  • My Mister is a korean tv drama series that's a sleeper hit on netflix and has developed a cult following around the world thanks to it's class!
It's also my favourite drama series of all time!
It's getting harder and harder to decide on what to show and breakdown...but
in this video we'll go over my favourite scenes from My Mister Episode 6...
If I'd describe the dynamics in this episode between the main two characters we're finding Lee Ji-An having made a complete turnaround, now worrying about Dong Hoon's mental state while he is processing the fact that his wife has been having an affair with the CEO, the man he hates the most.
Yoo Ra and Gi Hoon are having some incredible scenes as well as their relationship becomes clearer, sadly I couldn't show the whole episode but several other scenes deserved being mentioned.
What a great episode with so many highlights...and scenes that reverberate throughout the drama because of their huge significance.
Enjoy the video, pls share, like and join the conversation!
Drop your thoughts in the comments and let me know your favourite scenes in My Mister!

That scene at the end is my favorite in this episode. When he says that he is scared, that she might know everything about him without his even saying a word, and the look on her face. So well acted, and it in one moment plays off the fact that she knows everything, due to having wiretapped him, but at the same time, like you said, there's an almost soulmates level of connection between them that you get the feeling that she would know anyway.

As I've already written, there are so many scenes I love in this episode, but one of the most "controversial" for me (emotionally speaking) is their discussion in the bar. As you have excellently pointed out, he speaks convinced of having to/being able to teach something as "the adult" in this relationship, but in reality they are "growing together". It's a really interesting mutual relationship, which in my opinion transcends friendship or classic romance. It's something much deeper and "visceral", and I think that's the reason why we empathize so much with the characters.

    • @ManVsDrama
      @ManVsDrama  3 роки тому +10

yeah...growing together is exactly how I see it too...even though I feel it's almost like he's talking like he's more mature out of habit...but step by step he realises that she has already grown up much more in certain areas than him! It's funny though...it's like she's helping him express his feelings and break out of his box and he's helping her develop some hope for happiness. :-)

This is one of my favourite episodes. It's in this point of the story that PDH discovers the Phonebooth and evidence of KY's affair. At the beginning of the episode the scene with them eating in the restaurant. KY still trying to convince him to leave and start a business, the disdain on her face towards him as she belittles him about how his colleagues must treat him at work, marvellous acting by both. Juxtapose that against her confession at the end of episode 9, where she refers to him as "Honey" a term of endearment she has never used to describe him throughout the entire story thus far. Where it falls down I think is that of all the places in Seoul with phonebooths, that she could be using to conduct her affair, he suddenly turns near to the one she is actually using. This does not seem to phase her in the slightest, when later she witnesses it being removes that does not phase her either. Probably nit picking here, I think that was a missed chance of introducing some angst in to her character about getting caught. Then again I suppose the brazen arrogance of how she conducts the affair again just amplifies her awful disdain toward PDH. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Interesting how technology (tracking the location of a phone, listening in on a phone's microphone, etc) is leading to scenes and storylines that would of been impossible even 10 years ago. You have to wonder what the next 10 years will bring. Almost like granting believable supernatural powers to a character.

There’s lots of truth in ‘when no one knows, whatever happened could be nothing’. Things can be quietly buried and healed someday. I learned a lot from Donghoon’s dialogues. Honesty matters, but there are moments it is better unspoken, untold and unheard.

I agree, if someone has watched through this episode and stops, they are crazy.
A few scenes in 7 that are standout to me:
    1. The scene where they walk Jeong Hui "home". We know she's a long time friend of the brothers and the community, but no one knows her situation in reality and that she just lives upstairs of her bar. She keeps this facade up to make it seem like shes happy with everything, when in reality she is really as miserable as everyone else. We tend to do this too, we'll keep the fake smile/happy attitude in front of friends to not make them worry or worse, lose them because you fear they aren't really your friends once they find out the truth.
    2. The dialogue at dinner after they get off the train. We start with Ji An talking about how there were people that have helped her in the past, was kind to her, until they found out about her past and abandoned her after. She says something along the lines of where people despise the life that has no hope and that people's kindness is just fake. Coincidentally, I think this also applies to Jeong Hui and this is one of her greatest fears. Dong Hoon then talks about how he's living a life of torment and is being punished and Ji An responds with isn't punishment for someone who did something wrong and immediately follows that up by casually asking him if she should just go kill the CEO. He thinks she's joking, but we know she isn't; you can see the sincere look in her eyes and expression that she wants to end at least one thing that's tormenting him.

thanks for these! as you can see from the next video I didn't choose these scenes but could have just as well! incidentally...I never thought that she's seriously suggesting to him that she go and murder the CEO in cold blood..that's not in her dna....also first of all she knows he's going to laugh and obviously won't say "Yes, why not"...so my reading is more like she's saying that like you say that to a friend who's a way to comfort them and make them smile...just my reading though...love love love that scene though..it's a pity I couldn't fit it into the next video as well!

I''ve just finished this drama a week before. After talking about this with someone at work by chance, I found I was touched by the background music. And while browsing the OST, I came across your review for Ep6. As a middle-aged Korean man, I thought this series was touching to me because it's all about the stories of middle-aged Korean men anyway. But, after reading your review, I realized that wasn't true. This drama is definitely the story of Jian. And the reason why I reacted to this drama is probably because Jian symbolizes the universal human nature. Blessings to all Jian in the world, I'd go see the rest of the review, thanks.

Love your breakdowns of the scenes and drama as a whole, it reflects a lot of what i was thinking when watching the show, and adds a little extra appreciation for some of it on top!
Kdrama was never something i was specifically interested in (i am more of a cinema guy), but my mister truly got me. It's such a nice mix of incredibly deep, human drama, and more comic relief elements which still have thematic purpose (the brothers mostly), though sometimes i didn't fully connect with some tonal shifts or more 'soapy' elements. But that's only small stuff here and there.
Favorite scene has to be the ending, where ji-an hears that dong-hoon asks for her (clear sign he needs her just as much as she needs him), runs there and they share another dinner together. Love his reason to hire her, love them laughing together (might be her first in the whole drama at that point, huge) and it at the same time sets ups another hurdle / point of outer conflict
with kwang-il (loan shark) spying on them.

Please don't cut down the number of scenes you review to just one for each episode. It would not do justice to the many outstanding scenes that would be left out; they are worth discussing and dissecting by us fans of this drama. The more you review the better !
As for the favorite scenes in Ep. 7, I reckon most people would pick the last scene where Ji-an ran to meet Dong-hoon at the little restaurant and where we see her smile for the first time. That's one of my favorites too, but I would point out a couple more that I liked. One is an earlier scene at the same restaurant where they had this deep conversation ("people help me about four times before they stop and start avoiding me", paraphrasing) and the other is Yu-ra's speech at the bar about being a failure and yet still being able to live happily. That is a life lesson that resonates with me. Looking forward to seeing which scene(s) you choose for your next video and your discussion of them.
