I have the skar audio tws01 tweeters and the prv 6mb100-4 together in a VW with stock amp and the louder the volume the clearer and better the sound gets! It's been about a year and they're still performing well. In all the setup was 120$
It also depends on the application of your ride. I know I couldn't fit the orians in my car due to the magnet size. Unless you build a pod. But I like to keep my stuff flush and hidden. Stealth looking.

The DS18 does not get distortion when there’s bass and vocals at the same time. From my point of view, the Orion is clear, but it’s too clear. The highs drown out the bass. But the ds18 plays bass and vocals at the same level. This is just my perception but it’s all thanks to you. I appreciate everything your doing.
The height drown out the bass ? First of all many need to dampen their doors with sound treatment. The midrange from these speaker are stronger than stock speakers so many time the door panel vibrates which cause distortion and cancelation due the back wave the door panel creates and send back to the speaker cone also the panel resonate producing un natural sound.
You should also let people know where your crossover settings and tuning frequencies are setup for your demonstrations , keep up the great videos bro!!!!

All these speakers in this video are meant to be heard over subs that are hitting 145 dbs and up. That being said none of these have a flat response throughout their usable range. If you want a high spl door speaker that has audiophile sound quality on a budget check out savard. But as far as dissing this guys channel the people on here are absurd and if they don't like don't watch it. There are plenty of people posting videos on the high dollar equipment and tell you all the details that you are too lazy to look up for yourself . Unlike this guy they don't give you a side by side comparison on how they sound witch is the most important thing imo. This guy doesn't have the time or the equipment to do a frequency sweep with an oscilloscope. Give him a break dude he is doing better than a lot of other channels.

However, it is critical for testing on a baffle or box to isolate the front and rear sound waves. from 60hz up to roughly 300hz you can observe large changes in this range, which may sway many people in their choice, including myself. Keep up the great test sessions, we love em!
Thank you for taking so much time to compare these speakers. Can I make a suggestion? I think if you were to put these in a small box the sound is going to change. You rely need to separate the front and rear wave. You don’t need to screw them down or wire them in, just use your alligator clips and drop them in. Give it a try, you’ll see the difference.

I should think the Focal will cost more from what I recall but I too am very impressed by what Orion is putting its label on currently. WoW talk about bang for the buck clarity. I like moderately loud but pretty much care about quality over SPL and I think Orion is nailing my market and affordability. Way to go!
The orion sounded clearer than any others, including the $260.00 mid. But the Pyramid pro sounded better to my ear, I always lean towards more low and high, than mid sound (sort of V shaped if you look at it like an equalizer)
Well you can’t get much less expensive. Pyramid may not have to most attention to detail on build quality but if you get good ones they last and can sound much better than many others at their price point. Just be sure to look at other Pyramid 6.5 mids also if you are actually using a 6.5 as a mid. For mid bass, the one he has here is a no brainer if you like a thicker tone with a little less control at high volume. You can improve them by applying a sound deadening component to the cheap metal frames and back of magnet. I use urethane glue.
@@frankstetka7206Having bought 4 different pairs of the w64, they are fantastic sounding. Midbass especially. But they don't last. Granted I'm usually running 80w each, but I do replace them when I get overexcited, and run them with say a 63hz crossover. Problem with them is the glue that holds the the cone to the spider, is garbage.

I've heard the PRV, but when I compared them with the DS18 Pro I was blown away. The DS18 Pro 8" with dust caps excites me very much with it's sound quality and stamping mid tumps. I noticed from tests the PRV distorts after a while of playing.
You should hook one up on left channel and one in right so you can switch back and forth and play both together maybe mixing board like DJ .. Good luck on your journey!!

Is that a bullet style tweeter I see on the Orion's. May be why it has a much brighter sound compaired to the others. To me the speaker which would sound the best out of those being installed with desperate tweeters being used would be the pro plus or the prv. Depending on the tone you prefer.
For speakers there is no free lunch, you want efficiency (and generally high-frequency extension) you trade bass response. The longer and heavier the coil the lower the Fs of the driver as well as higher the inductance which also kill high frequency response. Personally I don't push anything lower than 100Hz through a car door so I go as efficient as possible. I run triple DS18 FR6-NEOs in the front doors and they extend up to 10kHz+ with minimal breakup. Sound similar tonally to the Orions but a little louder and nicer build quality (cast aluminum basket + push terminals). Also a big fan of phase-plugs as they really help increase high-frequency response.
Which Midrange you recommend in these three catagories? 1- Intro Level 2-Mid Level 3-Boss Level? From watching your new video, I take it that you're boss level is the Orions?

Everything I have is Orion! I’ve had skar, ds18, kicker, ct, I’ve had plenty more but point is Orion literally underrates all there products and sells them cheap there a guy that shows there amps at 1500 pushing 3000 clearly no clipping at 14.4 amps .
Seemed in the video the prv had the nicest overall response. Not screaming highs, well balanced 200-2000hz. The Orion and others sounded like a tweeter
Prv is cool, but once I heard 18 sound I switched. 18 sound much brighter and midbass is tighter. Prv has some new mids so maybe there's something better out now.

