Bill always does such a fine job of showing what these pedals are capable of. Using examples from familiar tunes just shows how usable the sounds could be on gigs and his clear grasp of all the control features shows the possibilities built into the pedal. This isn't wasting my time watching some hack goofing for 20 minutes. I, for one, really appreciate that.
Imagine splitting your signal through A+B and sending the Bass9 to a bass amp and the other line to regular guitar pedalboard and amp for enhanced and powerful riffs and solos 🤘🤘🤘
Ehx...you need to make more fx boxes so the legendary Bill Ruppert can demo them. I've watched many guitarists demo products, Bill always catches the essence of a pedal by knowing what genres to apply. ❤Bill&EHX❤ Oh, by the way, the bass9 is in the mail!😎
Jaco and “Stuff like that” almost brought tears to my eyes. I’ve listened to 100s of gear videos and you’re so much better than anything I’ve seen before!
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!!!! You have no idea how madly I've needed this!!! I'm a live looper and have never felt like I could get the bass tone right. Bought a B9 tonight!
Just got mine yesterday, and I'm really pleased. I bought it for a standard bass sound, but I played for hours last night on the Bowed, Split, and Longhorn settings. Tons of fun.
FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this for 20 years and only got close a few times. I almost bought the TC Electronics Voice Live 3 for this feature only.....glad I waited! Great demo all around!
I'd love to hear this pedal with the split bass feature on someone playing a nice jazz electric guitar or jazz acoustic guitar (with either a steel string guitar or a nylon string guitar.
Cool Pedal, seems very useful. Love the bowed bass sound. I can think of lots of uses for this. I actually play bass quite a bit as well as guitar but this would be super handy during solo gigs i'm sure. Bravo!
Suggestions for SUPER EHX pedal Add one more rotary control and let it switch between different *9 pedals (or only have 2 initial pedals and allow people to buy the chip set for a more pedals and have them fit in slots like solid state memory cards. Sell the empty pedal and let people choose which cards to buy. Leave extra slots for future developments. Then make the MONSTER EHX, two of the SUPERs in one pedal so you can feed wet or dry signals to the 2nd stage. If you use this idea, just send me one SUPER as a thankyou, you can keep the rest of the profits. :-)
this idea could lead to something like the variax guitar but as a pedal :o lespaul sounds, strat , tele, rickenbacker, danelectro, single coil, p90, humbucker, hothumbucker, active humbucker, series, parallel, :o
Amazing sound. If you want realism, the Fender Precision Bass clone is a good setting to start with. It has a tone control designed to imitate the tone control on the Precision Bass. With a bit of treble, you'll instantly recognize the clean and clear sound. It makes it easy to play bass.
You can never replace a bass player but its great when you dont have one on call! I am sad to see bass players are not using it with a guitar so they can play bass and with a click double on guitar parts. That is the bass players revenge!
I put an ABY box in front my BASS9. "A" sees the BASS9 into a Boss RC1 into 2 Fender Rumble100's. "B" routes the guitar signal through to Traynor guitar amps. Can run just guitar , just bass , or both at same time.
DANG! the bowed and split modes sound great. Does the CTRL1 knob control range for the Split mode? Reminds me of the Boss OC3 poly mode, the range knob really helps you dial it in right, I'm hoping EHX implements that control as well. Now if only the 9 series had an option for preset saving/recalling....
Don't worry, your job is safe; the lead guitarist's ego just exploded, so he's too cool to play this gig now. Besides, I think EHX makes a guitar synth for bass too.
As a musician who is more on the weird side of the spectrum, I wonder how this pedal would work with unpitched material or material with complex frequency content, such as a recording of birdsong (it definitely works well with Birdland), sounds of a busy street or the output of a modulated complex oscillator.
Hi EHX, this is a very unique pedal, specialy for the Split Bass mode (7). I use a baritone guitar in a 2 piece band and we play some heavy stuff. So I am in a need of something that could help me filling the bass sounds while playing guitar. Would bass 9 work fine when playing chords in Split Mode, in a dual amp setup? Fine for me would be not getting muddy when playing multiple notes. Thanks!
Hey EHX, I saw this thing on a sweetwater catalog and thought It was a bass pedal. I know it isn't, but could you use it for a bass anyway? I feel like it would still give you a lot of cool tones.
I got the pedal and i love it but a question....how can i send just the bass sound to a bass amp and no hear the unprocessed sound on the bass sound when the pedal is switch off??? Actually i am not able....while the dry is connected to my guitar amp the effect is linked direct to mixer but when the effect is switch off i can still hear on the mixer channel the untreated signal. please help
Fabrizio inside there is a tiny switch next to the foot switch to make it operate as you wish. if you still have an issue please contact the techs at info@ehx.com
The gentleman that does these demos is truly a great musician.

