High neuroticism, low self-esteem. He probably learned at an early age being seen can be dangerous, whether it was being bullied, maybe a less than great home life or something else. I don't think so. I guess you put too much in it. He just thinks that they are all liars and want to kiss his ass because of whatever reason. @Matthew Flores there are many reasons for him to lie such as having a good image which if you are famous it's very useful.. perhaps what reason do you have to call him idiot for stating his opinion? Looks like his act got you good.
Yah there's some people mentioning fake humbleness which I find interesting. I don't blame him for it either. I mean you can realize either you have an ego problem or.. you realize you can't express how well you've done something very well without upsetting people. Could have low self esteem and is afraid of overcompensating his achievements. All that being said I wouldn't doubt any possibility.
I'm a huuuuge Daniel Day-Lewis and Christian Bale fan but I think Joaquin tops even those guys, he's simply the best actor. Period. And an absolute gold standard for a human being.
Amy's crush on Joaquin is pretty obvious. When asked in an interview who she'd take with her to a desert island she picked Joaquin. The man is irresistible and I'm not sure he's aware of it.
This man is just in a constant bliss. And he is trying to get out of himself 24/7 when transforming into this version of him when selling himself outside of film.
Everybody calls me weird for doing that. The problem is my birthday is JAN 11 so everyone is tired of celebrating Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years. So I understand all that.
Watching Joaquin makes me realize what I really want to be or wish I was - also realizing how very boring and almost detrimental I am in human interaction. It's kind of humbling there was only one person I ever made regard me as Joaquin's peers regard him
God I relate so much to Joaquin. I don't know if he has social anxiety like I do but it sure seems like it. He at least has some sort of low self-esteem which is such a shame cause he's so great. I'm a realist oil painter and I never got into this with the idea that I would have to network so much and sell myself in order to be successful and it never gets easier. You can compliment the work but I cringe so hard when people tell me how gifted I am. I still don't know how to respond and its really nightmarish sometimes.
@@joana9039 Thanks. I do wish more people understood this. Something in me wants to always downplay and consider myself as a human copy machine, a paint by numbers color matching exercise. Showing in galleries with other artists when you are critical of yourself can give you imposter syndrome. When people act like its magic you feel like a liar and a fake as an artist cause when you have worked a long time at something it does not seem like magic to you after breaking it down and because there really are so many other professions that actually make significant change and are unsung heroes. Not to mention growing up being told its not a real job. But you can just see the wheels turning in Joaquins head and pinpoint the exact moments when he lets his own narrative and fears take over, and it makes me wonder if others can see that very fear in me. It then becomes fear of the fear, and when you notice the fear creep in its hard not to let it take hold. You can see him start to get exhausted as the giant crowd just cheers and cheers as he has to maintain composure under a spot light.. he tries to get them to strop cheering which only makes them cheer more.. he turns around so as to not face the crowd only to be met with more rows of faces staring and smiling down at him and you can tell he's thinking "oh no don't show that you're freaked out".. he tries to get them to stop again and again.. he practically clings to the director for comfort like a lost child. I mean this is a nightmare situation for him and growing up as a child actor, and then his brother passing.. he most definitely has ptsd, which I also have, for different reasons obviously. But it gives you tunnel vision and makes it hard to focus on questions cause you sort of have an out of body experience and aren't able to live in the moment. Some people like Letterman and Ellen seem to get a real kick out of it. Even his friends say "I know Joaquin doesn't want me to say this but..." and continue to do it anyway. Definitely hard for me to watch.

even when he said " its hard to stop " i can feel hows that moment .
He's so much process-oriented. I liked that.
He's saying he's not talented so people feel he's humble. He just knows how to pretend very well and lie for a living. And I / we love him for that.
I think he hates them because of anxiety and how all eyes are on him all of a sudden
True
@@joana9039 I'm the same way and act just like him in social situations cannot help it
@@734wheeler5 Very often I do so too! 😊It's so hard sometimes!
hey man I love the way you are! River is laughing now and of course proud of u
❤
I'm a huuuuge Daniel Day-Lewis and Christian Bale fan but I think Joaquin tops even those guys, he's simply the best actor. Period. And an absolute gold standard for a human being.
