering! My friends literally make me shop with them bc they know I'm the only truth teller of our group.
You are so wonderful Leonie. Thank you so much for your vlogs. I am now working on my summer capsule wardrobe and I am just turned 62 but feel in my 20's. I love your style and yes I have now outgrown some of my summer styles. I love the idea of satin skirt and longer shorts for this summer. I have always loved stilettos but comfort and style can be combined. Have a fab weekend love. Your fan Debra from Mallorcaxxx Spain ❤❤❤❤
Regarding the shape/cut of pants/jeans I think it is more your body shape that counts than your age 🤔 As someone with a short torso, high waisted anything will always make me look frumpy and like Steve Urkle because high waisted things always end up just below my boobs 😑 Low or mid rise is most flattering on my body shape regardless of my age 🤷♀️ Wear the pants that best flatters your shape ☺️
I'm so sick of the notion... Once u hit a certain age you know longer can wear a certain article clothing. Every person is different. There are some people in their 20s that can't hold a candle to those in their 50s rocking the same clothing. Stop pushing this outdated thought process. Its not the age, its the person/individual
Skinny jeans for me have nothing to do with age - I’m tired of seeing them! It’s nice to switch things up once in a while, unless we’re planning on wearing the exact same styles for the rest of our lives.
I agree totally. It’s great to have different options, especially with jeans. Not everything looks great on everybody. So tired of seeing leggings… I’m beginning to wish they were never invented. 😢
I agree with everyone of your swap outs with the exception of pastels. I think some women of a certain age can look very lovely in pastels, for instance a monochrome suit look in sky blue. Now, with my olive complexion I have to be rather careful with some pastels as they have a tendency to wash me out, particularly pastels with a dusty cast such as mauvish pinks or dull greens.
I agree… I also have olive skin. Dusty tones make me look ill! I do well with icy pale pinks and blues and will continue to wear them. They look chic as solids in classic or modern cuts, but they could look dowdy as florals.
The main thing for me at age 60 is quality fabrics. I love silk, linen, cotton, wool.. I do wear some rayon but avoid plastics like polyester, elastics, and nylon.
I agree 100%! I have barrel jeans from Mango that I usually get compliments on and they’re really easy to style. I more or less have the same body type as you, 5’9”, 130 pounds. I got them in a size 6 US, they’re slightly loose in the waist and give a nice shape belted or not.
Hi, we’re all different. I can’t wear jeans of any type as the fabric is too harsh on my skin, I do wear more of a straight legged pant/trouser style (not as straight legged as jeans are made). I’m vertically challenged so I do have to consider all elements of an outfit. Agree with the “heavy earring” issue my much loved late MIL unfortunately had both lobes tear & had to stop wearing earrings. Shoe heels no higher than 3 cm / 1 inch due to osteoarthritis & toes pinned in a permanent position allowing a little “lift“ for special occasions. I have an extremely pale complexion & very carefully choose suitable coloured clothes, often using a brighter scarf to lift the colour. Leopard print goes in & out of fashion so often, my solution is a black jacket with leopard print lapels & cuffs. Yr channel popped in my feed & you have a new subscriber, I don’t agree with everything, but how boring would life be if everyone did the exact same thing all the time. Ty for the great vlog. Cheers 💐
I actually agree, heavy earrings are hurting, so I had quit wearing them. Stilettos, will not go there, other than, tendon, injure a tendon, you will give them up. Pastel and lace can age unless you do something fresh with it. I still do some florals, summers, but oversize anything no, short shorts NO. I still have skinny jeans but haven't been wearing them.
Yes Leonie you are so right on a lot of things in this video. I just bought a soft fabric shirt with a big floral pattern in barely there blue. I think the fabric makes it look pretty good on me. I really love barrel leg jeans and I'm short, the only problem is they are all too high rise for my torso. (higher than 10").
Agree with most of your recommendations. I have a boy (straight) shaped body so high waisted jeans aren’t a good match for me. I hate not wearing my skinny jeans, so I might do it on a limited basis. I’m an animal print lover, it comes in and out of style, but I do agree the animal print dress might be out for me. I might have to consign the few of the items I have.
I agree with all of these. Love my ears and so far, at age 66, my earlobes are not sagging yet! I do love my wide leg jeans and pants, and will be wearing those often. No skinny jeans for sure .
I'm almost 40, and I agree with almost all of your tips for after 50. What can I say I'm an old soul haha. I still love statement earrings, though. For me your tips are kind of ageless and not just for older women. Does anyone look good in small prints, low-rise or short shorts? In a classy way? I don't think so. And pastels are horrifying but I understand some seasons can wear them. Love your advice, you are a class act.

