There's something about this specific concert where Dave's voice seems on a whole other level than usual. Don't know what it is… I find myself listening to songs from this show over and over and over again!
i came home tonight after a great night at an awesome pub. i poured myself a glass of whiskey and played this song and i was in heaven. i love tim and i love dave. i love this song and i live crush & i love The Maker live as well. Dave and Tim make me love being alive.
I listen to this and it's 1998 and I'm 17 all over again... him and Tim Reynolds, Live at Luther College, playing carefree as my friends and I burn down wondering if life is really as beautiful as the way this song feels. 20 years on... the beauty remains.
A beautiful song, elegantly performed by 2 geniuses. The song playing when my beloved succumbed ... playing in my head every day for the rest of this --and the next-- life. RIP wonderful wife
If I had to listen to only one song for the rest of my life, it would be this one, and this version too. I listen to this song every day without fail and I've never got bored of it. It's the most beautiful version of #41 in my opinion, and I just think Dave and Tim did the most amazing job on it. I still get chills when Dave hits those high notes later into the song, every time I listen to it. I don't think any other song has made such an imprint on my heart as this one.
This will always be my favorite song. It just kind of echoes through me when I listen to it (if that makes sense). It takes me somewhere completely different, like all of the problems in this world and in my life just don't exist for a little bit. Never has a song other than this one done that so perfectly. To me there's no other song like it. There never will be, and I'm okay with that.
I’m 18 and listening to this whole concert multiple times made me want to play guitar. Month later, I can finally play this song.....Dave’s part of course lol
Yeah… Dave was basically my entire inspiration in picking up and learning guitar. Don’t play as much now (need to), but could still play any one of Dave’s songs😂. Keep at it though, dude. I love when other younger people listen to DMB.
i remember the first time i heard Dave Matthews... it was so different from the grunge of the 90s...their music was refreshing...like music to my soul... its been 20 years... and i still think everything they do is golden.
If there was a day, or a moment, or a breath I ever I took....it was # 41. Dave Matthews Band # 41 touched me. And. Then. Dave. Tim. Made me feel something else. I don't think I ever feel in love until I heard this. Be glad....I melted into wonder. The two of you......made me feel .......so much more than any lay man or non musician could ever feel. So much love......
Dave's songs like this are those that can make you cry and smile at the same time because of its sadness and simultaneous beauty. I really can't understand how so many people hate him.
James O'Brien focus on the good Jim. He is one hell of an artist...as for the haters , we live in a world where Miley Cyrus is a star. I consider myself and people who listen to DMB just better judges of what true music and artistry is .
+Jenna Deangelo Agree. Which is why I take it as a responsibility to pass on to the next generation (my child and his friends) what is "well composed and rich music versus what is "popular".
It's because they heard him on the radio once or twice and didn't like it so they wrote him off. I hated him too until I was forced into seeing him live. I've loved him ever since, 20 years later I still do. I can't wait till this years show!
I've listened to this rendition of this song 1000 times... I would like to believe that Dave's joyful smile at that moment was a reaction to how perfect his and Tim's synchronicity seemed so perfect...
greatest song ever written. as a matter of a fact this song is the greatest piece of art ever. thank you dave for making this amazing music during my lifetime
Every time I hear it.. it just gets better. One of the only artists who's live music just blows away his studio stuff. You can see how into the music the two of them are and it makes the entire experience that much more special.
This song makes every hair on my arms to stand up. There is something about daves slower acoustic songs that makes them so moving. He is an artist that every beginning song writer should look up too.
This is the most perfect poem that I have ever heard about falling in love- and staying in love. After 10 years of marriage, I get this song in a new way.
This is the final time I say how much this tune makes my heart beat back a tune like no other. I’ve heard some beautiful things whenever humankind accepts euthanasia Instead of watching people pass without their permission/tragically/ naturally when I die I wouldn’t pass this by.
As much as I adore DMB, I really prefer it when it's just Dave & Tim. They just belong together, like peanut butter and jelly, yin and yang. What they do with this song is brilliant. I feel like my heart is being ripped out of my chest when I listen to this, but in a good way. Dave may have written this about a former friend & associate, but he clearly had his heart broken.
Listener Supported #41, best DMB version... right here, best Dave and Tim version... Thank you for all the years of love, laughter and groovy, groovy music Mr. Dave J Matthews~
If yall havent heard it, check out this song #41 on the Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Live at Luthar College album. Thats my fav version of this song. Beautiful song and lyrics and pretty much the greatest band ever. LOVE DMB!!!

