My opinion of Tyson went through the roof when I heard him in an interview that was not connected to any of the usual promotional nonsense. His knowledge of boxing was astonishing. He knew details of fights from twenty years earlier. He's a lot more intelligent than the character he plays!
Let's give credit where it's due. Donovan Ruddock was no slouch, and meeting Tyson when he did was hard luck for him. This fight took a lot out of him, and I don't think he ever regained what he had going in. He began this bout as an undefeated fighter, and his "smash" was a fearsome weapon.
when he went down Ruddick did not have an expression of "naivety", he is not naive, he is a pro. He had an expression of surprise and bewilderment. Proper terminology is important.
i m 58...when i was young, i saw him as a monster. A killing maschine. But now i see his skills. I like his trick. a step to the side and then turn in with a hook...only possible with a lot of bending his body. A good boxer!
My brother Darryl Nebro was a Golden Gloves champion at the age of 16 as a bantan weight. My father was the same weight. They were always fighting men bigger and heavier. But just like my mother said, the bigger they are, the harder they fall.

Mike is a terror in the ring and a gentleman after he kicks your ass. He wanted to know if the other guy was ok. No matter what BS was said before the fight Iron Mike cared for the other fighter.
I don't think any fighter says, "Well, Mike is probably going to beat the hell out of me, but I'll get in the ring anyway." I'm sure Mr. Ruddock thought he could prevail, and I'm sure all his coaches and trainers thought the same.
I don't think that regular people can possibly imagine how tough Ruddock was to take all those hard punches over that many rounds from a man who had knocked out so many big, strong professional boxers in the first few minutes of fights. I even sort of wonder what shape Tyson would have been in after 6 rounds if he had been hit by his own punches all that time. Would he have lasted as long as Ruddock getting hit that hard that many times? But then that didn't happen to Tyson in fights as he never had to fight himself and his defence was very good (or so I've heard).
We need tough guys like this. I used to think i was a tough. Until I realised that most of the people tyson embarrasses could cave my face in. Its terrifying to think what someone like tyson could do to me.
I remember this fight, and just knew Tyson would not be able to beat Ruddock but Tyson shocked me and most of the world when he did. This was the fight that made me a new Iron Mike fan. He was unbelievably good.
@@TruthHurtzandHealz Actually, I'm the same size as Donovan Rudduck, and I'm NOT a giant!! Ruddock was a big man, but Nikolai Valuev 7’ tall 348 lbs., Tyson Fury 6’ 9” tall 276 lbs., Primo Carnera 6’ 5 ½” 284 lbs., Jess Willard 6’ 6 ½” 260 lbs., and Vitali Klitschko 6’ 7” 252 lbs. are but a few who would be far better classified as giants! I don't doubt Ruddock's punching power, but a big punch doesn't necessarily stem from physical size. Tyson had a big punch for a smallish heavyweight, and the undefeated Rocky Marciano was only 5' 10" tall and 188 lbs., and he too could hit like a mule kick!
My father, Andy AKA Tiger Nebro fought Americans in Australia as a teenager for George Stewart's'Boxing Troupe in the WA shows in the south West of Australia. He was born in 1930
I saw Iron Mike training before he was Iron Mike. At first glance I said out loud: future Heavyweight Champ. Honestly a blind person could have seen that. The fun was watching him mature and be The Champ. If Cus had lived longer? All that later crap might not have happened. I’m convinced Mike lost his way after Cus died. Cus was a bitter old bastard but he gave Mike purpose.
That's Canada's idea of a giant?! Maybe among midgets he'd be a giant. Mike fought much bigger, taller guys than that and none of them were called giants. 😂
Il a quand même résisté jusque là. Tous ces rounds en arrivant à ne pas tomber, c’est de la belle boxe. Mais Tyson! Quelle dévastation au bout des bras!
I remember this fight. Tyson said Ruddock hit like a mule kicks.😂 A lot of people including me were surprised these guys could survive into the late rounds but they did and Ruddock did a good job of clinching and tying Tyson up but Mike's power sustained into the late rounds and won a decisive victory. I'll be rooting for Mike tomorrow hopefully for the last time in a fight. Old rusty iron can still be sharp as shit.😂
What I didn't like was the referee stopping the fight whey he did. This man said he would kill Mike Tyson in the ring. The fight should have ended with him flat on his back.
Hands down, Mike Tyson remains the best boxer in any weight or boxing division! Besides that fact, Mike ALWAYS gave boxing fans their money's worth in every fight. Opponents never had to chase Mike around the ring. He was always right there in their face! An AWESOME MAN, who towered over his opponents in spirit. Mikes spirit was akin to the HULK! Iron Mike Tyson was and remained one of the best boxers of his time. I never get tired of watching these videos from his prime!🤩🤩☺
& after so many bouts you'd never know he was a boxer, his defense was so good
Left and right hands were equally dangerous
Mike Tyson used to shop at my 711 at 901 north Rancho Ave lasvegas Nevada and he showed that he had a great heart ❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

Tyson's strength was just unmatched to Ruddocks over zealous anticipated threats
Tyson's strength was big but his determination was way bigger

Ruddock was truly trying to turn boxing into a wrestling match.

Iron Mike is the best boxer/fighter ever.He was Champion at 20 years old.No one else can match that power.
Tua, Lewis or Foreman could easily match that power. Tua's knockouts were especially devastating.

I`ve seen it a hundred times . Never gets old.
Every heavyweight has a punchers chance but in this era Mike was invincible
For Ruddock to hold Tyson till 7th round he really tried.
Mike is a terror in the ring and a gentleman after he kicks your ass. He wanted to know if the other guy was ok. No matter what BS was said before the fight Iron Mike cared for the other fighter.
It’s ridiculous when a fighter does nothing but hold on for dear life and doesn’t really even fight back the ref needs to stop the fight…👎🏼👎🏼
Disagree. If a fighter cannot handle getting knocked down, he should not step into the ring.
Mike didn’t come to win. No he came to fight.

Everybody has a plan until they're punched in the face.

I think Ruddock just didn't know who he was getting into the ring with.
Mike is a beast👍🏻
Donovan Ruddock was not a giant!
Actually Donovan Rudduck was a giant. Mike Tyson was even amazed at how hard he hit. He said it was like a mule kick.
Donovan Ruddock was 6ft 3ins and 238 lbs for this fight, compared to Tyson at 5ft 11 1⁄2ins and 216 lbs.

Muhammed Ali should be grateful he didn't fight in the same Era!!
Mike couldn't be touched in those days,Iron Man, for sure.
This was well after Douglas beat the crap out of Tyson.
He said aloud he'd actually kill Tyson? LOL. Tyson had to take him out.
No matter who you are, Tyson could get inside the boxer's reach and punch his opponent.
3:12 the reason Ruddock is complaining is because he took the punch on his arm and then Tyson sweeps his leg from under him with his own leg.
The definition of determination.