What do you think of the Infinity Reference or Kappa series? I'm looking for 6x9s and 6.5" for my Jeep, will have about 75W RMS per channel into 4 channels (6x9 components front, 6.5" coaxial rear), but don't want a sub, so I need the best quality drivers for full range all around that will handle the power and give me some great lows. I'm considering all kinds of other firms, but Infinity come with 3ohm and below, so that will utilize my amp and get close to 100W per channel RMS on high volume if I need it, and I hear good things about those speakers.
Next time you compare 6.4 inch speakers you need to include the Rockville RM64PRO 6.5" I compared a lot of cheap 6.5 speakers and the pro model from Rockville won hands down. I had them in my truck and now they are now used in my computer speakers I built. They handle a crazy amount of power. I have them hooked to a 400 WPC amp RMS with a peak power of 700 wpc crossed over at around 100 HZ using a sub woofer and 1.5" Titanium tweeters . These little speakers even beat out some B&C 6NDL38 $108 each . Hard to believe but they did. You need to get a speaker selector box and make your life easier. Are you testing any Focal speakers? Back in the day I stopped in a car audio shop and heard them and they were great. My friend had a car security and window tint business. At the time he wasn’t doing much in car audio, but I asked him about Focal and he said he hadn’t heard of them. We both found out later they where great.

DS18 Pro gm6 is an 8 ohm speaker. Others are 4 ohm speaker. Most car audio amplifiers are 4 ohm (or less). How are 8 ohm speakers on 4 ohm amplifiers not going to damage either the speaker or the amp?
Rockville is owned by Cadence Audio, and while it's not in this video Cerwin Vega is now owned or merged with Diamond Audio. I would suspect many other brands are actually operating in the same manner.
As an Orion for life guy, the Orion was EXACTLY as expected! The Hertz was somewhat disappointing! The real surprise was the Pyramid for me! I would like to see where Morel and Focal would compete.

the prv 6mb200 are MID-BASS speakers that's why there are the MB's in the name.....so not a fair comparison if the other speakers were midrange speakers
All those speker have a different Hz response thats y they sound different non is better then the other look at the Hz response some will play cleaner then other some play lower then other thats y

I just bought the 2 of the pyramid speakers, thatll run 63hz-300hz for my rear hatchback door panels. Why? Qts is .74. Meaning it should do well open baffle. Rated at 100w and 94db efficient. Now! That's probably a lie, but if it does even 50w solidly, I'd be happy. Will be getting 80w rms on each one.
According to the crap sound quality of an old I phone the Orion sound very natural in part to having an extended high frequency and good balance but the DS-18 was a real surprise for a meaty (into mid bass region) midrange that also sounds natural and well balanced, to me the PRV has a bump in some mid decibels that when paired with other pro sound components should work out well but I do not prefer it to DS18. Also the Pyle speaker chosen is more a lower mid bass and Pyle makes one or more perhaps in this size that are a pro sound style with the cloth surround instead of rubber; less Xmas ( cone travel ) and better upper mids. I have a few somewhere and was impressed not only that they cost next to nothing but sounded usable. 😉
Mike boogy... cut a hole in the table to compare the more direct sound in the table as a good infinite baffle...with 2 bolts you will clip to the 2 bolts and have 2 wires on inside connected to the bolt so speakers are easy drop ins

These are midrange speakers, midbass is a different stage and set of speakers

Don’t like the pro mids !!!! They sound flat! Need a mid bass to replace it I have the w65 and they sounded bad! Not sure why. Any recommendations
Thanks for review it was awesome you weren't lying those orion cobalt 6.5 matched with the 1.5 cobalt tweeters perfect wired at 2ohms on my rockford 400.4 match made in heaven crossover at 125hz 12db slope sounds amazing paid 60 bucks
Is that a bullet style tweeter I see on the Orion's. May be why it has a much brighter sound compaired to the others.
To me the speaker which would sound the best out of those being installed with desperate tweeters being used would be the pro plus or the prv. Depending on the tone you prefer.

Prv for the money and Orion for crystal clear mid bass and you can really hear those vocals
For speakers there is no free lunch, you want efficiency (and generally high-frequency extension) you trade bass response. The longer and heavier the coil the lower the Fs of the driver as well as higher the inductance which also kill high frequency response. Personally I don't push anything lower than 100Hz through a car door so I go as efficient as possible. I run triple DS18 FR6-NEOs in the front doors and they extend up to 10kHz+ with minimal breakup. Sound similar tonally to the Orions but a little louder and nicer build quality (cast aluminum basket + push terminals). Also a big fan of phase-plugs as they really help increase high-frequency response.
Which Midrange you recommend in these three catagories? 1- Intro Level 2-Mid Level 3-Boss Level? From watching your new video, I take it that you're boss level is the Orions?

Orion for the win and PRV next I love Orion XTR an Orion HCCA my favorite speakers and subs still my new favorite sub is TT technology TT-12XMAX it's a beast an put anything I've seen in person to shame

Everything I have is Orion! I’ve had skar, ds18, kicker, ct, I’ve had plenty more but point is Orion literally underrates all there products and sells them cheap there a guy that shows there amps at 1500 pushing 3000 clearly no clipping at 14.4 amps .

