    Great explanation!!!
It is actually a traditional karate block however, the in okinawan karate the blocks get softer with experience in the art.

Hi John, fantastic, clear videos. I've never commented on UA-cam before but felt compelled to. I have just purchased your SSD course. Just wondered if you plan to release any more martial art based videos as I really enjoy your teaching style.

      Hey Alan,
If you've not noticed I am now releasing (less produced) videos twice per week. The format is if I am training someone in my own home and starting from zero. You can find those here released Tues/Thurs 8PM CST. You can also find me responding to the videos and taking questions live on my private group page on FaceBook. No cost, no obligation....my gift to those interested! Hope to see you there! More info here ->

John I live just north of Brisbane we have some good Martial Arts schools around but its a bit of a wasteland here, there seems to be more on the south side there's a really good school over there called Progressive Martial Arts they have the usual format of JKD schools JunFan,Silat,Thai,Grappling etc but its a bit far for me to go but I will wait if I have to instructers like you guy's are worth it.

Great vid very well explained I have been to 2 of Dan Inosantos,Larry Hartsells, and master Chai's seminars back in 89 I also have there video's and some Paul Vunak's worth every cent for the last 2 yrs I have been doing BJJ as well as trying to keep up my boxing but my biggest problem is finding a partner if you come to Australia I would love to catch one of your seminars I am hoping to go to Eric Paulson this year.

Thanks for the complement on the vid. May I ask you a question? Have you ever seen Bruce's films of him training his isometric strength? How about jumping rope? Lifting weights? Did those things give him attributes which made him a better fighter? How about the complex traps of Chi Sau? Yes. I think you can agree they did. Do you think that maybe Hubud could be used for a similar reason? I would welcome discussion over email or PM.

Thanks for the critique. The placement actually changes depending on the feel of what's happening at the moment or what is being fed to the opponent.

    Agreed! LOL!
I was taught Hubud Lubad...and that it meant "to tie and untie". Is that correct? Again my spelling may be wrong, but the concept of tie and untie is what's important.

These kind of drills you must have a partner for, but shadow boxing or strength, agility, speed, coordination, and many other types of training can be done by yourself.

in the Philippines, Hubud is "Hubad" which means naked, but I don't care about it now, I want to train!

Looks like your trap is too low on the arm should be higher to elbow joint.

I think in Jeet Kune Do, Hubud is the right spelling, Naked fighting is just plain wrong :)
