- Bahia Honda State Park and the Sandspur Loop is finally open! We do a site by site view in the Sandapur loop, and then a quick run through the rest of the park. We stayed at site #70. The Seagrass was abundant, but still had an awesome time. Feel free to ask any questions.

Me and my family went to calusa beach, but the wife complained a couple months later, that she didn’t like the bridge view and wanted a more beach oasis kind of vibe. The sand bars around here are absolutely perfect for little kids to play in!
So happy to hear Sandspur has reopened. This is my favorite area. Been loving it for 45 years. One of my favorite spots in all the world.

We have been trying to get into this park for a while now...i gave up. nice that the Sandspur loop is now open, i may try to book again now there's a better chance of a spot...maybe. Oh and you need to talk my wife into wearing her Jeep hats more often.
There is hope in cancellations! Keep an eye out! And Jeep hats all the way for windy days ... Or Jeep Hair! :)
Thank you sooooo much for this video! Our favorite place in the world! It's nice how they moved the campsites at the beginning of the Sandspur loop (before the beach walkway) over to the ocean side (they must have rerouted the road a bit). I hope you folks had a good time while you were there and didn't get too much sun or bug bites. I'm glad to see that beautiful tree at #68 is still there. Once they are finished remodeling the bathhouse, they will have 3 ADA compliant campsites with concrete pads. I wonder if sites 59-61 are first come first serve or maybe for construction workers since they are not available on the website. Thanks again!
So glad you enjoyed it! It was our first time there. Loved it. No bugs. Not too much sun :). I heard the racoons could be a problem and we did not see a single one! Maybe they are no are this area opened. Lol 🤣
Yeah, the racoons had us trained to never leave any food unattended, especially when the sun goes down... and the cooler stays in the car.
Going soon for the first time EVER to spot #70. So excited that we finally booked sites there. Do you know if there was a bath house walkable from your site?
Yep! They are working on rebuilding the bathroom, but have awesome and super nice temporary ones... With showers... And A C.!

Is there any public access to sandspur beach?
Thank you so much for the info, Atlas Jeeper. The reservation notes indicate a maximum trailer length of 23 feet due to the narrow or crooked access road to Sandspur campground. But your video shows double axle trailers that are obviously longer than 23 feet. Can you tell me about how narrow or crooked the access road to Sandspur might be from your memory of it?
I have a tiny camper so have no trouble backing in. But the Sandspur loop road is narrow. I can see how it would be difficult (if not impossible) to back into the sites. The sites are large, but would be difficult to manuver a large trailer. The sites are at 90 degrees to the road. I believe the trailers you see are temporary bathrooms. Not camping people.
Atlas Jeeper, thank you so much for this. Do the sites in Sandspur Loop have direct access to the beach from each campsite or does everyone have to go to the one central boardwalk for beach access? Also, did you have to take your own firepit or are fire rings provided at Sandspur camp sites? #55 and #56 (beachside) are not shown as sites that can be reserved online. Are they camp host sites? Lastly, if you are standing in the street facing the entryway to the one central boardwalk to the beach, what is that open sandy area immediately to the right of the boardwalk?

There is a central boardwalk, which is super close, but people do walk from each site to the beach. They do ask you not to do that though. They are trying to grow back the vegetation and there are sea turtle nests.
The two sites that you can not currently book are being used for the portable bathrooms. They are redoing the bathroom facility. I have a video of the temporary bathroom. I will get the link and post here too.
Each site does NOT have a fire ring. They will tell you you can used the raised grill for a fire. We asked if we could bring a raised firepit. They said yes, but it must be a Raised firepit (which is what we brought). No ground firepits allowed.

Very very little. And it went unnoticed after getting use to it.

Tip: share with audience why this opening is of such pivotal importance. Some history. PS learn how to pronounce it prior. Narration a must.