Still waiting for Guitar9 to use with my bass
I actually need one to go with my Bass VI. It would be hella cool!

What's next? Drums? Pretty soon you're going to see a stage full of just guitarists.
Imagine splitting your signal through A+B and sending the Bass9 to a bass amp and the other line to regular guitar pedalboard and amp for enhanced and powerful riffs and solos 🤘🤘🤘
Hats off to both EHX for another gem of a pedal, and to Bill for well... just being Bill.

Dammit, stop making new pedals every two minutes .. my wife is going to divorce me!
p.s. Looks like I'll be getting another pedal
Yup ... I can relate.
Last time I counted, it was over 50 ... picked up a few since then.
The pedal won't leave you unless she takes it.
You need to do a guitar9 pedal for every bassist that got rid of their guitarist
Lol

The best reviews on the net ever. Thank you Bill!
You had me at "1. Precision"
another amazing pedal from Electro-Harmonix.... INCONCEIVABLE!
Great Demo, wonderful pedal, long overdue... Especially enjoyed the unexpected Birdland and Dance of Maya excerpts...
I'm so happy with mine, worth it just for the split bass in a three piece band with keys and synth 😈
Great playing to showcase the versatility of what this pedal can do.... But I can't believe I didn't hear a Seinfeld scene intro.
I have one -it works well. Mr. Ruppert, you are one fine fine player !
Always love your demos! This pedal though , as a guitarist and bassist, this blows my mind ! The sound is amazing
Fantastic! I swear I've been submitting this as a new product idea on EHX' site and during product registration for quite a while.
Superb, Bill! Thanks. Amazing pedal, wonderful playing.
Thank you Allan!
Great salesman this guy... such good technique too. Super knowledgeable on styles. Worth watching just to pinch ideas.
Thank you Chris!
Love the 9 series peddles ! And I’m a violinist ! This one is next for the board !!
Bill Ruppert always does a great job. I'm waiting for a pedal for bass players!
Thank you-so cool, like all your products I’ve seen so far.
I wish they would make one with just the precision in a smaller pedal. My board is packed.

I was hoping this was a 9 pedal made for an actual bass but its still badassss
Great playing!
This thing is magical AF! take my money!!!
I'd love to hear this pedal with the split bass feature on someone playing a nice jazz electric guitar or jazz acoustic guitar (with either a steel string guitar or a nylon string guitar.
I thought I wouldn’t like this pedal...now I want it!!!
I wish you’d demo this with a Bass also. Can’t seem to find much on UA-cam yet.
Its designed for guitar to sound like a bass.
Its not designed for a bass. It would be to low.
Oh ok, that does make sense :). I would like my fretted bass to sound like a fretless sometimes.
i just watch these for Bill now............i want all these pedals but 5th video in row? at this point is to listen to Bill, mmm mmm!
As a Bass player, I hate this pedal, but I like the review 😎
Ughh i can finally get rid of the octave pedal, didnt know this was out there! Stoked
What was the small guitar you were playing at 4:38? It's beautiful.
A Lap Axe guitar Chris
Awesome! I love playing bass on guitar. Just ordered this pedal and eagerly waiting for it to arrive :D btw: awesome playing of Bill too !
Bass 9 e Mel 9, vão ser a combinação perfeita pra mim. Grandes pedais !!
Spectacular. Gonna purchase ASAP.
The weather report riff tho!

Wow! I've been looking for a pedal like this for years. I was gonna buy a Baritone guitar, but not now. Thanks.
Doesn’t matter the video.... Bill Ruppert rocks...

How does the algorithm handle guitars that are already tuned down?
Great all the way down through the bass
I'll have to try this. I've been disappointed in every other G2B option I've ever tried. Hoping this one is actually better.
Its the best...

