    I've tried everything with gel coat and I will always use duratec in mine. It just behaves so much better. I've had all kinds of problems when I try to thin with styrene and adding the wax. Doesn't want to cure in rainy humid weather.

      I totally agree. I’ve shot gelcoat without thinning and it’s not terrible but it does orange peel like crazy. Duratec really does lay down close to paint like and makes for much easier wet sand and polish! 🤙🛥️🌊

    What do you have against walking up to the bow? For those of us in New England who keep their boats on a mooring, safe and convenient access to the bow is an absolute necessity for picking up a mooring pendant. Not everyone lives only in the stern cockpit.

    I have 2 switches. One for house and one for cranking. I leave both switches on both while running. If I'm anchored I will turn the cranking battery off and turn the house battery to 1. Now my cranking battery is fully charged when I want to start the boat. The house battery will energize anchor nav light and any other accessories. To start engine I put both switches back to both. Is this the correct technique?

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 4 дні тому

      That’s one way of doing it yes! It seems you have your starter battery ONLY to start your motor and does not power anything else am I right?

    • @craigdoyle2155
      @craigdoyle2155 4 дні тому

      @perfectfitboating you are correct. I have starter cranking battery and switch in the bilge. Wired to position 1. House battery is deep cycle wired to battery switch in the cabin. It is also wired to position 1. When I first board the boat I with put both switches to the both position. I assume they are both being charged when the engine is running. I bought the boat a few years ago and this was the existing wiring. It had to cranking batteries. I replaced both. One cranking and one deep cycle for house accessories. Never had an issue starting with this procedure. I have always wondered if this is the correct setup

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 4 дні тому

      It’s a little difficult to see it in my head but I think the way you have it wired works. You can always test it while running to see if it’s charging. I would have the bilge pump wired to the house but that’s just me. Good on you for changing the other start to a deep cycle. Do some testing with a clamp meter and if you’re getting charge, leave it as is since it works for you. 🌊🤙🛥️

    lol, “interesting” was nice for the quarken. Such an odd design, somehow they managed to make it smaller and less usable than the previous, smaller boats. The Jeanaeu was also pretty disappointing. The Parker’s are more of a fishing specific boat, so not really a good comparison with this category. Funny it’s just as expensive though, with fewer amenities.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 4 дні тому

      Yeahhhh interesting is fitting. Hasn’t quite hit the right points for this market yet. As I understand it, it’s a boat built for a whole different style of Nordic boating. We actually got a ride on this boat and it performed incredibly. If they dial it in for the US market it can do well. Jeanaeu was alright just a little cheap in some areas and Parker is exactly what you said. Paying a whole lot for not much of anything. 🌊🛥️🤙

    There's a lot of great info here. If you replace the switch you purchased with a Blue Sea 5511e "Dual Circuit Plus Switch" you can control switching of the start and house battery at the same time. With the starting circuit wired to the start battery, and all loads wired to the house there is no need to change the switch position on the water. The switch also includes a combine position if the start battery is dead. If you add an ACR (as mentioned at the end of the video) you can charge both the start and house battery while underway.

      Of course! You can toggle the switch while in use you just don’t want to switch it to off. You could also switch it to combined while running to charge both batteries but charging the house battery would take pretty long that way.

No flipping switches when you are out boating and put a kill switch on joint minus at the bus bar.

    Great info, just a minor correction. 1/0 is smaller in cross section/diameter than 2/0. Make sure to change that out for your cranking circuit.

      Hey bud! Thanks for the comment we appreciate that! I was comparing the 1/0 being bigger in diameter than the 2awg but I might have written it wrong in the screen. Let me try and fix that. Thanks for that

      Gotcha at min 4:00 I understood two aught which means 2/0. Ok but you meant 2 awg (or #2 cable) not 2/0. Awg = American wire gauge. Aught = 0. Watch all your videos. Keep up the great content!

    I’ve used the marine Tex on my tank with some pitting and it worked great. I also used it on a pump housing under 30lbs pressure and it hasn’t leaked yet. Next year I’m going to fabricate a new aluminum tank for mine . Great video

    You guys should learn a little more about Boats before teaching others about features, and walk throughs, good try though, I give you an A for effort

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 5 днів тому

      We’re not teaching anything. We’re going through boats and reviewing them as normal people that like boats. We don’t assert ourselves as experts on what you should or shouldn’t buy. It’s based on our experience as normal boaters. Hence why the videos do so well (most boaters are just like us). Thanks for commenting.

    Bro - Sincerely, thought your video was Excellent! You could tell you had done your homework. You were redundant where you needed to be redundant. All the places in the video where I normally would have rewound it to make sure I understood correctly... there you are; repeating what you just said but adding other key thoughts to draw a clearer picture! It is apparent you care about what you are doing-using quality parts, taking precautions where necessary. I don't normally comment on videos, but I am trying to be better at telling people when they have done a good job... and in my opinion, I thought you put together a great f-ing video. It was exactly what I was looking for & I really enjoyed it. I got a lot out of it and I wanted you to know! Thank you bro! Tama o le u'a me'a a'asa! Sekiaaaaaa le mea!

    Thanks so much for getting back to me so fast. I have a Grady also with the ping pong ball scuppers. You said you used plastic for through the transom . What make are they? Also I just dis one of my deck plates today . It came out great. Thanks for the great video on that.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 6 днів тому

      No problem! Glad I could help. If I remember right they were perko. We have the two little scuppers on each side I’m not sure if the ping pong ball will work since both holes are so close together. I might just go with the flap that covers the scupper. Does it really help keep water from coming in on your boat? That’s so great to hear you did your deck plate! Not too difficult of a job I’d say! Good on you for tackling that job! 🤙🛥️🌊

    Love your channel. Can you tell me what you have for through hull scuppers. It doesn’t look like you have the brass ones in the video. Thanks

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 6 днів тому

      Gary, thank you so much for watching! When we did the transom on this boat, we used the plastic thru hulls. We didn’t want to buy the tool that’s used to bevel the edge and we were on a time crunch to get the motor mounted. They worked just fine and have held up without any issues. The other Grady transom we did had plastic scuppers installed as well. I think what I’m going to do in addition to these thruhulls is the ping pong scupper or the flap. Both bolt to the outside of the scupper and allow water to drain but don’t allow water to get in. 🌊🤙🛥️

    Great video. We looked at Cutwater and Jeanneau and both are great boats. We ended up with a Jeanneau 1095 and I have a few notes on your walk through. First, you can open the floor of the cockpit easily. It is best to remove the table, but it lifts up. The second latch is inside the seat/storage box behind the sliding door. Second is that you should have opened the “Dometic” in the 3rd stateroom. It is in fact a second fridge that is the same as the one in the Galley. It’s great to have an extra fridge for longer trips!

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating 6 днів тому

      Thanks for that Keith! We thought the 1095 was a pretty bad ass boat! I read that dometic logo and figured it might be an ac or fridge but it wouldn’t open so I didn’t want to break it. Two fridges is a plus for sure! 🤙🌊🛥️
