my personal canon is that having the media swarm Joaquin's home after the death of his brother forged his unorthodox interview personality. He understands what the media and public wants from celebrities. People want to know everything from celebrities' lives to form a parasocial relationship, and he's basically teasing us for it.
But it's like, how far should that really go? What's wrong with -most- of the questions that get asked of actors on talk shows? Sometimes interviewers and such do pry far too deeply, yes, but I'd say the majority of most interviews are a fairly innocuous mix of questions about the film, the experience of making the film, and some pieces of how the actor is doing and their general life.
@JohnnyNoPockets ah yes, the epitome of adulthood you are, dropping into a conversation to posit something stupid, while calling others childish. Nope, no irony here

How insane is Dodford?!!! Truly, you are so talented.

I like how this edit reflects how Joaquin is a bit all over the place and an enigma. Though the story was a bit constant train of thought, it was slightly chaotic, but it works so well haha
Agreed. When it's done well, people usually don't notice how well-sequenced it is, because if that's the case, the editing usually just better showcases the story/content/film itself, and the actual cutting and lettering of audio clips bleeding over other audio and video clips , and vice versa. I remember I had a film teacher day, (in his opinion, only slightly in jest) that If you, "really notice the editing, frame by frame, then either you're a student of film, you're autistic, you're an electronic producer making beats or rap instrumentals, and your ears are pre-tuned, (or both probably lol) ...or maybe you're Amish, and this is the first video you've ever seen----barring those exceptions, if you notice the stories frame by frame sequence work, more open then the story itself, it's almost certain the film editor isn't doing his damn job." Dodford I really want to thank you for my tears triggered by your godlike ending sequence, for the happiness that your passion radiates and for the sadness but also inspiration for my own life. Thank you truly and long life to you
I saw Joaquin Phoenix at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
I appreciate how every Dodford video seeks to humanize pop culture icons who are no longer perceived as ordinary, everyday people like us. In the end, Dodford achieves this in a spectacular manner by highlighting the cost of things we desire in life but often can't attain, contrasting the lives of superstar actors, Hollywood favorites, or icons. Despite their fame, Dodford successfully portrays a common thread that unites us all. The most striking aspect of his videos is not the number of awards, wealth, or fame these individuals have attained, but rather the simplicity of aspects that every human can relate to. Dodford's videos bring attention to elements that are often overlooked amidst the hype surrounding the American dream or other ideals. By humanizing those considered larger than life, Dodford reveals that, regardless of status, everyone faces human problems and obstacles. The higher the stakes, the greater the price individuals pay, emphasizing the shared human experience.
An absolute BANGER! Very well done you should be really proud of your work! Love how you included River and went into his roots a bit! Thank you for this! Really hit home 🪙🇨🇦
PHENOMENAL video making!!! BRAVO!!! It never ceases to blow my mind that celebrities, much less anyone, get criticised for what they like or don't like and the media/public obsession with commenting on / criticising the perceived likes and dislikes of celebrities is absolutely insane ... I've never stopped applauding and cheering on Joaquine's frustration and mockery of it all over the years!!!!
Funny how everyone just forgets or ignores the fact that he is an outstanding leader for Animal Rights and Justice. This is something I have the greatest respect and admiration for. Anyone who takes this on is an amazing human being in my eyes.
I kind of don't understand why people think he's weird, I relate to his mannerisms on live shows quite a lot as someone who's a private person. It really is the industry that's crazy imo
He spent a long time pretending to be insane, saying he was becoming a rapper in 2009. It would make more sense if a person tried to do that now, but back then rap music wasn't really popular in the mainstream, so it made him seem bonkers. I don't think anybody really knows why he was acting like that to be honest.
Excellent edit. I'm glad this video was suggested..I love joaquin and I miss river so much. Its tragic. Joaquin in gladiator top 10 best performance of all time. Maybe even his portrayl of Johnny cash too
I don't want to say this BUT, nowadays your videos seem boring. Maybe I've subscribed to see the creators(dodfords) view with the creators own narrative. The problem is that I'm not able to connect to the content. I understand that this Type of content is pretty hard to make and it takes so much effort. Anyways appreciate your work.

