Late 90s and 2000s is probably the most creative period in music history
Bingo
Thanks for this but I knew this in 1998 though
Realizing that the 60s and early 70s had no precedent for what paths of artistic expression and identities were forged.
The reblossumimg in the nineties was, nonetheless, amazing.
A lot of people say Fred got lucky, but that dude made his own luck. Doesn't deserve all the hate he gets.
He's also very underrated. Break Stuff is the perfect example. Everyone says how Wes made that song what it is-- which is correct, he did. But so did Fred. Without Fred's lyrics, that song would be one of those songs that has a couple hundred thousand views, with all the comments saying how it's underrated and deserves more views because the riff is so awesome. You put any other lead singer in to write the lyrics and that song is nothing more than few hundred thousand views. Fred's unique style of lyrics matched the awesome riff Wes played.
I enjoyed their first album as they entered the scene with this harder sound but it was evident by the second album they suffered the same issues as many of the 80s bands did which is they catered to the lowest common dominator. Shit like Nookie and just the general vibe of the band left them a ticking time bomb for being dated like tribal tattoos as they keep getting more ridiculous. Fred sound like a much cooler guy in interviews than his persona was..
Hate ??!!! why your making these rumors ?? he's a fantastic person.
notices always cheers his band friends on all interviews, he's the one who make the Limp Bizkit come together.
He is a true rock star. but fuck this new generation music it all sucks, they replaced the talented energetic music with shitty full of nudity lazy smoking mumble rap.
@@Richmondthefish bullshit. Significant other has a sound that no other band had at the time...songs like re-arranged, dont go off wandering, nobody likes you, no sex are genius, let alone the top hits break stuff and nookie. Chocolate starfish upgraded even further, what are you on about...hot dog and boiler were revolutionary, my generation rollin and take a look around were bigger than the world. they didnt sell out, because they created their own genre, along korn, deftones, incubus and linkin park.
@@p1roncho Definitely they created their own "Brand" not some fake ass s*it
What’s with the hate with Fred? He’s a legend.
What's not about music but the man
But I don't care
He was hated before he was loved and then loved and hated lol
I love him .
🥰
Legendary douchebag
the 90's man, I miss being a kid!
If there was a button in front of me that would take me back to being a kid in the 90's I'd hit it immediately without a second thought.
Those were the days. Back when we didn't worry about jobs or adulting. Back when music was amazing! And back when MTV played Music videos
Same
The 90s man???!!! haha wtf!
@@themadrapper101 oh man absolutely. no thought whatsoever
back when MTV was MTV, not the fucking KPOP CHANNEL
What Korn and Limp Bizkit absolutely understood is having simple deep grooves that people could bounce to.
Haha its why i keep finding myself coming back to this video every few months, that 1999 riff wes does on guitar is flat nasty
Simple and deep? Oxymoron… no? If not how do?
@David Davidson When I was 12 I thought music like Korn and Limp Bizkit was “deep” but then I actually grew up.
@@triggerwarning2982 by deep i'm talking about the bass and guitar. Tool does this too.
Their both totally irrelevant today, it's only all about DEFTONES.
Wes Borland, so underrated, dude is absolutely badass on the guitar
Total beast. His energy on stage is unparalleled
I feel like he is Buckethead...
LB as a whole were tight. It wasn't just Wes. Their percussion and base is probably best
@@kennethcolby6960😂.... Wait a minute....
I drifted off back to being 21 again for a bit. God that felt good. Now it’s back to craptastic 2021. UA-cam is the closest thing to a time machine we’ll ever get.
Lol
True !!! Esp the craptastic 20s 🤣🤣🤣😎💖
I don’t know man, I get what you’re saying but I saw Limp Bizkit about a month ago, it was such a great time. They’re still killing it
They’re still performing
U cant get more late 90's vibe than this!
Damn.. What a time to be alive. I was 13 living the dream in 98. Everyone enjoying the moment, not distracted by their phones, tik toks, instagram. I wish the world would just go back to flip phones, bring back being in the moment
Man I'm feeling the exact same way these days. I was 13, I remember watching this and having my 20 song MP3 player entirely consisting of limp bizkit and Korn. Life now is so fucking complex, difficult, and nearly impossible to navigate. This video is a time capsule to pre-internet pre 911 culture at its peak where life was so much fucking simpler and frankly easier. Not a single phone in the crowd. People just simply enjoying their lives and living in the moment. Doesnt exist anymore and it is really sad
im also was 13
“Bring back being in the moment,” he says while reminiscing about life 23 years ago.