15:17 She gives a subconscious non verbal cue when she grabs her hair right there...
Amy's crush on Joaquin is pretty obvious. When asked in an interview who she'd take with her to a desert island she picked Joaquin. The man is irresistible and I'm not sure he's aware of it.
i watched one thing about joaquin and here i am tryna watch every video of him on yt
Don't worry, it's allright, we've all been there 😊
“He’s the best actor of my generation”
Joaquin: Who tf have you worked with to say that?
It was funny that he asked that but to be fair you can tell by her response that she really did work with some great actors
my boy must be very hydrated by all the times he has to drink water for the amount of compliments he gets
😊
As a fellow 🦂 I have always understood his mood. He just hates fake people...🦂s hate ego driven people amd situations and always call them out.
👍😊
I know way too many of you guys 🦂🦂
I'm happy that he is one of us. Were not all that evil as people make us out to be.
This man is just in a constant bliss. And he is trying to get out of himself 24/7 when transforming into this version of him when selling himself outside of film.
He is such a likeable bloke. A mate so to say.
He is ❤😊
bloke 😀😀😀😀
What I want to know is during the first interview who that is was a good idea to play two languages at the same fucking time? Like what the fuck?
I've liked his acting going back to 8mm, but he's too socially awkward for me.
He’s so handsome I wanna hug him 💖
😍😍😍
I’m similar to not liking compliments, I don’t even like to celebrate my bday
Same!😊
marry me please
Everybody calls me weird for doing that. The problem is my birthday is JAN 11 so everyone is tired of celebrating Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years. So I understand all that.
You must suffer from Depression then☹.
Audrey Nalina me too.
He has such soulful eyes!
Incredible eyes! ❤❤❤❤
I promise you I mean this in the best way possible. But he is so damn humble, that it’s irritating. Like he’s so sweet, and so humble.
I know what you mean ❤😊
The last clip came together beautifully
😊
LOL that David Letterman interview had me geeking laughing. Perfect!
😂
He's so good because he's always working
Feel like he doesn't love himself or doesn't think he deserves it. Maybe why he is so good, always working on his craft.
I think so too ❤
The only part Joaquin Phoenix can’t play is Joaquin Phoenix. He is just too likable.
Love this thought ❤
*too
James McCloy thanks James!
Joaquin isn’t the most famous or popular actor, but in terms of acting talent he is one of the best
He's super talented! ❤ And I think that acting in 'Joker' has boosted his popularity levels massively 😊
Watching Joaquin makes me realize what I really want to be or wish I was - also realizing how very boring and almost detrimental I am in human interaction. It's kind of humbling there was only one person I ever made regard me as Joaquin's peers regard him
Don't be so hard on youreslf, I'm sure your a lovely human 🙏🏻❤
Joaqin : Yes please stop clapping this was good enough
*clapping and yelling intensifies*
😁
He owns such a hot sweet fascinating stunning enticing handsome eyes' look. Hoooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww?
😊❤😊
Great video as usual.
❤❤❤
3:45 was my favorite part. “Oh, please! You didn’t write the part for me, it’s preposterous!” 🤣
😄
God I relate so much to Joaquin. I don't know if he has social anxiety like I do but it sure seems like it. He at least has some sort of low self-esteem which is such a shame cause he's so great. I'm a realist oil painter and I never got into this with the idea that I would have to network so much and sell myself in order to be successful and it never gets easier. You can compliment the work but I cringe so hard when people tell me how gifted I am. I still don't know how to respond and its really nightmarish sometimes.
Love your insightful comment! Thank you for sharing your relatable experience ❤ And good luck with your art, which I'm sure, is wonderful 😊
Such a compelling actor...
So true ❤😊
He's so very handsome
He is! ❤😊
God I love him. One of (if not the best) actors working today. My favorite after Daniel Day-Lewis
👍🥰❤
@@joana9039 same here ! DDL and joaquin
