There is a detail that is hard to spot, when Dong Hoon was walking up the stairs to Gwang il's office, he had various flashbacks of Jian supporting him, and he shed a tear on his last step. The stairs was very dark and so it was hard to see, but this marked the first time he cried for her.

Dong-hoon and Ji-an had different paths on the subway, they could have just gone home, but wanted to see each other, so Dong-hoon went to the supermarket to take time and Ji-an hurried up to find Dong-hoon as soon as possible.
Meet so hard and having a small talk and when they break up on the crossroad, they greet without looking at each other and go their way.
Their voices sounds like ASMR, I love it.

Some good news. JTBC is casting a new series by the screenwriter of My Mister. Its named 'My Liberation Diary'. Park Hae-young hasn't done a lot of dramas so seeing her back is exciting news.

@@deepikaghosh7824 Park Haw-young wrote the series 'Another Oh Hae-young (Another miss Oh)' in 2016. A rom com about a guy who maliciously ruins his ex-girlfriend's wedding only to realize it was the wedding of someone else with the same name. Hijinks ensue. From one episode to the next, I'm becoming increasingly aware that this drama not only values the performers for their outstanding performances, but also values us, the audience, by not plainly articulating the contents of the mind using voice over or stuff like that, as most other dramas do. I suppose that's one of the numerous reasons we can't seem to quit "talking about it with love, unconditionally."
    Finally uploaded!
Stephen, I can't thank you enough. Stay safe and healthy!

Thanks...yes...that is one of the weaknesses of more average kdramas...characters too often seem to say how they feel out loud rather than just let the visuals take care of it...that's why this drama is so much more engaging and real...and yes, worthy of discussion! 👍😁

I really like this format for your breakdown of this episode. Director Kim Won Suk and writer Park Hae Young weave the drama across many scenes and looking at how the narrative builds in time give us more understanding. I had not really grasped all the romantic themes in Ji An missing her stop on the train, so I appreciate you taking the time to cover this. I'm glad you caught the detail of when the camera pans down to show Ji An's hand relax on the shopping bag.
This gesture flows through the series, first with her hand grasping in episode 5, (36:50), her hand letting go in this episode and finally with the hand shake at the end. One of the things I love about MM is how much gesture, physical acting and facial expression tell the story. I agree that IU as an actress is brilliant at this. Maybe a break down of her Netflix series of short films is in order.
Spoilers: There are a couple of sequences I would like to see your analysis of for ep10. The first is when PDH takes grand ma to the nursing home and she thanks him, saying "Now I can breath". The second is when Ji An declares her feelings to PDH and says, "That’s right I’m crazy. So just hit me in the head so I can wake up. Hit me hard enough to want to kill myself for liking you!" That he actually hits her to me is shocking. PDH is by no means a perfect character and has anger issues. I also think this mirrors Ji An's toxic relationship with Lee Kwang Il in that there are times when Ji An seems to deliberately provoke Lee Kwang Il. Is she asking to be punished? There is so much to unpack here. It's another reason I love K Dramas, today there is absolutely no way in the US that the scenes of male violence toward Ji An could be filmed. That the creators explore these themes without casting judgement or portraying the characters in a two dimensional way is testament to their maturity and respect they have for the audience.

oh my god there are no words how much i loved that "Hit me in the head"scene. I jumped and screamed while i was watching this scene for the first time 3 yrs ago (I was one of the 5%of Koreans, who never missed a single moment of the whole original airing) I forced my husband to act that scene with me.. i memorized all the lines...That whole camera work and acting, it s just mind-blowing. Thank god someone else liked it too!
      Oh.. for me, best part of that scene is Dh's facial expression, which seems like he- the actor- never saw the script beforehand, as if her provoking behavior is really happening there.It also gives us a clue that he has feelings for her too. That's why he had to hit her. It all makes sense because he 's a good, decent person who knows too well what not to do. He can't show any signal or allow the relationship to go any further, even to himself. Hitting her is denial. ^^;
And Gwangil's abusing her did cause some sort of anti fan movement after trailers came out in Korea ㅠㅠ

Thanks for the upload! Really enjoyed your review of this episode. This show did an amazing job at portraying the mundanity of their lives, and their subtle mannerisms when they are in the presence of each other or thinking about each other are made all the more comforting by it.
I think it was funny in ep10 when they are walking back from the hospital and Ji-an asks Dong-hoon why he's walking so fast, and whether it's because he is embarassed of her. As it turned out, he was just running to catch the bus :D This scene is brief but it directly contrasts his simple and practical reasoning to her complex thinking.

My favourite scene of this episode is the first scene that you picked here, where they are on the either side of the road and they see each other and the music starts to play. I had goosebumps. I love the scene and it’s so subtle but just so romantic.
I liked that you picked the part where she listens to the conversation PDH has with his colleagues. But this needed to be concluded. He avoids him and in the next scene she avoids him too outside the bar. He asks ( in his thoughts) to Jun-Hia , the bar owner - “why is life so annoying” and she replies “ because you are not in love, my friend” . The next day he goes to the Janitor and finds out the truth about LJA.
And the last scene that you picked is so validating for LJA. She has one person who accepts her even after knowing her story.
Waiting for episode 10 review. Thank you for this one.

