I have a Baltany 6BB homage chronograph. Although I love the watch, the finish is coarse, and the printed dial is utilitarian at best. Besides, this watch has two textured sub-dials with a date window, but 6BB has two printed sub-dials w/o a date window. I prefer this one to 6BB.
Exactly, I wasn’t expecting that at all. It’s just one of those things you don’t realize until you have the watch in front of you. Way too distracting for me.
I thought the refined look with the variety of brushing and polished areas gave it an edge over the bead blasted predecessors. I bought the green dialed version. Like you said, a seconds hand sub dial would have been nice.
Agreed, that refinement is why I got this instead of the bead blasted predecessors, but it still didn’t click with me. In hindsight, I might have liked the green dial version you have better. That colour adds a ton of life to the watch!
Good review Harvind. Doesn't quite do it this one. I have one for review with the Miyota and running seconds. Trying to make a budget Hanhart out of it. We'll see how I get on 😅
It’s a great watch. But you’re right. Not their strongest offering. I’m waiting for them to expand more outside of their military style watches. Thanks for the great review.
I do like chronographs but i don't understand why so many manufacturers are making chrono's that only record minutes, hours are an extreme rarity, and the there's pointless 24 hour dial. Someone please give us a chrono' that records not just hours, but 10ths of a second too. I owned an Accurist chrono in the mid 1980's, a quartz movement, which I know is deal breaker for some, but it had those exact features. The main second hand ticked away with the time until the start button was semi depressed at which it quickly flicked the 12 position. When start was fully depressed off it went with hours, minutes, and 10th of a second subdials. It was a beautiful and I actually miss it quite a bit, watch but haven't seen anything with a comparable chronograph since, from any manufacturer.
I actually like the absence of a ticking small seconds when the Chrono isn't operational, maintains the illusion that it's an automatic Quartzist? Sue me, some of my best watches are quartz 😀
Haha fair enough. I don’t mind a ticking second hand in a sub dial. That doesn’t bug me as much since it’s so small. A VH31-style movement with a chrono function would be the best of both worlds.
Same ole thing, milking the cow dry. They are making fantastic watches for the money that actually sell very well which is why I think they are a little hesitant to step away from what they have been doing. It’s almost like the military Chronograph is Baltanys flagship model. I wish they would take a chance and try a skin diver range or do something a little crazier like a compression diver. Idk, just feel like these chronographs are getting a bit stale.
Spot on. The military chronograph can remain their flagship, but there’s only so many variations they can do before it gets played out. I’d love to see their take on a skin or compression diver too, that would be interesting!
I like Baltany, particularly their military chrono, but this is a miss for me. It does not appear on par for quality and the VK64 is an undesirable movement. Although after owning a couple, I am not a fan of mecha-quartz for chronographs with the sweeping minute counter.
Which Baltany chronograph is your favourite?
What a beauty 🥰 If I had to buy one now, I wouldn't know what to choose between this one and the RAF 6BB homage 😅
Get ALL the Baltany chronos 🤣
@@WristWatching I already spend way more than I should on watches 😂 Especially on military style watches 😍
@@GalorOffroad Then forget what I said. I've heard that I'm a bad influence 🤣

Totally on point with that observation of the bezel, shone so bright almost distracting. Good watch for the money if youre on a budget.

Looks pretty cool. Like the brushed look and that crown is cool too imo
The crown is incredibly cool, but it seems like I’m the only one who doesn’t like the brushed bezel 🤣

Thanks, John! That model looks a bit more interesting to me. Looking forward to seeing your take on it. 😉

Thanks for watching as always man! I’m excited to see if/how they expand their line too. I think it’s about time they added some variety.
I refuse to buy any chronograph with a useless 24 hour subdial
True. It’s better to have moonshine view. But budget restrictions
There seems to be a lot of these coming out lately. Even my Seiko Speedtimer has one.
Exactly. I'm personally looking for one with a 12hr register and it's so hard in the sub 1000 range

This is my first VK64 and I'm not a fan. I should have gone with one of Baltany's earlier chronos, maybe during the next sale!