Well said … embrace the privilege of being 81 ❤
Enjoy being 80 wear what you like & feel beautiful in it there are no rules at least for me & I am 73 years young 😄
Good for u
You are an awesome, beautiful, and bold lady .. you are 81. Perfect age to style all day every day.
God bless😊
Know yourself, wear colors and styles that flatter your shape and skin tone. Ignore the trends.
If you have clothes you love that flatter , stay with that.
Some of us age differently and don't look nearly our age, so this sweeping statement doesn't apply to everyone. Also pastel colours are skin tone specific. Dark skin tone look fabulous in pastel colours. Nothing to do with age.
It also depends on the dark skin.
I have brown skin and pastels look terrible on me!
@teacheschem yes I agree. I have dark chocolate skin and look great in them 😄

I think that you should keep on doing that. Fly free. Don't let anyone tell you what to do.😅
To fix your lobes go to a dermatologist and have the put a they bit of filler in your lobes.

Fair enough. However, if your hair colour and skin tone changes as you age (as my mum’s has) it impacts the colours that suit you.
Exactly right And being boring wearing just Black would age even more so
Agree!👍

Got rid of all clothes…shoes etc that are uncomfortable…best move ever
Yes😊!
I always say I am too old to suffer from uncomfortable clothes or shoes.
This decision would be for any age!😯🙄
I wear small floral print blouses w/Zara cargo jeans and high heels. I don't think it makes me look old, especially with a moto jacket. I'm 62. Great video as always!
I’ve been using some of my heavy earrings as brooches and they look pretty good!
Okay that is a genius idea!!
That really is genius!
There are so many trends I wish people in their twenties and thirties stop wearing where I live. yoga pants, Crocs, pajama bottoms, bonnets for hats, wearing clothes that make you look like a busted can of biscuits. I am so tired of seeing people dressing so tacky out in public.😂
The can of busted biscuits! Seen that enough myself!
🤣🤣🤣
I totally agree. I absolutely will not enter the world of frump! I won't do pastell lace jackets with 3/4 sleeves and all the stuff they make for a "certain age"! I am shooting for chic!!!!!

Mid rise jeans cause muffin top even on thin women!
Ooh I must try and find those stickers x

I'm 73 and have and wear a few pair of statement ear rings. They are costume jewelry and made out of some very light weight metal. I love them.
@@Thestyleinsider.I found them on Amazon. At least two: Lobe Miracle and Lobe Wonder.
I agree, I won't wear those short shorts, they are hard to pull off at any age, some look like underpants.
I really like the way you present your tips! It’s never judgy, and you always leave room for those who may disagree. Still, it’s helpful to hear your tips on trends and your personal style updates. Thank you for the excellent videos❤️
Oh thank you Sara - it’s always a bit of a fine line to walk and I never want to offend anyone 🙏🏼
I totally agree!
Well said!
I've always looked awful in pastels. So still won't wear em.
I agree! Own it and you can successfully carry it off ;)
Trinny Woodall is 60 and she wears entire outfits in animal print and she looks great!
I think she looks masculine and nothing flatters her, yet Carla Rockmore style is unique and spectacular, she has a die for closet with pieces that she’s kept for decades, these people tapó the same and they have no clue of what style or fashion is, anyone gives recommendations on how to dress 🤣
I am 55, and I love my animal print heels...they have a kitten heel & are soo comfortable!
They sound perfect!
I believe animal print shoes are considered a neutral 🌟

