Dudes, you have no idea how much I need this. My bands bass player just randomly up and quit last week and I found this video a week later? This is fate
Bill always does such a fine job of showing what these pedals are capable of. Using examples from familiar tunes just shows how usable the sounds could be on gigs and his clear grasp of all the control features shows the possibilities built into the pedal. This isn't wasting my time watching some hack goofing for 20 minutes. I, for one, really appreciate that.
The only thing missing, IMO, is portamento for the synth sounds. Maybe it's not possible for guitar without MIDI. But yeah, an all-in-one box would be epic.
Imagine splitting your signal through A+B and sending the Bass9 to a bass amp and the other line to regular guitar pedalboard and amp for enhanced and powerful riffs and solos 🤘🤘🤘
Jaco and “Stuff like that” almost brought tears to my eyes. I’ve listened to 100s of gear videos and you’re so much better than anything I’ve seen before!
I think one thing that this pedal could use is an octave off (!) switch to use with bass. So that your bass can emulate all of those other basses without playing an octave down.
Ehx...you need to make more fx boxes so the legendary Bill Ruppert can demo them. I've watched many guitarists demo products, Bill always catches the essence of a pedal by knowing what genres to apply. ❤Bill&EHX❤ Oh, by the way, the bass9 is in the mail!😎
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!!!! You have no idea how madly I've needed this!!! I'm a live looper and have never felt like I could get the bass tone right. Bought a B9 tonight!
I will watch Anything by: Bill Ruppert. I still Loose my mind, over his rendition of Led Zeppelin's No Quarter. EHX is so innovative and Bill is just amazing.
I have a lot off basses so I am waiting for a "bass to guitar" pedal. Can't wait to have a Telecaster, Stratocaster and a Les Paul sound from my Jazz bass...
Wow - this simply is not your grandfather or father's Electro-Harmonix company! As what the evil geniuses over there are now doing is pure alchemy! Such well-thought-out and useful effects. Especially for guitarists multitracking their own compositions, this pedal has a really nice range of exceptionally useful and unique sounds!
I am seeking a mod pedal for my bass, but with this pedal, I can simply use one of my guitars. Thanks, Bill Rupert; you are indeed, the pedal demo King!
Just got mine yesterday, and I'm really pleased. I bought it for a standard bass sound, but I played for hours last night on the Bowed, Split, and Longhorn settings. Tons of fun.
Just ordered this. Figured I ain't died from Covid yet, and don't want to risk trying out / touching a bunch of bass guitars at Guitar Center. EHX should develop an acoustic 9 pedal. The guitars should be hollow body, semi hollow, banjo, mandolin, ukelele, dreadnought, parlor, resonator, 12 sting, and others I can't think of. For tuning it should have a knob to instantly change tuning too, right on the pedal. Like a click knob. I like the Line 6 Variax models which "model" so many models, but I don't want another axe, I love the ones I have, just another pedal please.
A couple ways to reach this goal.Use a pitch fork up 1 octave first then go into this pedal. Hey maybe get a 4 string guitar ..you could remove the 2 unwanted high strings.Any cheap lightweight electric guitar would work. If you wanted to really spend more effort you could modify a 6 string electric with a wider nut to fit 4 strings like a baritone up a and change the bridge....Wait try a electric. Baritone uke and voila the is pedal works giving you all the bass sounds plus the uke baritone if wanted for extra or by pass the uke baritone and have only these bass sounds. Maybe these crazy ideas will help you come up with what you want.God bless you bass player...
Some of these settings I'd probably never use but I think I'm gonna get this just for the split bass setting and for "downtuned" metal riffs. Also gotta say this video has some of the best playing I've ever seen in a pedal demo. Bravo.
Back in the day, I experimented with one of my 5 string basses: removing the B and E strings from the bottom end and adding a C and F string to the top of a 34" scale bass neck. I loved it for what is was: a tenor 5 string bass. At times, however, I missed not having the original low end, but I didn't want to negotiate the massive width of a 6 or 7 string bass. I tried the available octave dividers, but...they were glitchy and synthetic sounding...great for certain applications (Pino Paladino) ...but not so good for most. Man....I could have used something like this then. What could have been. Great product, and if I ever get the band back together, so to speak, this would be my first purchase.
Damn this pedal just gave me random chills. Gotta gave one in my life ASAP. I wonder how it sounds combined with other effects like fuzz, distortion, reverb?
EH!!!!!! I LOVE THE 9 SERIES!!!!!!!! For home recording I've got all the keyboards and bass I need in my 🎸. No need to explain, nope like this, instead I can commit all the way I want it to sound. There will be NO END to my megolomania! I AM EVERYTHING!!!!!!!
When it will be on the shelves? I am planning to play as one man band and this pedal will help A LOT to emulate the bass signal in my rig. Awesome pedal!!!
Really good demo... tasteful playing and great choice of songs to demonstrate the capabilities of this amazing pedal! I've put it on my wish list!! One man band here I come! :)
I'd love to hear this pedal with the split bass feature on someone playing a nice jazz electric guitar or jazz acoustic guitar (with either a steel string guitar or a nylon string guitar.