I have those Rockvilles on a 800.4 Stestom and when I tell people what they are they never believe me and the Rockvilles can be run at 4ohms or 8ohms.
I think you should redo this test simulating a car. Speakers react differently in baffles

Seemed in the video the prv had the nicest overall response. Not screaming highs, well balanced 200-2000hz. The Orion and others sounded like a tweeter
Prv is cool, but once I heard 18 sound I switched. 18 sound much brighter and midbass is tighter. Prv has some new mids so maybe there's something better out now.

I installed meso 6.5 in a Mitsubishi Outlander sport 4 doors off a skar amp and very nice. Magnets are large so i did cutting but good value.
I recently got two 8 Lanzar opti drive fullrange units . Rated 600watts each & let me tell ya they scream !! Got 4 on a Taramps MD1800

What do you think of the Infinity Reference or Kappa series? I'm looking for 6x9s and 6.5" for my Jeep, will have about 75W RMS per channel into 4 channels (6x9 components front, 6.5" coaxial rear), but don't want a sub, so I need the best quality drivers for full range all around that will handle the power and give me some great lows.
I'm considering all kinds of other firms, but Infinity come with 3ohm and below, so that will utilize my amp and get close to 100W per channel RMS on high volume if I need it, and I hear good things about those speakers.

Next time you compare 6.4 inch speakers you need to include the Rockville RM64PRO 6.5"
I compared a lot of cheap 6.5 speakers and the pro model from Rockville won hands down.
I had them in my truck and now they are now used in my computer speakers I built.
They handle a crazy amount of power. I have them hooked to a 400 WPC amp RMS with a peak power of 700 wpc crossed over at around 100 HZ
using a sub woofer and 1.5" Titanium tweeters . These little speakers even beat out some B&C 6NDL38 $108 each . Hard to believe but they did.
You need to get a speaker selector box and make your life easier. They do have better but bang for the buck is what I am posting about.

Are you testing any Focal speakers? Back in the day I stopped in a car audio shop and heard them and they were great. My friend had a car security and window tint business. At the time he wasn’t doing much in car audio, but I asked him about Focal and he said he hadn’t heard of them. We both found out later they where great.
Focals don't go higher than 4khz before they start to sound a little off . More dedicated towards mid bass
The ds18 and Orion are my top picks and those Rockville for the price some one and low budget can’t go wrong

Are all these speakers ran off an amp? Do you have a recommendation for running a pair of 6.5 off a stock radio, that have decent mid lows?
DS18 Pro gm6 is an 8 ohm speaker. Others are 4 ohm speaker. Most car audio amplifiers are 4 ohm (or less).
How are 8 ohm speakers on 4 ohm amplifiers not going to damage either the speaker or the amp?
Rockville is owned by Cadence Audio, and while it's not in this video Cerwin Vega is now owned or merged with Diamond Audio. I would suspect many other brands are actually operating in the same manner.
As an Orion for life guy, the Orion was EXACTLY as expected! The Hertz was somewhat disappointing! The real surprise was the Pyramid for me! I would like to see where Morel and Focal would compete.

The hertz mid pretty loud for mid . Once paired with the hertz tweeter they make your ears bleed

260 Hertz and 50 prv sound exactly alike...but definitely a true fan of Orion
the prv 6mb200 are MID-BASS speakers that's why there are the MB's in the name.....so not a fair comparison if the other speakers were midrange speakers
All those speker have a different Hz response thats y they sound different non is better then the other look at the Hz response some will play cleaner then other some play lower then other thats y
Orion felt more clear and more sound quiality but prv has more midbass just wait till you do the 120 orion the thing gets so loud but mine make a funny smell if i put to much power on them

Depends on your budget. You don't NEED 400 watts/ch for Mids to sound good.

May I suggest Eminence Alpha-6c? Happy with mine.
I just bought the 2 of the pyramid speakers, thatll run 63hz-300hz for my rear hatchback door panels. Why? Qts is .74. Meaning it should do well open baffle. Rated at 100w and 94db efficient. Now! That's probably a lie, but if it does even 50w solidly, I'd be happy. Will be getting 80w rms on each one.
According to the crap sound quality of an old I phone the Orion sound very natural in part to having an extended high frequency and good balance but the DS-18 was a real surprise for a meaty (into mid bass region) midrange that also sounds natural and well balanced, to me the PRV has a bump in some mid decibels that when paired with other pro sound components should work out well but I do not prefer it to DS18.
Also the Pyle speaker chosen is more a lower mid bass and Pyle makes one or more perhaps in this size that are a pro sound style with the cloth surround instead of rubber; less Xmas ( cone travel ) and better upper mids. I have a few somewhere and was impressed not only that they cost next to nothing but sounded usable. 😉
Mike boogy... cut a hole in the table to compare the more direct sound in the table as a good infinite baffle...with 2 bolts you will clip to the 2 bolts and have 2 wires on inside connected to the bolt so speakers are easy drop ins
