As a Mid Bass Sundown sounded the best 100 hz to 350 hz . Got that Bass ! For a midrange speaker 500 hz to 2khz I thought the Orion and Rockford sounded best but that's just me here on the surround sound .
I liked the Herzt . For a two way love ds18 I liked the Punch too Sundown sounded muffeld. Thanks for the hard work. Orion still is my favorite out of them all. For $25 a each. Ds18 have the highs you need for a subwoofer
Hey Mike, greetings from Florida! I love music and I'm trying to upgrade my sound system on my ford f150 for a clean and quality sound system I've been doing a research for over a month now on speakers and stuff, I think I've watched every single video of yours about comparison and reviews and I'm still having a really hard time to decide what speakers to get for a complete round up in my truck, I do everything my self I've done all the mods on my truck my self with passion and I love it, but I really need your help Mike please what do you recommend for me, I'm trying to keep the price reasonable since it's really hard to make money and I don't want to be disappointed again with my choices, I've just ordered a recoil class D 4ch amp 2ohm-4ohm stable with 300rms at 2ohm x 4 and 210 rms at 4ohm x4 noise ratio 85db and frequency 15hz - 25khz and trying to find the best affordable speakers that would complete my set up. I'm going to do a sound deadinng on all doors as well, I recently bout a Polk Audio amp(wich I'm returning tomorrow due to overheating) to replace it with the recoil amp above👆 Currently the Polk Audio is running my jbl GTO939 6x9 Coaxial 100w rms 300w peak on the front and the jbl GTO629 6.5 2way Coaxial 60w rms 180w peak on the rear, also a different amp for my 2x12" mtx subs, Im using aftermarket android tesla style head unit. I added a line out converter lci7 then connect the 2 amps, but I feel a little incomplete, I bought the gbl gto tweeters you recommended in one video aslo bought the BZRK tweeters because they look nice as well, haven't installed them yet because the ohm doesn't add up, can you please recommend me something to complete a good sound, I'm thinking to go with 2 way component speakers and trying to decide for a good midrange speakers for rear since I have the tweeters, I'm even willing to add 2 more 5 inch speakers and modify the rear doors if necessary! You have a lot of experience what should I get for the new amp that I got! I would really appreciate you bro... Really need your opinion and suggestions 🙏
Yeah, you can clearly hear the difference free air also. EVERYBODY knows speakers sound different in an enclosure. If you throw them al in a lake they'll sound different also. And you will still hear the difference between them.
Mike you are a Champ for commandeering your time to give us a SAMPLE of so many speakers! No joke, some of the best non-copy right tunes to boot! thanks for your services my friend. Now for me at least, I have a better idea on which speakers I am going with for MY SQ build.
Those DS18’s are doing work. I would have never known about them if it wasn’t for you! Pretty sure nobody would have. When it comes to quality people think more money means better. No it doesn’t. There are so many company’s that are making the same speaker just cheaper. Good thing you’re not doing subwoofers. Skar and sundown are the same thing just ones cheaper. While sundown is taking y’all’s money Skar is making the same subwoofers just more affordable. Crazy man. Thanks for the information you’re giving us!
Two thoughts come to mind... 1) it's hard to compare one speaker from the next when the song keeps changing. Maybe you should have restarted the song for each driver 2) the one with the teeeter is a whole different class. Of course it's going to sound more full range, but not useful for my purposes Good vid though. I will consider these brands, although 10" might be better for me, as I'm running an 18" subwoofer.
I think it would be awesome if you took the top two out of each tier and than did a Final show down. To see if any of the cheaper speakers take down the more expensive ones.
Have 4 of the ds18 zt6.5 speakers with the tweeter built in on a ds18 frx1K (1k rms full range amp) and 4 ds18 tw220 super billet tweeters on a 4 channel amp 100 watts rms @ 4ohms per channel can't wait to finish to fiberglass all four doors so I can install them all going to sound epic o I forgot I have the ds18 XM3 crossover as well
@@LIFEINSPEED i haven't heard anything good about ds18 until i stumbled onto your channel i love what your doing but my guess is the same company makes orion also makes ds18 as they are exactly same speaker just names changed just knowing that makes me not want to put the money into them, but id like to know who manufactures them and if there is a main brand like one the put all of their best tech into because i would be interested in buying the main brand but not just a copy of the main so my question is do you know which is really the main and which is just the copy? I know ds 18 doesn't make anything but i don't know if orion does or do they just go to same factory ans have name put on it? I know fosgate at least still researches tests designs their products they just manufacture them anymore how about orion? Your videos have made me interested in them now.
