    Have both for years. Used them everywhere traveling and road trips. The 24 carries 3-5 days of clothinf for road trips, 3 days winter clothing, 5 days summer clothing. The 72 carries 5 days winter clothing, and 7 days summer clothing. Plus socks, undies, and laundry bag. The admin pouch carries my check book, second wallet, pens and notepads, leatherman multi tool and swiss army knife, extra cash, spare truck key, nail clipper and nail file, etc. Also carry an LED flashlight in there.
    I found that the 511 30 magazine MP5 mag pouch carries a Streamlight flashlight just right. I molle strap several rifle ajd pistol mag pouches in case i need a bug out bag. Add in 2 water bottle carrier on the outside side. The 24 carries my Benchmade Centego fixed blade while the 72 carry my Hogue fixed blade on the side. Each has a bladder hydration section that can hide a 1911 pistol pretty well.
    Not cheap, they are both around $200 but they are well made and seriously built. Zippers have not broken, fabric have withstood being tossed around without abraided through. Lots of space and only limited by how much you can pretend to be a pack mule.

    I used the 72 in my very last combat deployment in 2010 and it got beat to hell and it survived unlike my body. Didn't care for the issued ACU ruck, just didn't ride well on my shoulders. Never tried the 24, they are worth the price.

    Thank you for the side-by-side comparison: nobody else has done that, I have been thinking about both bags, but wanted to know the differences. I will go for the 24.

    I have both of the bags and agree with you on all the items. I used the 72 for a recent vacation and it was heavy to carry from site to site. It did hold everything so that is the plus. The hip belt helped. Was able to carry on for my flight.
    Good luck on your channel.

    Actually. I was reading comments about this bag on another channel and a scout recommended that you sit down, attach the hip support first and then the shoulder straps. He claims it makes all the difference.
    And in all honesty it's not a hiking backpack. It's a tactical backpack so I would agree that it's not the right pack for hiking.

    Thank you for sharing your point of view! Really this bag is the best bag of carry everyday! I have the black 24 version!

    Thanks for the video. I have been trying to decide what bag to get but can't decide. I love the front dump pouch of the 72 but overall might be to big. One day I will decide lol

    JUST the comparison I needed - thanks - I'll go for the 72!

    They need to add an integrated rain cover. Alot of other brands like the condor orion and the tasmanian tiger mission pack MK 2 have rain covers. It's just a handy tool to have on a back pack that way i don't have to pack a poncho.

    I want one but I’m not gonna drop 200 on this bag. Especially, when everything has gone up. 👀 need some gas.

    Im trying to decide on the 72 or the 24. I want to pack for a week of traveling. 3 pairs of jeans, three shirts, 3 socks, and 3 boxers. Also a toiletries bag, two bath towels and wash cloths and various other accouterments. I can do this all in a medium-sized roller bag. But i want something that will keep my hands free while on the move. I will be living out of this bag for up to 4 weeks at a time.

      Get the 72. Better larger and carry what you need then too small.

    Thanks for the review. If you are going to take this bag on a long hike, why not use the chest strap?

    Wish I saw this review before I purchased the rush 72 bag, that bag with all my things in it, is just way way too heavy for me to carry

    Hey buddy I just started watching your channel and subbed and I'm going through these old videos of yours. Would you mind sharing where you got that military water bladder in the vid, maybe a link? I'm about to get this 72 and could really use a good one and it sounds like you like that one that you have on here. Thanks in advance if you don't mind sharing :)

    Max height for the 72 is around 5”10 5”11 mabye 6 ft depending on you’re torso size. Otherwise the hip belt will be no use to you.

      Hello there! May I ask, does this mean that if I am 6'2-6'3, even the 72 bag will be too small for me? Is there something similar to the 5.11 Rush 72 in looks, versatility and quality? Maybe RUSH100 60L or some other brand? The 2 reasons I don't like the RUSH100 is that It doesn't have a CCW compartment and it looks a bit more of a hiking bag for me which I am not a big fan of to be honest. My fields are high and the mountain with lots of animals and animal farmers dogs that are wild as fuck and tend to harass my workers often. There is a lot of wildlife there as well too, wild boars, random wolves and deep in the forest even bears. I don't care about the weight or price, just need something robust. I'm a farmer and hunter, so I needed something to depend on always and at the same time not break up, because I sometimes pack a lot of things, especially when going for 3 day outdoor trip and have to bring my cooking kit with some extra clothes as well.

    Well I hope you hit that number. I bought the rush 100 not liking that all. Too much went with 72 that's good but still a tad too much. I'm not complaining. Oh I subscribed too see ya

    Hope you hit 1k but reason I subbed is because you're a Texan. Howdy brother, from Fort Worth. BTW I've had the 72 for years. Great bag but for only being 40L, it's wide. Feels like a giant turtle shell.

    I am comparing the 24 to the camelbak hawg, leaning twards the camelbak. Also gave you a sub, gl in the 1k mark.

    Where did you buy your hanging weight scale?. Good points on weight aswell. That's crazy heavy.. 3lbs isn't too bad as ultimately as long as you keep it to a quarter of your body weight once filled you should be good to go. I really appreciate your review it is very helpful. I think i will steer clear of the 5.11

    FANTASTIC review! What you using now? and was 72 too big? And would the 24 be fine for a 3 day bag? Biggest thing i dont like on the 24 is that it doesn't have those extra hip things that the 72 does.Seems to me they cut corners there. Also their pricing is absurd compared to other companies who offer MORE for less.

    • @MyCentsTX
      @MyCentsTX  2 роки тому

      I went in a totally different direction. I replaced the 24 with Atlas packs Athlete pack. And the 72 with an osprey Atmos pack. Both packs have great hip belts and feel great. The Atlans pack can have the hip belt taken off and it's great for every day or a cary on pack at the airport. It's expensive. It's like $500

    the 72 is a bit big for daily use in the city, on bike and college, isn't it?

    • @MyCentsTX
      @MyCentsTX  2 роки тому

      Yeah, it's too big. 24 would be about the size of a regular school bag

      Overhead yes, but it might be to big for under the chair

    Be glad to have the "older" model! The new "2.0" Models (Which are more like 0.5) are complete garbage. (10 pockets and 9 Features less than the "Real One". The CCW-Compartment is a "Rain-Collector" and theres also no need for the padding of the laptop-compartment if you have a padded case for the laptop. But its "robbing" space in the pack. Definitive a DOWNGRADE not an upgrade. But the Carrying system still nothing better then before.

    72 here. The word you're looking for is "bugout bag" and I'm going to disagree with you slightly here and go old school, as someone who has actually bugged out-- if your bug-out bag is too heavy while at the same time not being one of those WWII era rubberized canvas/steal frame monsters, your problem isn't your bag, its your strength. Get better-- bugging out is as much about your fitness as it is the contents of your bag.

    You didnt say what pack you were showing, at least not in the first few minutes, if you are talking about 2 different packs and showing 1, identify it! Came here to get an idea of the size of them, so I gotta look elsewhere
