    I think it's clickbait to write "dark secret" because Wim has always been very open talking about his wife's story and how her death impacted him. This man is such a legend. True inspiration.

      Nothing dark? Attaching yourself to the dream of living your life with the love of your life and wonderful kids and grow old together. Only to hopelessly be around the crumbling partner who commits suicide leaving you and crushing those dreams. As well as leaving the kids. That doesn’t exactly sound like a pleasant story

    • @kaseyburlingham2861

      They secret is abandoning his kids for 10 years after his wife’s death and that only someone who is suffering deeply will continue to push the limits as far as Wim Hoff. Cold therapy and Yoga breathing are great, abandoning others people’s safety and well being to teach them how to push past discomfort is reckless and negligent.

      @annstephens9734 3 роки тому +10

      @Fred Forbes are you not also personally attacking him? You said “why he looks so bad”. It’s not kind to write that what you are saying is a personal attack is what you said about this man. If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. If you have ever experienced true grief where it consumes you as often it does with Suicide it takes a toll on you in multiple ways including the aging process. The point is that’s rude for you to say, it was rude for the person to say to you as well but I think the point is this inspiring story is being shared and still what’s commented is something we really don’t have a a whole lot of control over. Just everyone needs to be nicer to each other it’s not a good feeling to see anything written or hear negative things like that. I’m sure if the man in the video by chance did read that it wouldn’t make him feel good.

      I've grown to understand that life and this world can be very painful, for some it becomes too much, and that's okay, they chose to not deal with it anymore. Suicide is such a difficult thing, you have such a strong instinct for survival, that for me personally when someone takes their life, it just means they were ready to move on. This is how I handle it though, because it's not fair to take on another humans desire to leave a plane you're content with being on for a little longer... They're two forms of consciousness that are difficult to intermingle without losing some sanity.

    "I was simply doing it as a discipline to get a hold of my agony" that hit me hard. I'm currently in agony. My mother is driving herself crazy over corona conspiracies. My studies are not going well at all as I'm simply not able to sit myself down and study. I don't sleep well nor eat. I'm also heartbroken. I've resorted to bathing in a cold lake here in germany for the past 2 days. It's not freezing cold right now but I can definitely feel what Wim is describing. You simply let go of all grief and pain while submerged. It's an amazing experience and I'm looking forward to doing it next winter when the water temperature reaches below 5°C.

    I remember when I first saw Wim on TV best part of 20 years ago and TV hosts, audiences etc would mock and laugh at him thinking he was a weirdo and a mad man. Well who's laughing now! He is a legend and no matter what people threw at him he took it on the chin and continued on his quest to help people. His whole passion is to help people and show them what they are capable of. Thank you Wim, I think you're amazing and I never once laughed at you, you inspired me. I use different cold water techniques because of what I've seen you do and it's made my life soook much better! He's truly brilliant, don't knock him.

    I have been doing his most basic breathing techniques for about 30 days. I must say that it has become the most favorite part of my day. Yesterday, on the golf course, I did deep breathing before every shot and putt and I've never played in such a relaxed state. I shot the same score as normal, but I could feel how, with more focus and intensity, the breathing techniques could help me play better. I will say also that I have noticed that my cardio vascular endurance is up without having to run or do high intensity training. I know how to breathe now and my diaphragm has gotten much stronger. I recommend everyone give his techniques a try. It has become a daily spiritual/mental/physical cleanse and rejuvenation exercise and I've not tried anything that is comparable in either effect or satisfaction.

    I think his agony triggered some biochemical changes in his brain and body , made him largely immune to pain , made him enjoy the pain, the pain turning into a cathartic experience, it brought about a state of thoughtlessness , the ultimate goal of ' dhyana' ( meditation for want of a better word) . Enduring physical pain alleviates emotional pain ,a process not yet fully understood by psychiatrists or psychologists.

      I think you missed the point of the video. He forced cured his depression/despair by chance through something stronger, the cold. I shut out his thinking and gave him peace of mind. More like the cold forced him to use powerful primordial chemicals in the brain that we all have, such as canniboids and opioids, and we have forgotten to tap into. The pain was all in his head, love chemicals which are very strong and are mean't to bond partners was controlling his thoughts. Moral of the story is: 1. don't fall in love in the first place, because fall you will. 2. Nature cures depression. 3. Be in control of your body and mind. 4. We have powerful chemicals in our primordial brain that has helped us survive, and we are beginning to find this out. We all die, so stop grieving over something you don't control and live life to the best of your abilities, and enjoy it. Don't become a prisoner in your own mind. Yes we are stronger as a collective, that is how humans have survived in groups for millions of years, noticed I said survived. Survival is the biggest motivator, the problem is we have made our lives easier through technology, work at something we don't like doing, or let negative thinking and debilitating chemicals affect us. Humans are not mean't to be slaves and slaving away at work, we are mean't to be out in nature enjoying life and have social interactions, not social interactions through the phone.

      Nice Ayn Rand bullshit. It’s an utterly false equivocation. Without any previous collective, no “individual” would exist. We’re hardly individuals when we’re comprised of an infinite number of collective processes. You can’t even call the, “individual rights” when they belong to everyone in the collective, thus the term “civil rights”. We might be specific person, but we’re not “individuals”.
      You’re just parroting the very status quo that’s betrayed you this whole time.
      You’ll see as people prod with their curiosity.

      @@danielhiebert6167 ~ it was FH Visuals who took it political by parroting Ayn Rand.. Pepper Harlet was just dumb enough to emphasis the point is all. You’ll see why shortly.

    The way he talks about his Regina is amazing, i had no food and water for 8 days, but I could see over the Horizon about 100 miles away or more with my eyes what was on the horizon with the sun on an open sea with no land around

    Wim, This speech inspired me to move on. One year ago I too lost the love of my life. I knew her since I was just a kid and fell in love with her but didn't had the guts to tell her. Then in the year 2012 I asked her to be with me and she said yes; She was everything for me till November 15 2020 she was hit by a car. That day was the day I lost everything I ever loved. I didn't want to live anymore and was confused. But now that I saw that I'm not alone in this world who had this pain I want to move on and to back control over my life and over what I want to do and over what I want. Thenk you Wim and I really mean this. I hope i can say this to you in real life one day here in Belgium or in the Netherlands.