Which is better overall if you want luxury bass, clarity, and sound inside the car only not outside the car Alpine R, GTO 629, Focal, or Infinity Kappa or another brand??
I havent heard the new D4S models but I do have Arnolds in the doors of my Sonata with the T25 neo tweeters jn the dash and it Screams on an Audiocontrol D6.1200 amp.
I agree with 98% your opinion on the speakers. However it was clearly noticeable that the Sundown had the Orion beat. Reproduce a much warmer sound IMO really full range whereas the Orion gravitated towards the high end frequencies
I have those ds18 coax in my bike. Was gonna swap em out for the ds18 Neo carbons. But not sure if double the price would be a noticeable dif or worth it.
I love the work you're doing but I wished for a better control measure to benchmark the speakers. Just simply placing speakers on a desk and doing side by side ear measuring would not be sufficient for my decision making. To clarify, some speakers are designed to perform better in "free air", ported or sealed enclosures. This is to me like testing using a race model with fish running and dogs swimming. Good for the major consumer of off the shelf speaker buyers tho. Not a negative comment only expanded for thought. Good job as stated before.
The B&C makes more sense in a motorcycle application where you're not able to fit a subwoofer, or not even a tweeter in some cases if you're not willing to drill some holes. But for a car application I'd be leaning towards the Hertz for the more pronounced mids, and let the subwoofer and tweeters handle the rest of the frequency range. The b&o sounds like it has an eq applied to it and that's bad for SQ, way too much lows and highs and not much mids, that's why it sounds so good on the video and as you've said, in person too.
Hey mike. I’m really confused by why your fosgates sound so much thinner than reality. I was starting to second guess myself and my 1st pair of P1650’s arrived and I installed them in front of my volvo.. not properly installed yet waiting on spacers and sealing foam , etc etc but as a dry fit test, OMG. So much bass and clarity! My factory speakers sounded decent, decent bass ontop of it, volvo did a great job. But holy hell it was like 8x the speaker. Louder, cleaner, clearer, way lower bass, and what I though of the P1650’s not being able to do thundering booming bass false, they nail it. Now admiringly I have a factory amplifier not powerful at all, it’s whatever volvo used for high performance audio, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a pathetic 25-50 watts per channel which can be done on a aftermarket head unit. I took the time to verify my wiring and made sure it’s hooked up properly and no backwards since that can cause it to send low frequencies to the tweeter and higher to the woofer.
Rockville RM64! I was skeptical with all the Rockville issues with elevated ratings and the whole K9 sub drama and there budget $50 pair price but they crank and sound good doing it with a super tight hard hitting midbass only thing that could make them sound bad is quality of installation, I have em on a 50wx4 Soundstream and they sing as loud as I should ever really need in my caravan (vans are the ultimate vehical for sound systems, no subs in the trunk to hurting SQ and cabin gain is nuts) anything more volume is showing off not listening pleasure. Obviously I'd love to try other speakers just out of curiosity and fun because I'm a gear junkie but they hold a solid high rating in my book and are a definite go to driver.

Mike bro, super awesome reviews as usual, I think I definitely want to put 4 of those orions 1600watt in my car 🔊🎶🎶🎶 They just on another level! What do you think?
Bro, that was INSANE difference for less $ on that speaker , the ORION sounds good . speakers full range without the built in tweeter have a bit high tone , tough choice but i would pick the ORION .✌
Great video! But if use better microphone to record the sound and acoustic panels on the wall of the room will be much more better. :) Carry on with the tests!
I tested so many mics an this is one of the best to giving quality sound even in high volume and in my room no Eco if you noticed, Thank you for the comment!