Dat split bass tho!
so this can basically turn your guitar into a baritone right?
Yes!
@@EHXnice thx
jack white with this, and meg on drums - take my money
This one would really benefit from a way to turn the octave off, to just change the articulation if you're a bassist.
I need a effects unit for bass guitar that will give me octave up and down and fretless sounds can you help me? This is so dope.
This is gonna fly off the shelves.
That opening tho! Went from bassist rocking out to mortal Kombat fatality in no time lol
Have you tried it with an electro-acoustic? - I'm already sold on the pedal anyway. It's awesome :-)
EHX, as a Bass player, I feel attacked by this pedal. I'm irreplaceable on a gig lol jk. Seriously though, this is an interesting pedal.

@@iamthecaveman7756 thinking of buying one of these and pairing it with an ABY like you. Which ABY pedal do you use?

Well, there goes my job.
Don't worry, your job is safe; the lead guitarist's ego just exploded, so he's too cool to play this gig now. Besides, I think EHX makes a guitar synth for bass too.
So ideally, would you want to play guitar through a bass amp for the "full" effect? Or would you still get amazing sounds from a guitar amp?
This was recorded through a guitar amp...but if you need a lot of volume a bass amp is great.
As a musician who is more on the weird side of the spectrum, I wonder how this pedal would work with unpitched material or material with complex frequency content, such as a recording of birdsong (it definitely works well with Birdland), sounds of a busy street or the output of a modulated complex oscillator.
12:13 i thought Bill was going to riff on Comedown 🤩
Love this
Can I use this for my Bass guitar ? I am particularly interested in the fretless and cello sounds
You can BUT it will put your bass an octave lower.......
EHX ok thanks. Do you have such an instrument for the bass guitar ? I need to get the fretless effects. Yours are the best I have heard
Hi EHX, this is a very unique pedal, specialy for the Split Bass mode (7). I use a baritone guitar in a 2 piece band and we play some heavy stuff. Hey EHX, I saw this thing on a sweetwater catalog and thought It was a bass pedal. I know it isn't, but could you use it for a bass anyway? I feel like it would still give you a lot of cool tones.
Yes it works but will make the bass very very low!!!!
Now only a horn section-in-a-box and a grand piano-in-a-box so I never have to go out again.... nice video anyway!
Mel9, B9, C9, Synth9.
I play a nylon string guitar. Will it work this nylon string electric guitars?
Yes
great love it I love the Mel 9 exc creative pedals I can create my master piece album and b be a youtube star
Is there a way to keep using the effects but still stay on the guitars standard tuning?
No It drops the guitar one and two octaves below.
What's the highest note it can track
Way past the 24th fret
How would it work for an actual bass? I'm learning bass and I'm also insane apparently.
It is an octave too low for bass. It is to take guitar down to the bass range.
EHX - Question? Can i play bass cleff midi piano through it an get realistic bass tone?
It would work if you played up in the guitar range. For it to sound like a Bass guitar it is best played with a 6 string guitar.
What happens if I play with Bass 9 and distortion pedal on? Do i hear bass or guitar distorted?
It will depend on where you place the BASS9 and distortion pedals in your signal.
@@EHX Such a great thing! Thanks a lot.
this sounds very similar to the pog or pitch fork setted 1 octave down
The Bass9 has a better sound , less latency (faster response) and better dynamics than the POG and Pitch fork when used down the octave.
This pedal are bad for amp guitar ? I mean its like playing a bass in the guitar amp (?) Pd: nice pedal, i need this.
No But if you want to play loud a bass amp is best. other wise at regular volumes a guitar amp is fine.
Even if it just did one or two things really well, it rates as a buy. But dang!
I wonder, if you plugged an actual bass into this pedal, would it sound even an octave lower than that? Inquiring minds want to know!
Yes it would drop the bass one and two octaves. Its designed for guitar and its range.
If you plug a Rickenbacker into the Precision setting will it sound like a P-Bass?
A Rickenbacker guitar yes
Is it safe to play through a standard tube amp?
yes if you want to play real loud a big bass amp would be best. But regular volume is fine
Which patches can one only play one note at a time?
My bassist is starting to suspect 😬
he's not a real bass player then
I’ve been looking for something just like this, when is it available?
Next week!