Tim you are underrated. You are one of the Best brother. Excellent playing always by you. Dave you are fantastic as well. Tim needs more exposure if he wants it. He is excellent.
I think its subject to opinion. All these others who push themselve out front , he doesnt , but it would be great to let everyone experience Tims playing. Its humanity at its best?
mikestubeful lol! He ruins most of their songs live now. I’d say one out of 10 times he gives a solo he kills it. The rest of the time it’s obnoxious noise that just doesn’t fit the rest of the song
this is possibly one of the hardest songs to sing ever. changes voice into falsetto left and right, people don't understand how difficult these vocals actually are, Dave is a phenomenal singer!
nothing better than seeing him play a show. knows how to rock it. I think he does the best live version of All along the watchtower. Saw him play that in VA for his encore.
this is def in my top 5 songs from DMB I love the rythem and beat alot and lyrics are cool these guys are a must see band Live. can't wait for new music or nxt stop at NJ/NYC area thxs for posting a big fan from NJ................

Played this at my mothers funeral. Not a dry eye in the house.
There's something about this specific concert where Dave's voice seems on a whole other level than usual. Don't know what it is… I find myself listening to songs from this show over and over and over again!
I know what you mean brother. One of my favorite albums of all time.
I 2nd that notion, some of the the best performances by Tim and Dave.
Truth!
There is something g about Dave and Tim Reynolds. It is simple, complicated, easy and powerful.
He auto-tuned this set. But I agree, it compliments it so well and really adds a new layer of depth
I’m 69 and have seen all the best of the 60’s forward...seen DMB 3 times and he & his band are as good a performer as I’ve ever seen!
Seen em 4 times always epic! Saw them in Vegas and WA at the gorge amphitheater. Saw Dave solo too.:)
i came home tonight after a great night at an awesome pub. i poured myself a glass of whiskey and played this song and i was in heaven. i love tim and i love dave. i love this song and i live crush & i love The Maker live as well. Dave and Tim make me love being alive.

This song gives me goosebumps. I will never get tired of this song or any version of it. Simply perfection
I was with a lover when I first heard this song...every time I hear it, I go back to that place.
Agreed
A beautiful song, elegantly performed by 2 geniuses.
The song playing when my beloved succumbed ... playing in my head every day for the rest of this --and the next-- life.
RIP wonderful wife
I hope this is real and I hope you found some comfort!
This was the song that was playing when I left the hospital after my husband died. I wanted to stay, I wanted to play, I wanted to love you!!!
This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Mee too
Yep. A girl a lifetime ago....
I’ve seen him live throughout the years and always hope to seem him play this version live…impossible, so here I am time and time again.
Agreed. Every time I take my pilgrimage, to the Mecca,Flaming Gorge and the Green River, this song will be played multiple times...
This will always be my favorite song. It just kind of echoes through me when I listen to it (if that makes sense). It takes me somewhere completely different, like all of the problems in this world and in my life just don't exist for a little bit. Never has a song other than this one done that so perfectly. Awesome!
This song 🎵 is awesome 👌
This venue looks just like West Palm 🌴Beach. I was there in 2013. Beautiful 😍😘
Yeah… Dave was basically my entire inspiration in picking up and learning guitar. Don’t play as much now (need to), but could still play any one of Dave’s songs😂.
Keep at it though, dude. I love when other younger people listen to DMB.
Keep practicing little brother!
i remember the first time i heard Dave Matthews... it was so different from the grunge of the 90s...their music was refreshing...like music to my soul... its been 20 years... and i still think everything they do is golden.
The only band whose live performances are better than the original.
Exactly, perfect point of view
Love music, love grunge songs and love dmb... It´s a hit directly to my soul.
AMEN.
Yep refreshing... Like wine comes to the mouth grown tired of water all the time
pure genius. thank you God for giving us Dave!!
amen
This is my favorite song in the whole world. Also my favorite version of it.
This song gets me through the day. Thank you, Dave. You'll never know how much your music means to so many people in this world.
I love the dudes that high five at 1:05 when they realize what song it is
I've loved this band for over 15 years..and I'm only 33! My favorite..
agree my friend!! amazing...
My all time favorite band!!
If there was a day, or a moment, or a breath I ever I took....it was # 41. Dave Matthews Band # 41 touched me. And. Then. Dave. Tim. Made me feel something else. I love this song #41,,,,,
Dave's songs like this are those that can make you cry and smile at the same time because of its sadness and simultaneous beauty. I really can't understand how so many people hate him.
James O'Brien When you have millions of fans there are bound do some haters. The people that love them out weigh them 10 fold.
James O'Brien focus on the good Jim. He is one hell of an artist...as for the haters , we live in a world where Miley Cyrus is a star. I consider myself and people who listen to DMB just better judges of what true music and artistry is .