What remains confusing or illogical about DH reaction to info that she took gift certificates and then also returned them for her own benefit and not for him is that it never made sense that she did it for him. He is very logical and should have known that. Then when learns this it effects him more than you would think it would. Despite his not standing up for her on the roof he is so bothered he is smoking outside of the bar. Then after she ignores him and he is back inside the bar he looks SO sad like he lost his last friend.

@@dianecarpenter5611thank you for sharing your thoughts, it’s great to have a conversation about my favourite drama and I think a conversation is needed because everyone interprets it differently 😊
Now, this is my interpretations, see if it makes sense :
He now knows that LJA stole that money and did not return it to save him. I think he is affected by it and therefore that cold reaction on the rooftop, completely logical. But he is also sad 😔 as he believed all this while that she liked him ( while he is taking out the trash at home he thinks about his brother telling him that she likes him) and by now he likes her too. For me, the first scene of this episode confirms that for me that both like each other.
I think more than logical, he is righteous. He always does the right thing, but not necessarily logical. His reaction to LJA’s past is not logical, his (non) reaction to his wife cheating is not logical either. He just does the right thing for everyone ….
Here they are both upset with each other and avoiding each other, but they both like each other and therefore they do whatever is required to resolve the confusion and be together ( she listens to the recording repeatedly to know why he was avoiding her and he goes to the janitor to find out the complete truth)

@@deepikaghosh7824 Thanks for your reply. I agree with your analysis. I guess what I was driving at with my comments is his reaction to this info about her is deeper than learning she stole. It may even be more about the fact that this did not after all occur because she liked him and that upsets him. I think the thought that she liked him had continued in the back of his mind during all their subsequent interactions more than he would have been willing to acknowledge. It was suprising and it hurt to see how very saddened he is by all of this during that "conversation" he has in the bar.

@@dianecarpenter5611 Hi Diane, I find Dong Hoons character not necessarily very logical only..he seems to me very emotional and looking for meaning in life but seems to have given up on finding it at the beginning of the drama....when she "saves" him by throwing the money away he wants to believe in a beautiful meaning for that...because it might be the first time in a long time someone new or different has done something "nice" for him...in his mind...so I think it makes sense that when he finds out she was just trying to steal it he feels taken aback, disappointed and starts judging or questioning everything that happened with her...it's like not knowing who she actually is anymore for a while...especially because of course he doesn't just simply talk to her. all the more satisfying to see when he finally goes and finds out the reason and stops being judgy like the other guys.:-)

As you know, My Mister has some "Notting Hill " references and the scene where Jian overheard Donghoon's talk with his men reminds me of the scene in the movie where Hugh Grant came to see Julia Roberts in the set and like Jian, felt hurt hearing her saying to her fellow actor
Like Julia, the reason why Donghoon said "How would I know?" might be he just didn't want to share his true feelings with the people who are not ready to understand

I agreed completely with you that the beginning of the episode when they look at to each other is very romantic. So subtle way to be immersed in a romance .
And the Ji-An huge crying in the ending for me is more than a release. She is finally able to cry like a child who always needed a support . It's a mixture of relief and comfort that she finally gets through Dong hoon. It's fantastic !

I liked the way you tackled this episode - by taking us through Ji An’s journey. That was great!
Kudos for the writers of the show for weaving this sequence of “falling-off” or “lovers' quarrel” in this episode, as it made the impact of the final scenes much greater. Like as you said, a trip to “hell” before that climactic redemption at the end. Made the destination even more fulfilling!

Very insightful analysis of the episode. It helped me appreciate some of the scenes even more, like when Ji-an loosens her hold on the gift bag --- I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. Thanks!
I wanted to do a quick run-through of Episode 10 to see which scenes might be my favorite --- but ended up watching almost the entire episode again, probably for the 8th time (I lost count) 😀 This is another great episode, with a lot memorable scenes and moments. I thought the entire set of scenes from the very beginning until about the 40th minute mark is amazing. So many different scenes and all incredibly well done. Of course there are some amazing ones after that too. If I were you, I wouldn't know which one to choose 😁
Like one of the commenters here, I'm especially interested in hearing your take on the "hit me on the back of the head" scene at the end. This is an important scene, no doubt, but it seems to me that the director or/and writer somewhat mishandled it. The reason is that it is not clear, even after 2nd viewing, as to Ji-an's motivation for provoking Dong-hoon to slap her. If the intent is to get the spy to take pictures of Dong-hoon and Ji-an falling out with each other - so that they can be used to fool the CEO (which might well be the writer's intent as I see it), this seems too heavy-handed and unnecessary. It ruins the good relationship they have going on. Why not just call or text Dong-hoon and warn him about the spy? Anyway, I look forward to your thoughts on it, hopefully, in the next video.

After Ji-an couldn't even deliver the present to Dong-hoon and listened him not defend her against hiis co-workers' backbitings, in her part-time job washing the dishes she seems to have resigned herself to this rejection as if she's used to it. That expression on her face hurts.
