- Electro-Harmonix’s new Tri Parallel Mixer is a powerful effects creation and mixing hub. Three separate FX loops with flexible controls allow for multiple configurations, as follows:
-Run up to three FX Loops in parallel and create sounds that are not possible by connecting effects in series.
-Switch seamlessly between FX Loops in XOR mode
-Send one instrument out to three separate amplifiers
-Mix three instruments into a single output.
Learn more about the EHX Tri Parallel Mixer: www.ehx.com/triparallelmixer
The Tri Parallel Mixer is surprisingly compact considering the level of functionality it provides, while its intuitive controls and I/O make it easy to operate. Use it to switch between or mix up to three separate effects loops. Send a guitar or other instrument out to three separate amplifiers, or input three separate instruments to switch between or mix to a single output. Mix effects in parallel to create sounds and allow for options not possible when using effects in series (one after another).
The Tri-Parallel Mixer comes with an EHX 9.6DC power supply.

AS SOON as I saw the 3 muffs set up to run parallel, I thought "he'd better play something from Siamese Dream"! Hahahaha. Masterfully done.
Sounded great!!
Dude, this is awesome. I can imagine blending my overdrives and getting more useable and unique tones. Knocked it out of the park guys!
FINALLY a pedal company gives parallel some LOVE! I'm been wishing for this stuff for years!
EHX is killing me with all the awesome toys they're putting out lately.
Killing your bank account you mean. You're broke, but you got your guitar pedals.
@@shitmandood Essentially, yes. "That's the facts jack!"
exactly. This pedal pretty much solves my routing issues.
The triple tracked fuzz at the end seems like fun to play with.
Seriously the best tone of the vid IMO. TPM solves all the problems of all three pedals.
True like stacking 3 opamp big muffs to get that smashing pumpkins sound lol but it's never gonna sound anything like true multitracking. When he played Quiet it was pretty gnarly considering it's 1 guitar
LOVE LOVE LOVE this thing. EHX has to have someone reading my mind. They are always coming up with great stuff.
I've been trying to find a BOSS LS-2 to play in parallel, and now EHX will let me add a third signal with greater control and at about the same price. KUDOS! Now take my money!
Honestly, I'm more interested in this as a buffered ABY switcher for multiple instruments into one amp (or one instrument out to multiple amps). Thank you for making this thing flexible!
I don't know if it's buffered but check put their switchblade pro
This has changed the way I record stuff. I only wish there was a 4 channel version! ;
I always liked the dedicated loop on the Turnip Greens pedal and now they've implemented the same concept into a true parallel switcher/mixer. I've been waiting on this one for years. Not to mention the possibilities with stereo pedals.
Hi Caleb - Would you be willing to detail the possibilities you see for stereo pedals with this mixer ? Thank you ! John
I run all my pedals split once by a Mel9 and again by an EHX platform through a Zoom R24, currently six tracks two stereo pairs and two mono. Sometimes, it feels like I am a whole band. I thought everybody did this.
good ol' EHX - comes out with a pedal that I never thought I'd need, but I now feel like I can't live without at all!
it's why I own a Cock Fight and an original HOG, and will be purchasing this (and an 8-step Program) next.
8-Step is fantastic. Love that thing.
GAS rehab the first step is admitting you have a problem. You can do it!
Excellent reviewer, very well presented and great playing to boot!
Where has this pedal been all my life?
Another great utility box from EHX!
Nice! I've been looking for some sort of way to mix guitar and synths. And it's a bonus that it's EHX!
Well this is one way I can use the oceans 11 and Grand Canyon but I still want a mix of both called the marianas trench lol
AfternoonConcession superb idea!!!
Lukas Ohlsson that name is a nice way to combine the too
So my oceans 11 and flashback 2 would be a flashflood ?
@@jameswilkins4motion EHX Tsunami !!
@@jameswilkins4motion Maybe the backwash?
Excellent!! I was looking for a way to blend multiple“amp in a box” pedals together. This looks to be the perfect solution and very affordable too!
It's amazingly affordable! I want this for a couple of my wild delay pedals.
I've used my Mel9 and Synth 9 to split the signal into two chains before but this is a great way to properly blend the two!
I did the same with the same pedals and dropped them into a stereo looper.
I thought, " train wreck " at first. But I should have known better. You guys at EHX can really bring it and make it happen.
Imagine what you could do with a gang of three Tri Parallel Mixers sinks together running nine complete pedals
This is a very tempting device for the effects loving bass player...
Ohh yes. 'Been messing around with parallel signal for years. This pedal gonna be fun.
I’ve been using a wounded paw v3 for awhile and this looks like a cheaper alternative, without the vulnerable microswitches located right where they can get kicked! (Was a nightmare to replace one lol)
Great for Bass
agree 100%
Killer! Love the functionality!
Congratulations EHX, What I was waiting for....
This is a great way to add blend to an effects loop on an amp that’s in series
Probably gonna end up with several of these in the studio.