Thanks - I'm def expecting some push back though - eek! xx
❤q
I'd usually be the first one to argue - but I pretty much agree with everything you said 😮
I think you're spot on with your choices.. Classic, chic, and a little bit edgy are my vibes, too😊❤
Love that!
Thanks for sharing x
Leonie had the height to rock that trend. It's definitely not for everyone.
I agree. Barrel leg jeans are stupid😂!
I found my barrel jeans at Old Navy and absolutely love them! Their shape is not too exaggerated and they're very flattering!
I bought a pair from Old Navy too, because the shape of the barrel Jean was subtle and very flattering. Not like some of the overly exaggerated options out there.
Everlane has some great Barrel
Leg pants /jeans too.🤓
I agree with no florals, but Pastels can be worn by anyone. Wear any color that looks good on you no matter your age.
I wish I could wear pastels! I am not anywhere near 50, but I am such an autumn. All pastels wash me out, unfortunately. I think some of these tips depend on color season and body type, such as Kibbe, my favorite.
Meanwhile I want to buy a yellow dress since I just heard it helps with mood. It helps to be happier when wearing pastels!!!😅
@@sweetpea841 Yellow doesn't have to be pastel - nothing brighter than a sunny, vibrant yellow 😃Yellow next to my face makes me look jaundiced but I have a buttery yellow midi skirt
Completely agree with all your suggestions. You are giving your expertise to help people. Keep going!
I appreciate that!
Love that! How hard is it to learn Chinese? I've heard it's extremely difficult x
You look amazing and I can’t believe you’re 57! Thanks for your videos! I enjoy watching them a lot!
Thank you x
Love this video! Reasonable, clearly stated reasons why to choose or not choose each item. Always smart to go for classic and classy when wanting to look timeless. Thank you for being honest and stylish! 😊
So happy you enjoyed the video! Classic and classy always win, right? Thanks for the support!
Thank you, Leoni, you have addressed this subject sensitively and with great advice.
Thank you so much x
I love crochet...it's the hippy in me😊
Perfect!
I’ve been learning French on Babbel. It has been hugely helpful because I hadn’t studied it in decades. The Zoom classes are the best!
That's SO great to know Margaret - I need to get into the zoom classes too so thanks for the reminder x
I love seeing you in your different looks! please continue to show us what you wear. great advice as always. ty
Thank you! Will do!
I found this very validating. I absolutely love fashion, but I'm 63 and many of the things you mentioned, I had already been thinking. I recently had to ditch brand new hoop earrings that did precisely that to my earlobes! Love your channel. Such fun.
Wonderful!
Oh that's a great idea!
It’s funny that many fashion commentators say for mature women to wear small florals, but stay away from larger florals 🤷♀️
Exaxtly I was surprrised of this commenr. 😄
Doesn't it depend on body type? I would think some women can get away with florals better than others and in varying sizes, no matter the age?
Little floral print skirts are in my my closet. I'm pulling them out. Most large prints I didn't keep. Black or blue backgrounds are fine. Older sometimes is fine for a not too far off the trends. Classics.❤
I was going to say the same thing. I've seen several channels saying avoid large florals 🤷♀️I'm playing safe by avoiding ALL florals!
Because the large florals look frumpy. They're frumpy on young women too.
I agree! I got them in black, white and blue!!
I haven'
t tried the Cos barrel leg jeans but have heard lots of very good things about them, and they're not too exaggerated either!
100% with you on all of these thoughts!
Thanks for sharing Catharina and I totally hear what you're saying x
You should definitely at least try them on!
so happy ive found your channel. We can look good at any age and at any size but just have to be aware what suits us
YES!! x
Free People makes a great barrel leg Jean - the style is called Good Luck. Every time I wear mine, ladies ask me where I got them. They’re super cute, flattering, comfortable, and I love them! I have 2 pairs. They come in a variety of colors.
Excellent! Thanks so much for sharing x
Love this channel! You give great example pictures of everything you talk about. Thank you!
I appreciate that!
I have to thank you! Ordered a blue pastel pant set and was really scratching my head over how to style it. You said "unexpected" and there it was, in my closet, staring me in the face, the perfect outfit! You really helped me! 😊
