- Hey there!! This is the second of two videos that we take you on a tour of Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys!!
The park has 80 camp sites, 6 cabins and 25 marina slips. Bahia Honda also has two of the best beaches in all of the Florida Keys. Sandspur Beach which is on the Atlantic side and Calusa Beach on the Bay / Gulf side.
We also head out on a spearfishing trip, and we catch various species of fish very close to shore.

Great video guys I've lived and boated on the west coast of Florida since 1956 and in all those years never made it to the keys when the kids were little it was 8 hours to the keys and 8 hours to the mountains and at that time the keys were far more adult centered.
So thanks for a great video we may trailer the boat down.

All the Keys are amazing and you can explore them all. My favorite of course was Key Largo as I permanently lived there for 9 years and owned the place for 23 years. Still have friends there of a lifetime and use to go to Key West every so often just to spend the day.
If you can take a good two to three off and make it to the Dry Tortugas and camp out at Fort Jefferson, you will not regret it. I did that trip from Islamorada to the Tortugas on a Grand Banks 50’ and spent three days there, just moored. You can also go either way your tent and camp in the grounds surrounding the Fort. It’s a beautiful sight with a lot of history. You can stop on your way at Galleon Marina in Key West and enjoy the day in and day out parties going on. Another very nice place is Little Palm island, but a bit expensive to do overnight docking, but beautiful place. That’s all for now. Enjoy the nice navigation you’re able to do on that great boat you’ve brought back to life.
We’re going to key largo in a week for a few days for my birthday. Can’t wait.
Tortugas is on our short list of places to go visit. That’s a fairly big trip for us since it’s far and there’s NOTHING out there lol. We’ll want to do it with other people though. 🌊🤙🛥️
This is a great tour of everything at Bahia Honda! I used to live about 15 minutes from there, when we wanted to go to the beach, that was the only one to go to.
Mostly we just went out to the sandbars to party on the weekends :)
I like barracuda also, but you should limit your consumption to barracuda caught out in the open ocean. Ciguatera poisoning is no joke! Because Barracuda eat other fish, they concentrate levels of the toxin which comes from algae that grows on the reefs. Especially as we experience more and more reef bleaching, it's getting more and more common.
We didn’t think we’d enjoy it that much. We can’t wait to go back! Imo the best beach in the keys!
Barracuda is delicious! Flakey white meat. I don’t eat them often and I definitely don’t eat them in the Bahamas. But I’ve seen more people sick off yellow jack than cuda. There’s precautions you can take like making sure the fish fights strong or even those cigua tests work pretty well! 🤙

Yup, that’s a great idea. Go accompanied by another bigger boat but it will be a lot
Of fun for you guys. You will have to refuel, a couple of times, but do it in stages. Key West is wild, but you don’t have to join in, just do your thing and enjoy the trip.
In Key Largo , on the inter coastal bearing south , marker 54, steer 90 degrees to the west and you’ll see our old place, Buttonwood Bay, really nice place. There is a private beach there, but you could anchor in front and take a nice swim. It’s about a nautical from a really nice hotel before getting to market 54. Also a nice place to take a break and swim and people watch. During the weekend it gets very busy. Enjoy your nautical adventures.!

One thing manatees love is lettuce and cabbage. When you feed them, they will stay until its all gone. Lol.
We are in Marathon now and planning to head back home in a couple days but I’m tempted to head here to Bahia Honda. Or do we save it for the next trip? 🤔
Save it for another trip so you’re not rushing! We’d like to go again but for a whole week. 🤙
That’s a pretty big cuda, most people will not eat them when they are that big.
That's because the can carry cigutera.
That’s about as big as I’d eat them. Never had an issue. Bahamas is a different story. 🤙