Would be great if you guys also would make a stereo version with pan pots as well.
Hell yeah!!!!!! Great performance 👍
This is an amazing idea!
Great pedal and a great review!
Oh wow ... here we go again! NICE! ; )
New Yorrrrk City.
Mike...you brothers are doin the lawds work🤘😎
This is revolutionary!
I have one. Love it. I wish, though, that it had return output reduction depending on how many channels are active so that overall output does not necessarily increase as number of channels active increases.
That's cool John.
Thats a killer device!!!
I'd run glossy cleans with a mild flanger into a pulsar on one channel, a germanium big muff with a sub-octaver on another, and a fender pugilist or MXR super badass distortion on the third channel.
It would sound so wrong, yet so right
I'm feeling like EHX making all my dream pedals into reality...
Nice! Bass-player love!!! 😍
thanks for writing back so quickly.what I meant was.dis or overdrive then delay in to mixer into clean amp .
This is very relevant to my interests!
it's actually channel splitter but in a badass way
please make a stereo version off it. stereo in - stereo out with stereo send - returns. ohh the possibilities
ABC/Y BOX from my dream !
I was looking for a pedal that was like the virtual signal splitter and blender pedal on Logic Pro and it looks like I've found something even better!!!
omg... blows my mind... very cool
Perfect!
Awesome!!!
3 of the mel9 with strings, coir and brass is great
This is cool!
Great tool, it's like a broadened idea of the most recent gigrig product, for a bit different use! There has to be some market for these if there are similar tools coming out around the same time.
And this ones cheaper than the GigRig one too
Being able to mix a dry signal with an effected signal is really useful for bass players because pedals add capacitance to your signal which kills your low end.
So a product like this will let bass players use pedals and have a fat tone without needing 2 amps
Awesomeness.
I know I'm late to the party but that lick @4:39- oh my!!
awesome !!!
You should demo the parallel sound vs the normal serial sound everyone normally uses, that way you'd get everyone to understand the difference.
Cool AF
Thanks Tom
Don't think three muffs would sound nearly so tight in series. Good way to run two or three of the same kind of pedal for that really reactive, living, excited sound.
I just got this pedal and my brain is overloading from all the ideas I'm getting 😂
got it. boy... it's great
I'm gonna get one of these for use in the studio...
But I also want a stereo/dual mono version with 4 loops, panning knobs, the ability to switch the tone control from post-loop to pre-loop, individual/global expression control over knobs(like the returns & eqs), a way to turn on all or some loops at the same time with the press of one foot switch, and then after all that maybe include an integrated stereo Holy Grail Max + tilt eq that can be mixed into each loop or used individually in series at the end of the chain! The EHX Quad Parallel Ultra Stereo Supreme EX Plus Alpha Mixer?
Also id prefer individual left and right jacks over a trs with insert cables thank you!
Neat!
I was literally looking this up to use with the 9 series pedals, and it’s literally the first thing shown on screen.
Tells me all I need to know.
Hi Tom, nice job, can we see the "triple keyboard" (C9 & co) wiring somewhere ? Where can you get the best ''dry'' signal only for guitar amp ?
You nailed it !
3 channels plus clean blend, with input and output level + EQ per channel is a very well thought tool.
What is you price for this ?
$138.70
Well, now I've got to figure out how to get one of these without the wife knowing I just spent money on yet another EHX product......
Could totally replace my Morley ABC box!
1) Awesome concept and execution; 2) looks like you didn't turn on the crayon pedal during bass demo
Patrick Pretorius it was in the same loop as the POG
Please, please EHX make a stereo version of this pedal (2 returns for each pedal and stereo outputs) and expression pedal blend output like the GigRig Wetter box and the Musicom Lab Parallelizer. It would be absolutely awesome. Otherwise, the mono returns and output limit this pedal to mono effects (cool for blending distortions, fuzzes, overdrives), but not so useful for the fx loop with stereo time-based and modulation effects.
Considering that I literally just built a board with a tri-parallel circuit, I might need to pick this up pronto. Lol
That last jam was it
💜💜💜💜💜💜
Dear EHX can you run 3 of these into one with 9 effects going parallel without any issues
Two questions:
1. Is there any popping sound when switching channels in either mode?
2. If I have my delay pedal has trails will this switcher cut them off when I switch channels?
The Tri Parallel Mixer can be set up to keep delay and reverb tails when
disabling an FX loop channel or it can be set up to cut them off. From
the factory it is set up to cut off the reverb tails. Changing an FX
loop channel to allow for tails is easy to change through press and
holds on the footswitches. The software will remember the state of each
channel through power cycles. The manual explains this feature in the
BOTH, SEND, & RETURN MUTING MODES section.
EHX you just sold a pedal.
This is sensational!!!!
Could this be used to set up parallel signal paths to mix my clean Bass DI signal with the 2nd path thru pedalboard, amp, speaker & microphone...then feed this sound into my iphone for recording bass videos?