OK. The B&C does sound pretty good. It lacks in some areas but in others sounds better. That DS18 speaker compared to the Hertz: Hertz has no tweeter and is meant to be used with a tweeter. So that is apples to oranges. I like the Orion, but I'm pretty sure the RF sounded the best. Learn the terms, dB, sensitivity, differences in sensitivity rating scales, distortion--mechanical and electrical--damping, Q, excursion, Hz, Hz response, voice coil size, material, type, overhung?, etc. voice coil formers--which kind, material, brand--sourced parts, where made, etc.
hello Mike awesome review,Orion audio is an awesome company old tv·s had Orion speakers,so it·s been in the bussines for a log time but disappeared fpr a few years.I have those Orion in my car they are 350W and whit the proper box will give you headaches.I HOPE YOU READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DON·T RUN ORION AT MORE POWER THAN 350 WATTS.I·VE BURN ONE BECAUSE I HAD TO CONNECT THEM IN BRIDGE MODE AND FORGOT TO ADJUST THE GAIN.I WAS IN A RUSH.ANOTHER WERY GOOD COMPANY AND NOT KNOW IS DB DRIVE.YOU SHOULD INCLUDE IT YOUR VIDEOS ,THEY SOUND AMAZING AND THEY·R CHEAP.BEST REGARDS FROM SPAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I get the fact that you like the ds18 speakers. But that is the difference between a midbass driver and a mid-range speaker.the clarity of the vocals is not going to be nearly as high with a midbass driver as it is with a mid-range speaker with a built-in tweeter. So you're testing is somewhat flawed.because you're sundown audio does not come with a built-in Tweeter. It is a midbass driver. Is made for midbass. Not mid tweets. Not mid vocals. Midbass. That's it.
I agree. Like come on already with this stuff. Put the specs up, don't compare coaxials to a single component without its stweeter. "A lot of power" What does that even mean? A lot what? 150RMS or 50 RMS??? sensitivity differences, Xmax, etc. I mean to me, 150 RMS/door running components up front and coaxial in rear would be quite a bit of power, compared to what the average person runs. But hell, I've seen people running > 200 RMS to just the midrange/mid bass and then 100RMS to each tweeter running in network mode on a Pioneer HU and whatever amp
Those orions can't be 1600 watts max rating right? What are the actual max and rms ratings on those speakers? And have anyone tried their tweeter? How they sound?
direct comparison between 6 and 1/2 inch woofers six and a half inch midbass six and a half inch midrange and 6 and 1/2 inch coaxial speaker. You should narrow the test down two similar speakers to compare. It's not fair to compare speaker with Tweeter compared to a speaker without it tweeter. Also not fair to compare a woofer bass response to a mid-range bass response.
Hey Mike how are you I’m new to the channel great videos I need your help I have a 2011 Lincoln town car right now I have 6 x 9‘s in the front and 6 x 9‘s in the back five way I’m going to change the front speakers tosix by eights and the rear 6 x 9‘s and one8 inch mid range speaker what do you think the best speakers would be I will be running a 3200w rockville amp RMS 1600 not looking for too much bass looking more so for clarity and loudness my base is being covered by for alpine type r What do you think I should get
Hey I'm new tobyour channel wish u all the best, my recommendation is that u try to get a pair of deaf bounce Sylvester 6 or 8 inch and a pair of deaf bounce Arnolds also the Arnold's are for midand mid bass the Sylvesters are high mids and full sounding
That’s not how you test sound quality. You need an enclosure. You are getting sound wave cancellations from the back wave. Plus you put a midbass speaker against a full range speaker. A great midbass speaker will give you quality stuff around 80-200hz. No way you can judge this without an enclosure.
Yeah the sundown sound the best, but please put them in a small box. The orion's sound good, but edgy are we listing to anything above 1khz on 6.5? And the Hertz sound the loudest.. in the long run the orion's will smoke then the Hertz. If you really want to test quality, 1) set up a left and right channel 2) put the same tweeters on each channel, 3) get an active crossovers, and cross over the speakers at appropriate frequency's. 4) PUT THEM IN AN ENCLOSURE, unless they are free air they need a box, or door to sound right... So I can hear is the wrong frequency coming from the distortion of the speaker not getting enough back pressure to perform correctly the cones are just flapping around. And nothing will sound right without a box. 5) use the balance knob to switch from one speaker to the other. 6) if you want loud you can find that out from the specs sheet look at the db/1w the higher the number the louder the speaker is at 1 watt. It's a standard rating. It's quality your test can offer, but not in the setting your presenting.