Flip phones caused phone devolution
@@inDefEE the 90’s was an amazing time!!
shit this was when life mattered.......
it never did
I miss being a 13-17 year old kid, late 90s to about 02-03. carefree and wide eyed, hopeful. Blasting my music and just hanging out, having fun! Those were the days..
Yeah
Today this show would be considered being “too white “
was just an illusion, it never did
@@codycooper5768 1998 to 2003 were the best years.
35 now and I can say I lived in the good times.... These kids have no clue how bad their music and culture is nowadays!!!
34 and agreed :D
36 here- yup
Straight up
35 here! I agree, I seriously have a deftones sticker on my SUV. I don't care how old I am or how many kids I have. These kids have no idea what real music is
17 and couldn’t agree more bizkit and Korn for life
41 here. We had the best of it all!
Damn that was a lucky crowd, to finish off the end of the '90s with limp Bizkit in their prime. Not to mention Aaliyah and kid Rock were there. That was MTV at its peak. Historic show.
When MTV was MTV
And I've got to say that Jennifer Love Hewitt looked absolutely amazing
She was at the height of her powers from 1997 to 2001
How can you say people who don't understand today's music are just old when they clearly rocked and partied harder in the 90's
Exactly, todays music is merely just fucked off 💯🤷🏻😆
please let history repeat itself and let us go back to a time where music made us feel this good.
Maybe 2090s? Guess we’ll never know.
I was 10 years old here. All I did was hangout in my basement with friends blasting limp Bizkit and skateboarding the day away. Yes I was young, but I'm so glad I got to enjoy the 90's to some degree.
Same!!!!
Same bro
Same here, i miss these days
The. Best. Era. In. Human. History.
1998 has got to be my favorite year of all time. When the time machine is invented I am sure it will be a popular destination !
Literally the only things I remember from 1998..
*Playstation
*South Park
*Limp Bizkit
*JNCO jeans
*Trick Yo YO's
*Laser Pointers
99 and 98 were one of my favourite years of my all life.I was starting been teenager. What a good memories with this fucking bands
I was only 7 at the time... I’d take a time machine back
I miss the late 90’s so much. and i was young af in1998 i was only 13 But was really into nu metal and still am so these were the times. 1997-2001 was the best
you tell the truth. agree with each word of you
Millennial childhood was the last of the disconnected kids. We had an awesome childhood.
Exactly man we were legitimately the last authentic generation
When rock music was at the top of the charts
Back when Limp Bizkit ruled the world. 🔥
TAKE ME BACK TO A BETTER AGE
I was 18 here, such a better time
Best decade ever.
Oh man goodness I miss being a kid . Can we just turn back time again when the 90’s was the best fucking year.
Nick Bernath what do you mean ?
$3 bill was good but when significant other came out it was a game changer . I was at Woodstock 99 and only 17 yrs old . Craziest weekend of my life . LB set was epic
Back when MTV was still MTV. Watching these clips was truly a trip back in time. I miss these days when MTV would have their NYE specials air live from their Times Square studios, and have various bands do covers of other bands songs. My favorite was No Doubt's cover of REM's It's the End of the World as we Know it, (and I feel fine) during MTV's 1999-2000 NYE special. Fun fact, then MTV VJ Carson Daly was dating fellow co-host Jennifer Love Hewitt at that time.
The world really did end in 2000..... 15 years later almost and shit sucks
@@foto52826 years later, it's even worse. Thought shit sucked in 2015? Should see this mess we have in 2021, I don't even want to think about what it will be like in 2027... Just let me go back to 1999.
UA-cam is the closest thing to being a Time Machine.
No matter what you say, limp bizkit changed the game, fred vocals were on point for sour, great video!
They deff took us out of that Shitty grunge era, they brought back a motley cure party vibe
the 90s ruled
Man this brings back alot of memories. This was always the coolest New Years Eve show every year. MTV, what happened to you? :(
I was 17 so many good times ahead.
Now It just sucks with this world we live in,In 2020.
Once upon a time music, sport and life Rocked🙂
I was 18 it was so good.
Now its all politicised bullshit and soul less trash
I was 17 and yes gentleman it was the best. I still have the original three dollar bill yall cd I bought for $16.99 from Sam goody. Mowed two yards to get that $. Idk what happened to kids these days. ✌ homies. LB 4 LIFE
I was 17 too, life was great and easy...