The UA-cam recommendation that won! I didn't know what I'd clicked on except that it was about Joaquin but I was instantly hooked and couldn't stop watching. Amazing job, thanks for that
This channel is such a hidden gem, your videos are phenomenal! Thanks for the hard work again!
200.000+ subscribers is hardly "hidden" though.
I can see why my good friend loved Joaquin. She loved the weird guys and Joaquin is a fun weird. She would have loved this video. I miss her. RIP Brandi. Fuck cancer!
Dodford I really want to thank you for my tears triggered by your godlike ending sequence, for the happiness that your passion radiates and for the sadness but also inspiration for my own life. Thank you truly and long life to you
I saw Joaquin Phoenix at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face.
After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
lol classic
Bro is actually a total troll😂😂
none of these words are in the bible
Independent thinkers, often appear douchey.
Aw that was brilliant man, just so damn good. About 6 minutes in it just started to flow over me. You're an artist.
get help.
Wow I remebered watching the iconic moments on the late shows but only found out it was planned!
Alway acting, he’s an actor.
This feels like a tribute, I had goosebumps a couple times ❤
This this this 💯❤.
Damn!
The edits are next level!
This guys better than Netflix holy shit and hes like 20 years old
Such a good video. It's criminal that you don't get at least a million views.
I'm gonna share the hell out of this
Our generation was blessed with the genius of Joaquin Phoenix
I think that this is one of the most well done doc on Joaquin Phoenix and River. Thank you. Amazing ending, amazing cut.
I absolutely love your style of video. It's amazingly different, yet perfect, and edited so incredibly well that I would watch for hours.
Funny how everyone just forgets or ignores the fact that he is an outstanding leader for Animal Rights and Justice. This is something I have the greatest respect and admiration for. Anyone who takes this on is an amazing human being in my eyes.
Why pay £17.99 for a subscription when you have this level of storytelling on UA-cam. Incredible work!
@@Philip_Taylor idk, maybe it was just funny
Best channel on this platform hands down. So refreshing to see such a crazy passionate work ethic in the videos.
He’s not at war with himself. He knows himself well.
Genius
I love Joaquin so much. He's not only an amazing actor but a good person, an activist for animals. ❤️
He still so, so handsome.
Excellent edit. I'm glad this video was suggested..I love joaquin and I miss river so much. Its tragic. Joaquin in gladiator top 10 best performance of all time. Maybe even his portrayl of Johnny cash too
So happy he has a family now and is grounded. Loved Napoleon. Joaquin is one of the most greatest actors of our time..
I really enjoyed the way your sponsor was integrated! I kinda didn’t mind the way you had me hooked :) cheers!
Joaquin is the BEST actor of our time!
This video slaps dude. Editing is unique, and the story telling style is tight. Keep up this shit u earned a subscriber
How you manage to put together these videos without uttering a word yourself amazes me.
Wow, you really did a brilliant job with this mini docu!
It was absolutely at a professional standard; I wouldn’t have been surprised in the slightest if this had made by a well established production company.
If you aren’t already doing it professionally (and you enjoy the work enough / aren’t already doing something you prefer)- I’d seriously suggest perusing a career out of it.
Seriously phenomenal!
👌🏼
It is criminal that you don't have more subscribers. These videos are masterpieces
Insane video from the starting thumbnail-to-intro transition. Awesome work Dodford
That montage at the end was really great, awesome editing
Do you know what is the name of the song playing during it?
I'm even more confused than before I watched - which is partly because I'm dense and I suspect partly by design lol well done. I don't really care about actors and their lives, but this guy has an interesting story! The editing/story was phenomenal as well, but that's not surprising anymore since your work is so consistent. Thanks for the hard work
This is genius I don’t know how you made it flow so well I literally thought I was watching a movie on Netflix for a sec
You make incredible documentaries, bro.
Round of applause, my friend.
Another one beautifully done.
I love it.
x
Every video is so well made, AND we doin Jamie Foxx next? Awesome.
darn, knew I should've made that teaser more difficult 🙄
appreciate the support!
@@DodfordYT I just googled the town lol. But yeah, keep up the great vids!
