Nirvana is definitely one of the best live bands ever. I find myself watching old sets and you can hear how true to life the actual studio album is to how they sound when performing
Besides the old timers before them one of the last, if not the last, rock bands that recorded an album and toured on it in large venues. Foo Fighters don't count.

I've gained a real new appreciation for Kurt's voice after hearing the Puddle of Mud cover.
I don’t know why, but I still don’t like his voice, never have done. Light years better than Wes, obviously, but I’ve just never been able to enjoy Nirvana for some reason.

@@BarefootIguana when I was a teen (15~16 years ago) it was a given in the metal/hard rock scene to make fun of Nirvana for being "easy to play" songs and to say that Kurt's singing was weak. I remember for a time I went, "Nirvana? Bah, There are thousands of metal bands that do things way better than them!".
I joined the crowd back then, and I feel so sorry for myself.

Just came back home after watching the movie 'Elvis'....filled with nostalgia from my college years after listening to all those songs. Man....Presley, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, MJ, John Lennon, Jimmy Hendricks, Jim Morrison, Chester, etc, etc, etc....you guys are like superheroes to us.... It's like a curse that you all had to go before your time. But then again, maybe it's actually better to burnout than to fade away! Thank you for all the memories...will take them to my grave & beyond!

Josh, yeah and his photos were often shrouded in album booklets. The video "Heart-Shaped Box" pretty much sums how he viewed himself. Everyone that knew him got worried because they knew he wasn't acting in it.
There's really nothing like being taken back to these raw moments in history where people could freaking play their instruments and sing and let it all hang out for us peasants to enjoy forever. Nothing comes close to Kurt and Layne's raw talent for singing, they're equally as good and raw and beautiful as Robert Plant. Just the epitome of what the soul craves. Effortless perfection.

Fun fact: the people in charge of this concert at one point were considering either canceling the show or getting a different drummer to replace Dave Grohl because he was bashing the drums too hard even after they told him to rein it in a little. The solution was to give him the drum rakes he used that night instead of drum sticks, and the rest is history.

'Sure you get that a lot. In any case, you're right. As a Capricorn, if I remember correctly back from when I really used to get down and study the shit out of the zodiac (so much so that I got good at guessing peoples' signs), apparently we are not supposed to get along very well. But I am also a Libran ascendent, raised by two Librans - one a double - and also have a baby sister and auntie who are randomly Libran ascendents. The first time I heard this and realised who it was, it blew my mind, it was an absolute revelation to me. The whole unplugged album is a big reveal, a stripped back to basics reveal of just what a truly great songwriter Kurt was, a reveal of his inspirations, a reveal of his depth of musical knowledge and interests. I had a whole new understanding and respect for Kurt Cobain after hearing Nirvana Unplugged.
Nirvana will forever be no 1 in my list.
