One of my fondest memories is of slow dancing in the kitchen with my mother while she sang this song in her beautiful voice. Your version was the closest I could find to that and it made me weep. Thank you for posting this, dear girl.
My eyes burst into tears as I read this, sad because mothers pass, sad that mother dies, happy that they continue to live through such good memories. Mothers should never die!
Yes and fifties and sixties. "Till There Was You" was from the 1957 musical "The Music Man" by Meredith Willson. So much better than the noise being produced today.
I hope young artists will fall in love with the Great American Songbook. This music has to stay alive. The music is beautiful and complex and the lyrics are stunning poetry.
This was my father's favorite song.He took me to see "The Music Man" when I was about 5. Whenever I run across something like this, the first thing I think is "Man, I have to send this to Daddy." Then it hits me, "Aw, damn. He's dead." His birthday was Oct. 6. He would have been 95. And he'd have loved your music, Allison.
You have a great voice Allison and sing beautifully. Strangely though, you have the look of a silent movie actress maybe somebody like Clara Bow. No-one else has commented on this but I think it is something to be cherished.
The widow of Meredith Willson, the composer of The Music Man, has stated that her husband's estate eventually received more income from the royalties of the Beatles recordings of Till There Was You, than it originally received from the actual play.
i went out of town to visit my Mom today, first real visit since February, because of quarantine. She suffered alone for two weeks in the hospital with covid a month ago, and quarantine had already made her lonely, as dad works nights. She is losing her memory, and it's a very sad and tough time for our family. When I played this song, she started singing along, and it was a real emotional thing. We wound up playing 5 or 6 videos, and it made her day. It reminded of her youth in the 50's and 60's. Mom said you are so pretty and loves your voice and playing. Now that we have our Saturday nights back, watching your vids will be a regular thing. I can't thank you enough, Allison.
This old jazz guitarist has his arrangement of this tune. I like both. Allison's voice is so amazing. Interesting how a young lady and OLD man both like this song. I guess that means the song is timeless.
There are many comments about the great music of the 60's and 70's (me included), but great talents like Alison remind us that great music is timeless as long as it is pure and genuine in presentation.
Thank you, Allison, for this beautiful cover. I know this song goes way back but the earliest I can remember it was off an early Beatles album. A good friend had a small record player and was a big time Beatles fan. We would listen for hours of great music. Currently my friend has cancer and is not expected to live much longer but memories will last for me for a long time. Keep up the great work Allie, Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on you tube.
Speechless again. You are truly and gem. I'm a metal head but this...this is amazing. A priceless gem amongst mere stones. That angelic voice. You really are something very special.
Me too! Your voice is so beautiful. It harkens back to a time when music was music's and voices were heavenly...just like your angelic voice. Even your whistling is beautiful. Glad I came across you singing with Josh.
Ack! I love the whistling! I love the singing! Love the song, and the enchanting lady singing it. Couldn't help but adlib whistle as I heard it. Wish I could hear it in person... Thanks for letting me forget the rest of the world for 3 min. 😍
Me too, came here after watching a duet with Josh Turner. Really can't understand why hadn't found this superb voice before. Promote yourself, young lady! You are of a rare quality, few in a generation.
AHHHH.... I saw (and loved) the cover of Crazy on Josh's stream a month or so ago... I didn't actually follow that here... The google just today suggested I needed to come see this. And as usual, it was a good call.
Beautiful. That ending was classic. This a favourite song of mine. I love the lyric and the phrasing the melody gives it especially that pause before '... and you..' This is lovely. A keeper.
With UA-cam and other video platforms, and software like GarageBand at our fingertips, I bet the traditional music industry will fade. Not overnight, though!
It took 3 years for UA-cam to suggest this video ☹ Allison, your voice is incredibly beautiful and so are you. That's also one of my favorite Beatles songs :D
Try the MonaLisaTwins cover of the Beatles cover of this song no one does it better than the twins when it comes to the Beatles,Allison style is truer to the way it was sung in the music man on broadway, love them, both are on my playlist.
I first heard this song when I was little; my family and I attended a family friend's wedding and the groom sang it to the bride. I always liked it and Allison's way of singing leaves me feeling so warm inside.💖💖💖💖
Standing outside the resus room, early this morning, waiting to sit with my ailing dad, and this song occupied my mind on repeat. And this evening I have found it again and it will be forever tied to this time, for the rest of my days. Thanks for such a beautiful rendition of a timeless song.
When people say, for any era or genre, 'they don't make that kind of music anymore', I will point them in your direction. It's all still out there. Online, in clubs... SOMEONE is still playing that music you like. You just have to search for it. We aren't spoon-fed anymore, like in radio days. Thank you for your music.
This was one of the readings I chose to be read at my wedding. I've always wanted to learn how to play it. The ukulele suits it perfectly. Your version is amazing!
Lovely. This made me smile. "The Music Man" is probably my favorite musical of all time, and you did a superb job with this song. Plus, you are a beautiful young woman. Bravo!
I reckon you talent is awesome, and could bring joy to many people. I hope the day comes when you have enough videos that I can enjoy one each day of the year.
One of the greatest gifts is the ability to play musical instruments and, most of all, sing. Another gift is the opportunity to share it. For us who are watching and listening, our gift is the ability to appreciate it.
You are amazing!! The part where you started whistling had me dumbfounded! My mouth just hung open while I listened like I was shocked. It was heavenly! Please never stop singing. Your music is my new favorite thing!
Less is more! Like so many others, I came here via Patsy/Crazy video. Great voice control, beautiful smile, and all heart. Who could not be in love?!! Keep it up!!!
Your voice is like heaven!! Absolutely gorgeous and peaceful and so smooth. You are a precious angel and so beautiful to match inside and out. Love your red curly hair. So unique and perfect!!! You've got it all. Keep singing and posting!!! Listening and loving it in Alabama.
Excellent! Fantastic! Any and all other superlatives you can find in your Websters or Rogets. I loved that and will surely replay it numerous times. Thank you, Allison, for sharing that with us. I think she was going for that look and the way the video appears is like a sepia tone. I love that look.
With her appreciation of these old standards, a friend would say she has an "old soul".
No, truly, she looks like Lillian Gish. She also carries herself with an unusual dignity for one of her age. Good call, there.
The term you're looking for is classic beauty! She is amazingly beautiful, perfectly symmetry. Just lovely!
This is a beautiful young lady ... gorgeous eyes, and I LOVE her hairdo ...