I got the Rockford Fosgate ones, and im not so happy with them. The problem is, in my country i cannot get anything else. I need to ship and import them, that is very costly... Sooner or later i will definently buy the Orion or Pioneer, but for now im gonna leaf it that way. Do you know a good cut of frequency for Midrage, i run the 3sixty.3 dsp and i already tryed a lot, but 87 to 2500hz they sound so froggy.... Currently i run them 87 to 10000, sounds a lot better ! :D Thanks to you, i know what i should buy now. Thank you very much for your honest review !
Try running them at 125hz HP with a 24db slope and cut off with cut off at 4khz 12db slope. It's a midrange not meant for much mid bass. That's the best setting for a some mid bass without distortion. If you want to use them perfect, cross like 160hz 12 db slope and above
As a Mid Bass Sundown sounded the best 100 hz to 350 hz . Got that Bass ! For a midrange speaker 500 hz to 2khz I thought the Orion and Rockford sounded best but that's just me here on the surround sound .
You know this channel is going to go ham with the audiophile community. Great videos.
P.s. love the edm. Dubstep 4 life 🔥🔥🔥
I liked the Herzt . For a two way love ds18
I liked the Punch too
Sundown sounded muffeld.
Thanks for the hard work.
Orion still is my favorite out of them all. For $25 a each. Ds18 have the highs you need for a subwoofer
The accuracy and tightness on the Hertz was the winner for me. SQ. This seemed to be mostly a loudness comparison.

Really need your opinion and suggestions 🙏 I will copy and paste this to your videos till I get your attention 😁 BTW I have my eyes on the infinity kappa component
I had 2 orion speaker 8inches 8ohms 1600w. And I will buy another 2. Which hamp u recommend for that 4 orion ?
Mike bro, super awesome reviews as usual, I think I definitely want to put 4 of those orions 1600watt in my car 🔊🎶🎶🎶
They just on another level! What do you think?
I love them super clean and detailed loud sound
The acoustic is totally different in a vehicle than inside the house. And the sundown definitely has more bass than all of them
What’s do you think about AudioFrog mid driver component the 6.5” and 5.25”
Have a promaster ram work van.. should i do 1 Orion in a box and 2 alpine 6.5 door speakers? Don't want a sub do I need a amp if so what one?
Orion is the way to go!
Bro, that was INSANE difference for less $ on that speaker , the ORION sounds good . speakers full range without the built in tweeter have a bit high tone , tough choice but i would pick the ORION .✌
Which speaker can give competition to JBL GTO 609c I want them for my car 4 door speaker, waiting for reward
I liked the punch and the sundown . Had more of a full sound .
Although the DS 18 sounds good as well
So which speaker won
Any comparing with the Rockville RM64PRO plz
Hi Mike, what do you recommend for the best 6.5 speaker for the rear without using an amp and is only powered from a 2 DIN factory stereo? Thank you.
Rockford r good get some 3 ways they cheap and good sound
LIFE IN SPEED Mike Angels thank you so much Mike. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Great video! But if use better microphone to record the sound and acoustic panels on the wall of the room will be much more better. :) Carry on with the tests!
I tested so many mics an this is one of the best to giving quality sound even in high volume and in my room no Eco if you noticed, Thank you for the comment!
Lol i told u b&c is the best and loudest
In Trinidad we mostly use b&c and rcf
I taught you only like ds18 with your matrix an all.
I'm not a fan of ds18...
Alex Sammy let them know is b&c and rcf all d way. Ds 18 is for the budget minded who willing to compromise
Which one s the small??
Which amp r u using for testing and frequency ....... it s good sound
Orion xtr
👍
hello Mike awesome review,Orion audio is an awesome company old tv·s had Orion speakers,so it·s been in the bussines for a log time but disappeared fpr a few years.I have those Orion in my car they are 350W and whit the proper box will give you headaches.I HOPE YOU READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DON·T RUN ORION AT MORE POWER THAN 350 WATTS.I·VE BURN ONE BECAUSE I HAD TO CONNECT THEM IN BRIDGE MODE AND FORGOT TO ADJUST THE GAIN.I WAS IN A RUSH.ANOTHER WERY GOOD COMPANY AND NOT KNOW IS DB DRIVE.YOU SHOULD INCLUDE IT YOUR VIDEOS ,THEY SOUND AMAZING AND THEY·R CHEAP.BEST REGARDS FROM SPAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What about crescendo with the UNs?
Whats the purpose of midbass?? Does it give much bass??
Those orions can't be 1600 watts max rating right? What are the actual max and rms ratings on those speakers? And have anyone tried their tweeter? How they sound?