Cool Pedal, seems very useful. Love the bowed bass sound. I can think of lots of uses for this. I actually play bass quite a bit as well as guitar but this would be super handy during solo gigs i'm sure. Bravo!
FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this for 20 years and only got close a few times. I almost bought the TC Electronics Voice Live 3 for this feature only.....glad I waited! Great demo all around!
Our bassist hasn't talked to me since i bought this pedal
You're better off dawg🤘😎
Hahahaha! At least you don’t have to argue about him being too loud anymore
LOL🤗
ahahah "out of my freqs!"
👍😂😂😂
Bill Ruppert’s video demos are the best!
Dudes, you have no idea how much I need this. My bands bass player just randomly up and quit last week and I found this video a week later? This is fate
Still waiting for Guitar9 to use with my bass
I actually need one to go with my Bass VI. It would be hella cool!
I need a Drum9 to convert my drumset into an Apache Helicopter
The gentleman that does these demos is truly a great musician.
Corbin Dallas Bill Rupert is a legendary session player
@@spectre5560 Didn't know him before these EHX demos but it's not difficult at all to believe in what you say, he's a killer, holy shit...
Bill Ruppert is better at playing bass on a guitar than I am at playing bass on a bass. Tip of the hat.
Bill always does such a fine job of showing what these pedals are capable of. EHX needs an all-in-one box for these 9 series pedals
The only thing missing, IMO, is portamento for the synth sounds. Maybe it's not possible for guitar without MIDI. But yeah, an all-in-one box would be epic.
I had to comment just so say how awesome this guy is at all of the product demos he does for you guys.
Imagine splitting your signal through A+B and sending the Bass9 to a bass amp and the other line to regular guitar pedalboard and amp for enhanced and powerful riffs and solos 🤘🤘🤘
Hats off to both EHX for another gem of a pedal, and to Bill for well... just being Bill.
Not many guitar players are able to play like a bass player. Kudos to this guitarists musicianship.
What's next? Drums? Pretty soon you're going to see a stage full of just guitarists.
Selling all my basses now... Man this is a dream pedal for me.
I love Bill Ruppert playing. I could watch all his videos all day on repeat just playing crazy stuff through all EHX pedals….
Same here.
This is one of those pedals you have been looking for your whole life. Trust me.
As a six string bass player i totally agree with this great idea. EHX please make this happen. Probably will increase sales among bass players a lot!
Ehx...you need to make more fx boxes so the legendary Bill Ruppert can demo them. I've watched many guitarists demo products, Bill always catches the essence of a pedal by knowing what genres to apply.
❤Bill&EHX❤
Oh, by the way, the bass9 is in the mail!😎
Here I am, a year and a day after I got sold by this video... One of the most interesting pedals I've owned!
Thanks for dropping by again Wallace!
Sounds awesome. Now you just need to make a GUITAR9 to make a bass sound like a guitar. I know I would buy such a pedal without thinking twice.
I have a lot off basses so I am waiting for a "bass to guitar" pedal. Can't wait to have a Telecaster, Stratocaster and a Les Paul sound from my Jazz bass...
thats illegal
@@bathroom681 And so is this Bass9 pedal
Fuck yeah.
Just put the bass into the pedal out and the pedal in to the amp!
Guitar in bass out ... just reverse it!
What about a EQ pedal? Or maybe EHX knockout?
Ridiculously good playing there Bill.
Wow - this simply is not your grandfather or father's Electro-Harmonix company! As what the evil geniuses over there are now doing is pure alchemy! Such well-thought-out and useful effects. Man, I just stopped here randomly and ended up watching the entire video twice - once for the pedal demo, and again for the playing! 💯
That slit bass setting is aweseom!
The synth and cello part sounded amazing! Another ehx pedal I really want, have only been able to afford one so far

An Acoustic9 sounds like a fantastic idea! A Sitar or erhu could also be cool, since they already made a sitar pedal.
@@Rob_B_93 Would like a "sanshin" from Okinawa.
This is a very good pedal. I've been waiting for this for a long time. Bill Rupert makes the best video samples in the pedal market.
You need to do a guitar9 pedal for every bassist that got rid of their guitarist
Lol
The best reviews on the net ever. Thank you Bill!
I wish their was a bass input that doesn’t drop it an octave. Turning your electric into an upright for a song sounds useful
you mean a cello but tuned to 4ths?
A couple ways to reach this goal.Use a pitch fork up 1 octave first then go into this pedal.

I need this...stunning playing by the way Bill, one of the best demo videos I've ever seen!
I can't believe this has been out for three years.
Great Demo, wonderful pedal, long overdue... Especially enjoyed the unexpected Birdland and Dance of Maya excerpts...
I have one -it works well. Mr. Ruppert, you are one fine fine player !
I'm so happy with mine, worth it just for the split bass in a three piece band with keys and synth 😈
Always love your demos! This pedal though , as a guitarist and bassist, this blows my mind ! The sound is amazing
Brilliant.... Bill you sell it well.
Dammit, stop making new pedals every two minutes .. my wife is going to divorce me!
p.s. Looks like I'll be getting another pedal
Yup ... I can relate.