McNally
15 i was, and damn i remember figuring out how to play that 1999 riff on guitar like it was yesterday haha
Turned 21 in 1999, just in time for the party of the century!
I was in Times Square for the millenium and it was bananas!!! I too was born in 1978 so I feel your nostalgia!
Times were much simpler back then. Or did we just grow up and become responsible ehh
@@PhatLayCes7825 It was just as complicated then, we were just younger. If you think about it, we have much more access to good music today than we did in 1999 when all we had was FM radio and cable TV and MAYBE....LimeWire for the lucky few.
@@malcorub It's not the same though man .we may have access to more music but the music now sucks . There is no individuality anymore the culture is completely ruined I miss pre smartphone and 911 culture . It was legit bliss living in the moment
Fred just knows how to entertain a crowd.
Just a few years before 9/11 - such a fun period. Looking back there was life before 9/11 and life after - in a lot of ways we never recovered.
Exactly 😔 it was so care free we were all looking forward to a positive future
Carson Daly was floating on cloud 9 at this point in his life
Such a great time to grow up in....I wish the world/people would have stayed this way.
Admit it or not, this was rocks last stand in the mainstream. Thank God I don't rely on the mainstream.
Actually, no.
Not sure what's wrong with the world today. Look at these people all energetic partying, like really having fun.
Look at people today, all like stoned and barely moving in the new shirty mumble rap "parties".
I don'tknow too :|
Cell phone/technology addiction
@PATRICK MAHOMES MVP 2020-2030 or people are lamer then ever
Fluoride, chemtrails, etc.
@@jeffgo5742 if people start seeing someone headbanging like this they would think it's too energetic
Holy shit. We got old.
was a 23 year old cop working right outside mtv . two girls from tampa tara and michelle front row up against barricade i was standing at all night invited me to their hotel after i got off only request i show up in my uniform they gave me the night/ early morning of my life where ever you girls are thank you lol
😄👍🏾
wish they recorded the 1999 cover - that shit is so bangin
It's on Significant other or thats whole new song? it's called "9 teen 90 nine"
Missed opportunity by them, but it definitely makes this performance one of a kind. That riff wes plays at the beginning is slick
I think they weren't able to officially record a cover in studio due to Prince not liking their version or something to that effect. Therefore we got 9teen90nine instead
I will never forget around 2003 or so we had toured with some bands and we made a stop in Jacksonville and Sam Rivers was backstage with one of the bands hanging out with us. I flat out asked him what a band similar to Limp Bizkit could bring home a tour and he looked at me and said “about $800,000 a tour per member”. I took it he was insinuating that’s about what he was bringing in per tour with Limp Bizkit. This band was on top of the world at their height and was significant in the turning of music.
The 90's was fantastic. This day and age sucks so hard....
Limp Bizkit was cool, and they enjoyed what they where doing. That’s all you can ask for, really.
I loved this time period
The 2nd song they did was off the chains... unbelievable performance by a band that was simply undeniable and at their best during this his time period. Once the original LB formula started to change, that’s when things shifted - for better or worse. Fred Durst may get a bad rap from a lot of musicians and media critics, but the fact is there was a time where he was idolized by a lot of people, mainly for being unafraid to tell the world who he was and what he stood for. Fred is and always will be an original character in the music scene He was the very definition of someone who didn’t give a fuck... I admire people with similar traits.
Charlie Sheen must be your idol then.Off the chain, man.
@@shinybeast8946 what?
Sickest timing for a cover song and the best ever haha, everyone expecting faith and they just roll out 1999 at midnight heavy as shit haha ill never forget this set. Legendary
Totally totally agree. He never hid what a douchebag he was. But it's a hard fact that he knew what he wanted and he built a bridge. No pun intended
It's all jealousy! Period! People are no good haters!
I was 7 and loved limp bizkit and this era ! 😩 wish I could go back in a time capsule and at my current age to really enjoy it
Nothing can beat partying at 90s ...nothing
The good times....
I miss those times when everything was just listening good music, watch MTV and talk about all those bands at school.
Holy shit time has flown by...
got chills all over my body watching this.
dont care what people say about fred, hes one hell of a performer and singer and the whole band is just amazing.
Watching this on new years into 2021
How I wish to God they would have made a studio version of Prince's 1999...
Lol it's sooo bad, are you serious?
@@steved6149 Then why are you here? 💀💀
Prince would of probably squashed it.
@@steved6149
It is not that bad at all. You are probably one of those people who jump on the Limp Bizkit hate-wagon because it is an edgy trend to be a part of.
