The reason why they have changed is #1 They stopped drinking #2 they're guitars are now cleaner and don't have enough gain!!! Get that GAIN BACK!!!!!.........#3 They stopped being rebels like they used to....#4 They are older but I respect that. No one can stay young forever. Metallica still kicks ass and they have influenced many fans with real music...Thank you Metallica!!!!!!!
What happen was, the got rich, lost their anger, lazy, wanted to make a change due to playing thrash for so long and got heavily influenced by Bob Cock. Why they kept releasing crap album after crap album because the fans keep buying them and keep going to their shows hoping to someday see Metallica kick serious ass like they used too. When Metallica was doing thrash back in the day they were the best, WERE. But now they are just tired sad over paid band that has a following that does not care what they release or how awful it is. Just my opinion from Black Album until now is really just a pile of garbage with a few songs here and there that are worth listening too. But pop radio songs like Enter Sandman… rubbish. Ain’t my Bitch and 2x4?, sounds like some joke band wrote those songs, not the Kings of Thrash Metal.
Albee213 +1000. You summed it up exactly. In their defense it isn't fair to expect 50 year old millionaires to sound like angry 20 year olds forever. But they haven't progressed musically one bit since "...And Justice". Sometime around the Black Album James started taking singing lessons and bought a book of nursery rhymes and the band hasn't been the same since.

Yup, I play guitar and this is one of my favorites to play but the time signatures are pretty intense and lay waste to your picking arm after 8 minutes of torture lol
Could be a lot of reasons for that. Some times it’s to pack in more tunes - Metallica songs tend to repeat a lot of parts that they can easily trim fat from.
I love Jason on Back vocals. Cliff was the best best player they had (R.I.P.) and i love Rob, but no one is as good as Jason when it comes to doing the backup vocals
Depends on what you’re playing. When I’m covering the rhythm guitar of Metallica songs, downpicking and all, it’s actually very doable. Also notice how he’s mostly hunched over his guitar. This shortens the distance considerably. Now, if you’re doing “lead guitar stuff” like tapping and sweeping it’s physically impossible to have the guitar that low.
omg I was there in 93 they were awesome, megadeth played before them, they struggled as their sound wasnt all their, couldn't hear mustaines vocals very clear. Pretty sure he wore a mustard yellow jumper on the day. nice nice
To the uploader: Thanks for all the videos you've uploaded, much appreciated man. But can you get rid of that red frame inside the video? Well youve got the title of the song right in the description... Now to change the spelling of the song in the video title "DisPosable" :) thanks for uploading nonetheless \m/
The James of today is still a badass don’t get me wrong, but even he would have to bow in front of late 80’s/early 90’s James. That dude was untouchable on stage.
I think what really changed James was 1) getting married & 2) quitting alcohol. He still seems to be cool as hell, just on a restrained-mature dad level. *sigh*
Especially when your family matters more to you than anything else. James said he quit drinking out of fear because his wife threw him out and said if he didn't get his shit together..... yea that right there.
We ripped apart Lake Compounce in CT in 1990-1991 to this tune! Chain link fence separating field from seats- GONE! Mosh pits with 55 gal Rubbermaid garbage cans being hurled the whole time!!!
Damn, you can literally feel James's voice struggling to hang on during the chorus. Granted he managed to get through that and did the breakdown lyrics pretty well, but it's hardly a surprised they downtuned in the years after
@Milanicachannel: That's false 720p, you cheat everytime + with your "Suscribe to my channel for exclusive videos" everywhere. Apparently it works, if we look at the number of people who suscribed, but that's a little a guile?
James 5 OK. I thought this but I was not sure the guy cheated to have more views, now I am. I agree, only a bitch would do this. It is so frustrating when you see HD and then you notice it is not.
Anybody else notice James was frustrated as hell? Lol I get it, pain meds from the pyro accident and booze would make any guitarist screw up the verse riff multiple times lol
u are totally right, and yes jason is not much but you fuckin forget his energy on the stage and his powerfull back vocals. For me he is the best bassist-backvocalist out there.
@DamageFuckerNO1 And i have to admit it is a great thrash riff and gues what its just an open string hit at the right rythm :) heh and this is what i miss these days easy but kick ass riffs!!!! heh \m/ rust in peace...

Billy Clorox Maze Wait Theres More but true
James voice is already shot here. Listen to this and then Seattle or San Diego 89/90.
Lars looks so respectable with long hair and a beard.
austin thompson lmao!
No he looks homeless
he doesn't look like uncle joe.
Huh. He looks like a bum haha. S&M he looked respectful, clean shaven with short hair
In his early vlogs ( idk who thought it was ok to give him a camera) im gonna have to say for a hobbit hes a hot hobbit

Not because of tired, they just felt like sharpening the song. They play the full version sometimes today.

As well as live performance. Jason was better on stage than Cliff and Rob. And no one can play Creeping Death bass break as Jason.
Everyone in Metallica is shit at vocals except James and Dave Mustaine.

this song is a fucking anthem indeed.
Most underrated song
James untouchable on disposable heroes..so many tempo changes..crazy talented..
I love James attitude it makes him so much more bad ass i should have never given up on my band or playing guitar
Jason is sick man! The best bassist they had imho.
metallica at their best i say it was a long hot day and the energy they gave was amazing heart and soul!
Gets me pumpped everytime I hear it!
I always wonder how james is able to play with the guitar hangin at his knees O_O
Krist Novoselic of Nirvana used to do the same thing, its crazy

It's great to seem them so happy.
Amazing song, recorded at the peak of their abilities. This was such a rocking tour.
Metallica from the beginning to about 1996. The best heavy metal band ever. First 4-5 albums, not a weak song and live they were amazing.
this is metallica! nothin' else more!

This is the best live version of this song PERIOD.
the time when hetfield did the power stance and has long hair :D

Being a huge fan, I think they lost it when Jason left the band, Kirk started his blues faze and James went to rehab.
And Lars mutated into toy drum set player.

You can totally tell James blew his voice out on the black album just from this. He doesn’t have growl at all.
U can tell that it gives him trouble in some parts of that song vocally here and there. That's a hard-core song for sure.