Wonderful! That's so great for me to hear - yay!
Welcome to my channel and I couldn't agree more about giving zero f*&ks about what people think too x
Zara, Mango, Pull & Bear, Punto Roma and Massimo Dutti are my favourites Spanish brands 😊
Ok I haven't heard of Pull & Bear but I'm going to take a look at them now - thanks for sharing x
Oh thank you Lisa and I agree!
Block heels are so great - you still get the elevation but with far more comfort - at least in my experience :)
I have a collection of knee high boots that I just adore, I really only wear them with skinny jeans so my skinnies will never go anywhere.
Skinny jeans, blazer and knee high boots is a classic look for nearly any age.
I like skinny jeans too. If you're in shape they are a classic.
@ 41 I dress how I want . Most of the time very comfy lol .living in Florida…. Lots of cotton and linen . Loose clothes is best here in my opinion…. Must be breathable and quality
Yep you'd def need to dress for the heat I imagine!
Yoy are Absolutely correct i appreciate all ur information
I dont want to look like a clown thank you for your professional Expertise
Love you and love your style recommendations
Where is your shirt from?
Thank you and it's a newbie from Zara but it seems to have already sold out sorry :(
I am 100% with you in regard to skinny jeans.
I haven't been getting any of your notifications, and I have the bell set to All 🤔 Now I'll have to go check and see what I've missed
Oh sorry to hear that - not sure why. Maybe I haven't been posting as much as usual?
@@Thestyleinsider. Well, I missed every video you've posted for the last 3 months, no notifications 🙂😕
Portuguese! I speak spanish .. not fluently but can carry a conversation fairly easily. I agree w your tips.. thanks so much!
Love your cute & classy style & all your lovely tips u give us all time
Thank you 😍
Great vid very informative and interesting very reflective love🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
I love the shirt you’re wearing! I’m going to try to upcycle a couple men’s shirts to make one like it!
Oh that's such a great idea. Using a simple white long sleeve tee would make the perfect base. Good luck x
I’m in my 20s and I will wear both the trend and the classy and everyone should too.
However, these are your opinions and I respect it 💓
Thank you x
This was extremely educational I wrote down everything thanks
Have fun 🤩
I’ll wear whatever I want till I die. I’m not over 50 yet but people should just dress as they choose and wear whatever makes them happy.
Sounds great Rachelle!
Now i have the excuse of telling them "those are out of style" which is less offensive than "you have old lady legs"😂
Crisis averted.
And YES you should tell your friends when they're wearing things that aren't flattering! My friends literally make me shop with them bc they know I'm the only truth teller of our group.
Agree 💯. Great vid 🥰
Thank you 🙌
You are so wonderful Leonie.
It’s great to have different jeans shape styles. I agree I’m sick of seeing them and leggings!
I feel the same about leggings. So sick of them and most that wear them shouldn’t.
I’m so tired of skinny jeans no matter what age😊!
I agree totally. It’s great to have different options, especially with jeans. Not everything looks great on everybody. So tired of seeing leggings… I’m beginning to wish they were never invented. 😢
Nili Logan or Citizens of Humanity are two of my favorite barrel pants brands
My husband speaks fluent Spanish so i have free Babell at home 24/7😂
Oh that's SO funny x
The main thing for me at age 60 is quality fabrics. I love silk, linen, cotton, wool..
I do wear some rayon but avoid plastics like polyester, elastics, and nylon.
Fair enough too!
I agree with you. Not all of us can pull off Iris Apfel. 🤷🏻♀️🤣.
I love my skinny jeans in winter . They fit nicely inside my boots. I love animal print as well as crotchet 😊
Yes great point about skinny jeans in winter :)
The blouse you are wearing is my definition of DIY/crafty.
Lol!
Loved this Leonie ❤thank you
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I agree with all of these. Love my ears and so far, at age 66, my earlobes are not sagging yet! I do love my wide leg jeans and pants, and will be wearing those often. No skinny jeans for sure .
I agree with everything but the animal print and pastels. I will continue to wear both, but tastefully and not over the top.
Muchas gracias. Tus videos son fantasticos como siempre.
¡Gracias a ti por ver los videos! Me alegra que te gusten.