@@steved6149 you gotta be kidding? Hahaha i tried for years to find this shit. I mean unless you like the original? Haba
Remember watching this live!! When MTV played all types of music! And had metal on their New Years special!!! God I miss these days!
Wes in bunny rabbit costume, uhahahahaha, I love that mad fuck. ))))
jeFF Fury rocking out !
💔💔💔
I was 11 years old when this happened. Watching it on my box TV. Messing with my tamagotchis and learning how to play the drums. Parents were cool enough to let me do all of this. Miss those days.
1999 is when Limp Bizkit became the biggest, and coolest band in the world. Three Dollar Bill was a big album, but the release of Significant Other sent them into the damn stratosphere. And Carson Daly was a fucking Corn Muffin.
Ya. 99 was all about Bizkit and Eminem
@@arr0gant1 yea those two basically went hand and hand for 99-00
Yea Carson Daly the more I look back he really was lol
Thanks for uploading this. l wish I could say I watched this live but I didn't discover Limp Bizkit until sometime in 2000. I feel like I just went in a time machine and partied with everyone there when we were young. Limp Bizkit killed it. Had that place rockin. It's easy to see why they had the success they had and how they crossed over the way they did.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing it!
that Prince cover was unexpected but damn did it kick ass
Yes sir. It did.
I miss when MTV would have the NYE party with a live band that would play a cover. I seen Good Charlotte play Black Eyed Peas, Manson play Cheap Trick, Kid Rock play Run DMC. I miss that!
Yes! Finally a video of the 1999 cover. Thanks for this!
Hate how they just stuffed John and his drums behind those speakers somewhere in the dark
Thank you for uploading this! AMAZING!!
I Love How Blessed Fred Is On How He Can Just Make Any Crowd Bounce. His Energy Is Legendary ❤❤❤🙏 Need More Bands With This Kind of Control
No Smart Phones, no social media, just good ol fashion partying.
I remember being at a few house parties here and there back in the early '10s where smartphones weren't whipped out so suddenly..shit really became what it now is since Trump got elected, we all went through that term (which turned everyone into a walking, voluntary surveillance camera, pre-Tik Tok'ish apps were coming up, and then TikTok comes and oh yeah, people increasingly being all dependent on Google's Alexa, obviously Instagram, and then entering quarantene up to where we're at now.
It's been quite a shit show
Thank you for this dose of 90s nostalgia
Why the world not still like this? Metal was PARTY for all the people. Still being PARTY for much of us. But now the fashion music is shit without soul. I miss the days when we watched Limp bizkit in the TV and not the shit of today. Im still hearing Limp Bizkit and is better than the new fashion music. Limp bizkit is a band with soul and energy forever.
God i want to go back to 1998!
10:15 They'll never forget that moment...
I was 18 years old here. This video brought me back.
Limp Bizkit, The Best Band Ever !!!
Yes right!!!
"limp bizkit is better than everyone"
Wore that shirt like every day. Haha
Absolutely right!!!
Oooouuu yeeear
Korn is better.
Oh the lovely 90's, we all miss those times
Imagine that. Half a million people. Standing together.
I seriously miss those days.
Yea remember the Spring Break Parties MTV threw... Speaking of No Doubt I saw them on Spring Break as well as Dave Matthews Band and even going all the way back to the early 80's with Squeeze baby love it!!!! Bring back the BALL pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
Yo thank you so much for uploading this to youtube. I totally forgot about this concert back then. Back then when times were great. I can't believe L.B. played on top of the twin towers before they fell.
I miss these times...
I remember seeing this. Such an amazing cover, the riff Wes killed it!!
Most underrated limp performance EVER!! I'LL NEVER FORGOT THIS PERFORMANCE!!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i remeber watchinf this on tv i was 11/5 years old . still rocking hard today keep it up ya,ll
"no better place to be???" On New Years Eve 1998 I was at Black Sabbath, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth and Soulfly. Phoenix, AZ New Years Evil. Blew this shitshow away. The best lineup of bands I've ever seen in 26 years of going to concerts
Damn this is bringing me back!
Thank you for this, it was great to hear their version of 1999. Fred's energy and the band itself were truly a sight to be hold. It's crazy how big this band was at the time while also being so (needlessly) hated.
Back when I was 18- damn, I didn't know those were the good old days! Wes is the man
JLH is just all about CD :) Shes adorable as always.
I have a huge addiction to Limp Bizkit, they really seems great to me since i dig Chocolate Starfish in 2011..
