You are the friggin MAN!. Not gonna lie, that stupid end link gave me fits, tried doing the job without touching it, big mistake. Wasted an hour trying to line that single long bolt up through the bracket, it was the very last bolt. Thank you for the keen insight, it is invaluable.
Looking at this video made me appreciate more that I have a battery powered impact wrench. Cordless impacts makes life easier, especially when you are doing suspension work
BEST VIDEO on this job! Thanks man 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Underrated. Kept searching UA-cam for this. I do have a 3 part video for my 05 Camry V6's front catalytic converter, since there was nothing out there that showed how to do it.
Maybe you can change the title to include the years this will work for? (2002-2006) I know lots of people are looking for this video to do their cars, so it would be nice to include the years so the UA-cam algorithm will pull this video up.
I could try to record myself replacing these control arms, but my phone camera sucks.
This is same for all camrys up to 2017 MY.
Thank you for the video! Great info!
Très bon tutoriel, clair et concis. Good video, thank you man!👍👍👍
Short and to the point. 👍
Excellent video!
Good job, good video thanks!
Great video thanks
Thanks
Great video thank you
Thanks for watching!😎
@@fixinit no.. thank you your video was dead on correct.
Man, you're better than me. I loosened the front motor mount also to do this job. I didn't remove it, just loosened it a bit. I thought it made it easier to lift the engine high enough.
On the driver side what is you jack point when removing the motor mount? In the video it was on the trans or oil pan?
Transmission
V.good video. Did you have to do alignment when you finished.
No
Thanks for the video I may try to do this to my 2003 seems like it’s the same thing wrong the tire is going sideways and the other are fine straight , could someone thing else be wrong? My friend came and took the tire off and said it was broke. So that probably why tire is tweaked .
A bent or broke control arm would do it. Without looking at it, it’s hard to tell what else could be wrong
Thanks. Great video. Did that little bolt cover item you slid on at 2:38 come with the new arm or from the old one. Do mechanics sometimes forget to put that on when installing these? Thanks.
You have to reuse the old bolt and I hope no mechanic ever forgets to put that back on. It wouldn’t be good! Thanks for watching. 😎
Thank you great and simple explanation. Do you have to do alignment after this replacement ?
@@fixinit hello there, could it be possible that bad bushings in front control arms cause front of vehicle to bump easily in when going over bumps? My car feels very bumpy. Please let me know. Thanks
Yes. But other things like bad struts and links can cause bumps and rattles. Have someone check your suspension so you don’t waste money replacing the wrong thing.
@@fixinit thanks 🙂 👌
Thanks for the video, I was just wondering on how long did it take to do the job?
About 2 hours
@@fixinit i have a Toyota camry se 2015. Do these vehicles have an upper control arm? Please let me know, thanks
The front end of my 2002 Toyota Camry sits a bit low. It's not even with the rear. I had the struts changed, and it looks the same. Could it be that my car looks lower in the front end because I need to change the control arms?
Did they replace the springs when they replaced the struts?
When you removed the one motor mount did you loosen or remove any other motor mounts? Looks like you raised the transmission almost 6 inches.
No changes to other motor mounts
@@fixinitso you didn’t have to loosen any other motor mounts besides what you did in the video? If so that’s crazy that it can lift that much
@manuelramos4608 I think it helped that the motor mounts were shot
Just so everyone knows, this applies all the way up to the 2016 xv50.
The dog bone motor mount at the top passenger side of the engine bay needs to be removed in order to jack up the engine.
Hi. After this work car will need alignment ?
No
Congratulations another video showing the easy side. Guess when I figure out the hard side I should make a video since all UA-camrs only change one side
Didn’t know there’s an easy side.😎
is the left and right parts are different or interchangeable?
Different part numbers
Is this process the same for the passenger side
Yes
Should you change out your motor mount when changing out controller arm ?
Definitely not a bad idea since you are removing them anyway.
Where did you get the grease
You can buy it any auto parts store
Hi im gonna do it in my car but I'm wondering if i need an alignment after
I didn’t do it but it’s not a bad idea
@@fixinit thanks...was the other side pretty much the same??
Yes
@@fixinit im in the middle of it actually I don't see anywhere to jack it up here. Did u jack it up by the engine oil pan?
@CanadianAnanth Nooo. Jack the sides and put Jack stands
Thanks for providing such clear instructions and providing the nut sizes. Often this stuff left out of these type of videos. But I wonder about your use of blue loctite on the ball joint stud. Sure, blue will break free with enough pressure when it comes time to change it again, but if the cotter pin is put through the castle nut, that castle nut is never going to vibrate free, so what's the point of adding the extra hassle to remove the nut later by putting on loctite at all?
The Loctite was for the 3 bolts/nuts that connect the ball joint to the control arm.😎
How much would dealer charge ?
According to Google; Labor costs are estimated between $262 and $331.
i did the drivers side control arm by jacking up transmission like you did but on passenger side i dont know where to jack up
I know, there’s no place. Put a piece of wood on the jack and lift it by the oil pan.
You dont live in the rust belt so EVERY job is easy. Lol
Where's the 20 years of rust? Asks Ohio man.
is this the same as Avalon?
Similar procedure

@@fixinit did you torque anything? Going to do this today
Just goodntight😎
@@fixinit figured lol, I've had two other mechanics with differing opinions on torque
Hammering the steering knuckle will cause it to break, then you're screwed. This is bad instruction also there was so many errors done that could've made this control arm replacement easier and shorter.
Make a better video then! Haha
Can’t make a better video, too busy trolling.😎
It's a possibility, but very unlikely to break. They usually drop out without much abuse. It's obvious this video is geared for the person wishing to repair their own car who don't own a Mac Tool Box full of tools.
Thanks
