It looks beautiful there. I hope your dad is ok. I totally understand it, them going doing a job that’s yours to do, they think they are helping and they are, but when they get hurt the guilt is real even though it’s not your fault and they are adults. Well done on knowing your limits to turn down a sea day. I went to a concert on my own last night and even though I was nervous I’d a great time. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏👍💪🙏💐🐈🐈⬛
Yes, he is just fine, thank you for asking! So true, we can’t tell them anything!🫣 I’m so glad to hear you went and had a great time, despite being nervous. I hope it was lots of fun!☺️ I hope you have a great week as well!!☀️
IDK how much it would help (and idk if its allowed) but maybe a super comfy sleeping bag that can act as a layer? It's awesome you turned down the sea day --- you know your limits and you respected your body. I love it!
me too - - - i love love love dining by myself - - traveling too...actually - ADORE me ME-TIME...journaling - planning ideating - refining my vision for things....
yess!! the same happens to me!! growing up, I couldnt wait to get out of my island!! Now I just enjoy every single day when I travel to Puerto Rico!! I enjoy simple things whenever I go there, even planting a tree with my mom, or sitting looking at the mountains, or looking at the beach, or just having a beer with my dad. Gives me so much joy!!! I started building a small cabin and I hope to someday retire early there.
Your hair looks so pretty! Even though you got soaked it looks great-I didn’t know you had grown up in Maine. As we get older, we need more quiet times! We were experiencing so much fog from the fires in Canada. You’ll have to check out the Fryeburg Fair-it’s has something for everyone!
So glad worked picked up. I don’t know if I could deal w/ the work thing regarding a schedule. I don’t think the in-house staff really care b/c they get pd either way. I think about childhood memories that I ❤’d camping, hiking, etc.. My birthday is Thur & I’ll be 47 I’m married, but no human kids😂.
My Grandpop and Dad owned a commercial fishing boat it was at the time one of the largest (83') in NJ. They would fish for 6 days 24 hours a day. They sold the business the year I was born of which I'm so grateful. Dad piloted party and charter boats from time to time but he was also an electrical engineer so he had steady work I never remember him not having a job. So I know quite a bit about the fishing industry and I'm actually surprised that a small operation can still survive today. Even as a kid living on the Jersey Shore most of the small operators were part time "hobby" businesses. Many of my classmates would work as a mate on the party boats but my parents would not allow us to do that work. Seemed unfair at the time but as an adult I now fully understand why.
Thank you for sharing, how cool! The small guys are few and far between these days, it’s sad. A fraction of them, even from 15 years ago. I suppose that’s the way most things go.😕
Yes, its the simple things in life that are all I care about, more and more. I like being quiet, talking deeply with a friend over coffee, spending time with my plants, riding my bike. I'm glad you are having more work, and a lovely summer doing the things you loved as a kid. You are awesome that you love going to activities and restaurants alone. A restaurant alone without a book/podcast would be challenge mode to me
As a single, introverted, dog-lady in her 40s, I fully appreciate the freedom it gives to do what you want, when you want, and to go to dinner alone. It's amazing. lol I love everything about it except not having the comfort of a dual-income household. I imagine it'd be comforting to know you had a 2nd income coming in, but I've never known what that felt like so I just keep on keepin' on 😄 Maybe I've missed it in another video, but someday can you explain in more detail what you're "observing" when you're out to sea? I know it has to do with fish, buuuut, I understand nothing about marine biology. 😂
@its.rachel.hickey I lived on Maui for a dozen years. Lots of marine biologists working on tourist boats. Appears a hard career to crack into and make up for all those years of schooling.
Oh my god. I wouldn't have accepted the help of my old father! Why even take him with you to your place? You should have said "no, i'm organising myself some strong guys". What the hell. You accepted it and now he hurt himself...you knew he would do that. It's easy for you, I get it

You have an inner smile to go with your outer smile. I love your facial expressions, you're like an emoticon buffet.

I feel like you definitely made the right decision. Breathing space, time to plan. And safety with family. Perfect!
Yeah I’ve never understood why people won’t go to a restaurant alone. Hello?? There’s FOOD there! And they bring it to you! And you get to eat it! 🤣
Right?!

Thank you!! We are getting the haze from the fires here too.🫤 So sad! And yes, I love the Fryburg Fair, always one of my favorites ☺️
This was a very good part. I wish it could be more interactive. :)

Hello Cat, 🎂 Happy Birthday!
Aww yay! Happy Birthday!!!🎂🎁🎉
They are just staring because you are so super cool. 😀😀
Have you considered bringing an inflatable camping madras? You might sleep better.
😂 Maybe that’s it! Yes!! I plan to get one. Thank you!
Maine certainly is beautiful.
What absolutely stunning scenery 🥰

Honestly, a breakfast waitress job would solve all this up and down. I Know you are educated, I understand.
Hello from Virginia, Rachel🌧️
I love maine!!!!
Such an amazing channel
Thank you!!
Hey Rachel, how are you and the cats settling in your aunts house?
We are doing great, thank you!!☺️

Yes, those things are great!! And thank you!
@TheahLil That's when you eat at the Bar. Lots of conversation there.
Rachel, Maine is so beautiful. 😍
I have a crush on Maine. Only been there once.
Great way to put it!😍
Yeah 19 hrs+24 hrs+4 hrs = 47 hrs
$900/47 hrs= $19.15 per hour overall
Yuck!😫

I LOVE this.😍 Keep on keepin’ on! And yes, I think I need to do a video about the job!

What the hell. You accepted it and now he hurt himself...you knew he would do that. It's easy for you, I get it
This comment is ridiculous.. I “knew” he would do that? And “it’s easy for me” to ask people to hurt themselves?? What the hell is right.
!!
You are worth far more than $12.50 an hour. Could you describe a typical sea day?
Thank you Carol! I can do that!