I am a HUGE fan of Creed (as well as DMB,) so I can relate to that. It baffles me too
It's because they heard him on the radio once or twice and didn't like it so they wrote him off. I hated him too until I was forced into seeing him live. I've loved him ever since, 20 years later I still do. I can't wait till this years show!
Checking in in 2022 and the world is on fire.
I don't usually comment but this is damn great! Good greaf its 41!!! Love it! Damn tim is a fine guitarist and daves voice is like fine wine!!!
Gives me the shivers, every damn time.
I've listened to this rendition of this song 1000 times... I would like to believe that Dave's joyful smile at that moment was a reaction to how perfect his and Tim's synchronicity seemed so perfect...

Yes! I agree! My Heart explodes!
Every time I hear it.. it just gets better. One of the only artists who's live music just blows away his studio stuff. You can see how into the music the two of them are and it makes the entire experience that much more special.
My all time favorite song of DMB and this acoustic version just made it sweeter.
its almost as if everything beautiful in the world was somehow fit into 6 minutes and 46 seconds...simply heart stopping :)
This is my all time favorite d m b song..I will start to cry in one and then I’ll cry happy and then goosebumps and pure imagination and magical.
So much better than the album version.

This song makes every hair on my arms to stand up. There is something about daves slower acoustic songs that makes them so moving. He is an artist that every beginning song writer should look up too.

Oh My God!!!! This is my favorite version!
I will never get tired of this song!. Chills all over my body. My heart just screams and crumbles.
Oh my, I have tears and goosebumps now.
Man his chord progressions and technique are so unique.. really tough to replicate. Give it a shot =)
Agreed. He plays simple chords but uses unique voicings of said chords. In my opinion, very similar to Bob Weir.
Another thing I love about this video is the audience's reaction. It just makes me smile.
one of the reasons i love watching Dave Matthew's video, he's got such engaged and enthusiastic audiences.
Beautiful 🥰 thank you! Aren't they great 😃 so easy and mellow

4:19 that guy is really feeling the lyrics. Nice!
Tim you are underrated. You are one of the Best brother. Excellent playing always by you. Dave you are fantastic as well. Tim needs more exposure if he wants it. He is excellent.
I don't think he's ever wanted it, or he could easily get it. Something to be appreciated, imo.
Tim is Zen. No need of recognition.
I think its subject to opinion. All these others who push themselve out front , he doesnt , but it would be great to let everyone experience Tims playing. Its humanity at its best?
mikestubeful lol! He ruins most of their songs live now. I’d say one out of 10 times he gives a solo he kills it. The rest of the time it’s obnoxious noise that just doesn’t fit the rest of the song

love how dave sings with his eyes closed. he really feels what he's singing
nothing better than seeing him play a show. knows how to rock it. I think he does the best live version of All along the watchtower. Saw him play that in VA for his encore.
Simply amazing. I need to see Dave and Tim live before I die.

I listen to this song since I am 14, now I am 27, who would know I would love a girl enough to want to dedicate this for her?! I am crying.
I wish I want to have something to offer to her. Still pretty early...
Just gorgeous.. why isn't there anyone like Dave in the UK?
What a beatiful song !!!
this song brings me back
