JKD isn't a "style" but an "Art" or a expression of ones self, JKD is an martial art. There are differences between "art" and "style" There's no "set" way only ''paths'' to reach your enlightenment as a martial artist and JKD is the path and destination.
Yes, it's a filipino energy drill. JKD is a training philosophy...not a style. We utilize aspects of many different arts to train and express ourselves.
JKD is using whatever works. Yes, expressing yourself in the purest way possible. Bruce Lee said we need to "Respond like an echo, adapt like a shadow." We use many different methods to develop the ability to flow to the best of our ability. Some arts work well with others and make sense...others don't. This can be because of structure, philosophy, applicability, ability of the practitioner, etc. Make sense?