So u can mix all three loops and original dry signal into one? 4 into 1?? Right? Thnxx brother ❤
Hello, when it's "OFF" (all leds turned off) is it "TRUE BYPASS" or just shut down-no signal? If it is the first case ("TRUE BYPASS"), do "MASTER VOL" & "DRY VOL" work?
Thanks!
Does it make sense to use it in a fx loop of an amplifier?
So are the send and return levels active? Or is it just like a passive volume knob?
They are active
Does the phase knob effect the send signal or the return signal?
Ah, its in the manual. The send, as is logical!
When is this going to be available in the UK?
Very soon!
Interesting mixer, but how about an updated demo using the effects in series then parallel to really get to hear the difference. I'm new to using several effects together instead of a multi-effect pedal. If I'm understanding the concept correctly, each pedal is independant and not effected by the the other pedals when used in parallel?
When you run pedals in SERIES, your sound is affected in steps.
So example: you're hitting a Drive pedal first. The pedal takes your clean sound and distorts it, but then you go into a Reverb pedal. Your Reverb is seeing a distorted guitar sound. There is no way to undistort the signal going in, except to deactivate/disengage your Drive. That is Series.
In PARALLEL, your guitar signal goes to multiple pedals at the same time, and the outputs of both devices are blended together into one signal. So, you could run a Drive and Reverb in parallel, and the resulting sound would be a distorted guitar with no reverb blended with a clean guitar that has lots of reverb.
Make sense?
@@alexledford4747 Is SERIES even possible with this pedal or only PARALLEL and X-OR modes?
Love the approach and the functionalities. I'd like more options, more channels and smaller size, of course x)
I have a fender super reverb with no effects loop would it be good with that
Yes
Can I plug my iPad into one of the loops then and layer effects from apps like garageband or say amplitude. I have the connections
Sure I dont see why not with the right ins and outs from the iPad
What a great piece of kit! So glad I bought one!!
So can you put it's channels in serial mode (and not simultaneos) ? Like this: CH1 Clean amp, CH2 Marshall with pedal 1, CH3 Marshall with pedal 2 boosting pedal 1 ?
www.ehx.com/assets/instructions/tri-parallel-mixer.pdf
That's a trip........
So..
Would I be able to run all of my effects in series, and then put this mixer in the end of the chain via input switch , and then use it to send the fx to both guitar and synths in different channels via the send/return?
I already realized that it wouldnt work. The "amount" of fx would be the same for all of the instruments
No, you'd do that by connecting the guitar and synths to the returns of channels 1 and 2, and the output to the effects input. Now then, having the guitar and synth with the exact effects is not such a great idea. Unless you got two guys playing live and using the same effects at the same time it would be useless.
Can you use this to connect effects of 1 pedalboard into 2 amps fx loop?
Into the returns you could.
What about a Deluxe version with sends from 1 to 2&3, from 2 to 1&3, and from 3 to 1&2 ?!?!
Does this have soft footswitches and the ability to handle line inputs like the Switchblade Pro?
Yes!
@@EHX Sounds good. Thanks.
How do you activate the X OR Mode? Is it an internal dip switch?
Hold the ch1 and ch 2 footswitch together for about a sec. The leds start blinking. Unison blinking is the and mode. One after another is xor. To change the setting just press any of the footswitch. When you have the setting you want just hold any of the footswitch for about a sec until the leds stop blinking.
Three fuzz pedals in parallel do not sound like multi-tracked guitar.
can this be used distortion into delay.mixer straight into front of amp for old amps that don't have send a return.this has been a problem for ever.obversley if the amp is distorted then the delay is going into that it's going to sound bad.dis or overdrive pedal then delay into mixer.then in to front of amp.is it good for that????that would be great
Andy if your amp is distorted the effects will be distorted. No way around it unless you have an effects loop in the amp and run the pre distorted and the power amp clean.
But, will my reverb/delay tail get cut off when I switch to another loop? I assume it has to.
@@EHX SWEET! Thanks!
@@EHX You guys should probably advertise this feature.
Hell yeah, every hungry woman.....has been your place before. Sick little pedal
Is this good to have for amps with no effects loop
Yes if you place your effects in front of the amps input
Any chance of there being a 6 channel version?
Sorry Micah not at this time
That’s fine, I’m just gonna get 2 of these.
Could this be used as a synth mixer?
Yes
Why isn't there a normal toggle for the phase switch?
There is its a knob that switches
when stereo version??????????????
hello.
can somebody please explain to me, how this device works?
so I got one cable going to the guitar amp.
I got one cable going to the guitar.
I plugged 3 pedals into the loops (a boss sy1, a ehx pog 2 and a ehx synth 9)
all the pedals have power...and...nothing happens.
am I doing something wrong? did I push the wrong button.
I get no sound coming out of this pedal...
I already putt it back into .. like factory settings.
but still nothing happens.
no sound.
.
please help.
Please write the techs at info@ehx.com they can help you out.