Orion for sure!!!!
Im lost as to why you are testing mids and midbass drivers with a full range signal?
The rockford 8s and 10s are insane. 6.5 is pointless
Which model is the b&c ?
I'm looking for a midrange/mid bass speaker, if you compare two speakers to one its no comparison.
Coaxial speakers have two speakers
I'd like to see the focal speaker added to this list
Yes add the focals, and let's see some skar, ct sound, and toro.
Your the best ❤
If you like the orion xtr then you might want to try the orion hcca mids and the jl audio c7s
direct comparison between 6 and 1/2 inch woofers six and a half inch midbass six and a half inch midrange and 6 and 1/2 inch coaxial speaker.
You should narrow the test down two similar speakers to compare.
It's not fair to compare speaker with Tweeter compared to a speaker without it tweeter.
Also not fair to compare a woofer bass response to a mid-range bass response.
Hey Mike how are you I’m new to the channel great videos I need your help I have a 2011 Lincoln town car right now I have 6 x 9‘s in the front and 6 x 9‘s in the back five way I’m going to change the front speakers tosix by eights and the rear 6 x 9‘s and one8 inch mid range speaker what do you think the best speakers would be I will be running a 3200w rockville amp RMS 1600 not looking for too much bass looking more so for clarity and loudness my base is being covered by for alpine type r What do you think I should get
So far I was Amazed BY B&C neos and Orions clean natural sound and louder then any other speakers
But they are different sizes or they come 6x9 and 6x8 and 8”
Would like to see some crescendo speakers in there.
At this price range you should do the sundown neopro 6.5 instead of the very old sundown you test here
Can u test dragster dme 6.1 or 8.1?
Something about any set médium ¿¿
Hey I'm new tobyour channel wish u all the best, my recommendation is that u try to get a pair of deaf bounce Sylvester 6 or 8 inch and a pair of deaf bounce Arnolds also the Arnold's are for midand mid bass the Sylvesters are high mids and full sounding
Will do it soon stay tuned )
Good info!!
Herts was ok but as we can all hear the results there are better options and for a lot cheaper price .
The b&c is 8 ohms?
Can you do audio legion neo 6.5
would love to hear the d4s 60 v2 vs the
b&c
Comming soon
Can you test the faital pro 6fe200?
Why no Cerwin Vega...anywhere?
Cuz they dont same as much as this guys )
have a proper crossover network on them to play the correct range and it will be a much more fair comparison.
What about faital pro ????
That’s not how you test sound quality. You need an enclosure. You are getting sound wave cancellations from the back wave. Plus you put a midbass speaker against a full range speaker. A great midbass speaker will give you quality stuff around 80-200hz. No way you can judge this without an enclosure.
You always talk too much?
Yeah the sundown sound the best, but please put them in a small box. The orion's sound good, but edgy are we listing to anything above 1khz on 6.5? And the Hertz sound the loudest.. in the long run the orion's will smoke then the Hertz.
If you really want to test quality,
1) set up a left and right channel
2) put the same tweeters on each channel,
3) get an active crossovers, and cross over the speakers at appropriate frequency's.
Just admit that the Rockford rock
You should test some soundquebed speakers
Can you try some pioneers
I got the Rockford Fosgate ones, and im not so happy with them. The problem is, in my country i cannot get anything else. I need to ship and import them, that is very costly...
Sooner or later i will definently buy the Orion or Pioneer, but for now im gonna leaf it that way.
Do you know a good cut of frequency for Midrage, i run the 3sixty.3 dsp and i already tryed a lot, but 87 to 2500hz they sound so froggy.... Currently i run them 87 to 10000, sounds a lot better ! :D
Thanks to you, i know what i should buy now. Thank you very much for your honest review !
I was surprised how rockford sounded shit comparing other speakers I mean really bad
@@LIFEINSPEEDI tried everything to make them sound good, i even thought my amp ist shit.. I will never buy hyped Rockford Products again !
Try running them at 125hz HP with a 24db slope and cut off with cut off at 4khz 12db slope. It's a midrange not meant for much mid bass. That's the best setting for a some mid bass without distortion. If you want to use them perfect, cross like 160hz 12 db slope and above
@@LIFEINSPEED you have to HP 160hz ( rule of thumb is to double the Fs)
You don't have them set up right