Last time I counted, it was over 50 ... picked up a few since then.
The pedal won't leave you unless she takes it.
Another kick ASS demo, Bill!
You had me at "1. Precision"
another amazing pedal from Electro-Harmonix.... INCONCEIVABLE!
Another top demo from Bill
Some of these settings I'd probably never use but I think I'm gonna get this just for the split bass setting and for "downtuned" metal riffs. Also gotta say this video has some of the best playing I've ever seen in a pedal demo. Bravo.
Wow! I could hear this at Church for the upbeat songs we play and a couple of funky styles added for punch (Jump blues, Swing, little Latin too)
Great salesman this guy... such good technique too. Super knowledgeable on styles. Worth watching just to pinch ideas.
Thank you Chris!
Fantastic! I swear I've been submitting this as a new product idea on EHX' site and during product registration for quite a while.
Great playing to showcase the versatility of what this pedal can do.... But I can't believe I didn't hear a Seinfeld scene intro.
Bill nailed the demo, again. Epic work sir.
Love the 9 series peddles ! And I’m a violinist ! This one is next for the board !!

I would really like to see one of these with a selection of acoustic & nylon string guitars.
I’m a simple man. I hear Bill Ruppert, I press like 👍

That "Wichita Lineman" quote made me so happy. That was a great moment in 6 string bass/pop music history.
Superb, Bill! Thanks. Amazing pedal, wonderful playing.
Thank you Allan!
EHX releases a new 9 series pedal.
My wallet: *NEIN!*
Thank you-so cool, like all your products I’ve seen so far.
Ughh i can finally get rid of the octave pedal, didnt know this was out there! Stoked
What about a Guitar 9, that turns a bass into a guitar?
I am waiting for Awesome9 pedal which will turn my crappy playing into something awesome
coming from marketplace, checked this out. thx for your work.
So.. the bassist "you know what's going on here..?"
You are fired !! 😂
lmao
At 11:25 you kick in with The Dance Of Maya :)
Bill Ruppert always does a great job. I'm waiting for a pedal for bass players!
I'm waiting for a video with Bass9 Bass Machine on actual bass ;)
Wow, thanks for the fantastic Jaco-like playing! Great samples and performances 🤟
Damn this pedal just gave me random chills. Gotta gave one in my life ASAP. I wonder how it sounds combined with other effects like fuzz, distortion, reverb?
Just guessing but probably sounds the same only fuzzy, distorted and reverby...
Upgrade your 9er series with a “MIDI out “ connector, please! Bill R: perfect performer, best in class!
I agree! All these 9 series pedals would be so much more useful with MIDI!
It's general for so many EHX pedals with tons of different sounds. How are we even supposed to remember the good settings?
Bill makes this pedal sound really coool!!
Fantastic Bill Ruppert !
Please make a multi9
Multi45.
Waiting for the Acoustic Machine
cool idea!
EHX Holy crap you responded! I think an Acoustic pedal wouldn’t be a bad idea. Great playing as always, Bill!
If you are serious about an acoustic machine, I will hold off on getting a Zoom AC2. Great demo.
Imagine if we got a pedal with all of the 9 series pedals together.
🤔 EHX Tri-Parallel Mixer can blend them in
parallel instead of series... amazing pedal!
Man you don't need a bass anymore just use this effect then you playing bass fantastic video thanks very much
David Swanson I cry.
Great playing!
I wish you’d demo this with a Bass also. Can’t seem to find much on UA-cam yet.
Its designed for guitar to sound like a bass.
Its not designed for a bass. It would be to low.
Oh ok, that does make sense :). I would like my fretted bass to sound like a fretless sometimes.
“Halfway through I’ll turn up the sub control to bring down the mudflaps”. 😆 #SpinalTap
Great demo...had one ordered before the end of the video!
This pedal sounds amazing
Bill, we’ll done, LOVED the Weather Report riffs..!!
When it will be on the shelves? I am planning to play as one man band and this pedal will help A LOT to emulate the bass signal in my rig. Awesome pedal!!!
Loo they should be shipping next week
Incrível essa demonstração, Bill, vc é o cara !!
i was sold with that mahavishnu riff, superb demo as usual!
Does this pedal come with a parting gift for the bass player?
I wish they would make one with just the precision in a smaller pedal. My board is packed.
I thought I wouldn’t like this pedal...now I want it!!!
That helps, especially since I bought an RG-550PN at the start of the year. :). Thanks
Awesome! I love playing bass on guitar. Just ordered this pedal and eagerly waiting for it to arrive :D btw: awesome playing of Bill too !
After carefully watching this review, I've decided to hire the guitarist.
Cool Pedal, seems very useful. Love the bowed bass sound. I can think of lots of uses for this. I actually play bass quite a bit as well as guitar but this would be super handy during solo gigs i'm sure. Bravo!
I have one of these for my looping and it’s brilliant
8:46 was originally done with 12 string bass. sounds very close
At 8:46 some of the dry was turned up so it is like a 12 string bass
FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this for 20 years and only got close a few times. I almost bought the TC Electronics Voice Live 3 for this feature only.....glad I waited! Great demo all around!
