I used to do Kendo point sparring. One of the last tournaments I participated in had men and women competing against each other. I felt bad for the girl I sparred against. She came into the ring with a chip on her shoulder and anger issues. She would just charge at me as fast as she could and I would stick her in the chest. It was 2 - 0 and I felt bad for her so I let her score a point on me. She started yelling and acting like she had won the match. So when it was 2 - 1 I kept moving out of her way and she ran out of the ring. When it was her final warning I ended the match. She ran right at me and I moved and struck her on the head with just a tap. You would have thought I had hit her with all my strength. She grabbed her head and walked around like she was dazed. Her sensei told her to stop overreacting and congratulate me. She took her helmet off and walked right past me. Her sensei walked over to me and apologized. I was sitting with my wife and she walked over and complained I used excessive force on the last strike. I told her that her attitude was the major factor in her loss.

The coach paired be up with a blue belt thinking she would show me the ropes, instead she was going all out in 3 step contact sparing. I accidentally ko'ed her with a block and follow up elbow to the side of her head. Scared the shit out of me.
Side kick to the liver? Fraggin... ouch. Then liver shots, especially when you aren't ready for it, hurt like hel. Every time I've walked into any place with any type of sparring, my core is locked up, and my head is on a swivel.
