Great video, I’ve used these over the years, I’ve bought these stations for my boys as they were able to start being more self sufficient in the fishing growth, so I just bought another for my son and found out when I got home Berkeley doesn’t supply the line stripper anymore it’s a separate cost ! It’s not a all in one station anymore, so I checked one line to see what the cost was and it was the almost the as the station ! That was very disappointing
Well that’s not good, I guess their trying to make more money be splitting them up. I do appreciate you following along with me and sending in a comment!
Please heep the setup instructions when doing a spinning reel. You must reposition the support shaft for a spinning configuration and use the supplied grommet and only 1 spring. Spooling up a spinner the way you demonstrated will cause so much line twist that you may have to strip and re spool or drag behind your boat for a while.
Bull butter I use it the same way he demonstrated on the video I never had an issue with line twist on my spinning reels. I've had mine since 03 and no issues
Can I make a suggestion when putting braided line on? I always use a guesstimate of about 10-15 yards of 20 lb mono for backing then I tie a blood knot to join the braid and the mono together then fill my spool until it's about an 1/8 of an inch from the top of the spool.
I am going to buy this later today. Thank you for the review; not sure I would use braid to teach a kid to use a bait castor. I would recommend mono. It is easier to get birds nest out and cheaper if you need to strip it and put new line on the reel.
Nice, thanks for watching and dropping me a comment!! It’s nice to have a system for putting on line more. Yea I would agree but he has grown up fishing with Braid on my reels and loves to target Northern Pike so it’s nice to have the extra durability.
Almost bought this from Bass Pro shop but now that ive seen how this is used on a spinning reel. I would just stick to my $6 spooler i bought from Amazon since the orrientation is the same. Thank you for the review! This helped answer the questions I have about this product
@@6rantfishing rotate the rod holding the spool of line 90deg. The line should coil off of the spool and onto the reel in the same direction to avoid twist. U have to provide tension on the line directly with fingers, but it works sooooo much better
@@patricks3484 You want it coming off counter clockwise. Thats the same as having it come over the top, the way he had it in the video. Professional fisherman all agree thats the correct way
Nice instructional video! So the line always comes off the top of the spool, regardless of spinning or baitcasting reels? I also take the reel when it has new line on it and put it in warm water for 5 minutes. Helps reduce larger memory the spool has and encourages new memory size of the reel.
Line should come from bottom for spinning reels and the top for baitcasters so you have less problems with line memory he doesn’t mention it but is the proper way
Your presentation is very educational and extremely helpful. Thank you. When I tried it, somehow, the line did not come on my reel evenly, it all gathered in the front section of the reel. Can you tell me what I did wrong? Thank you again. (I used 20lb braided line)
@@tiredaxeoutdoors4579 I am using Yo-Zuri Braided, 10lb line. The reel is a very small reel I bought 7 years ago (Never used) called (Ready2Fish), 10lb/80Yard. For some reason, The lines are always stay in the front of the reel, not evenly distributed. I tried with high tension, medium tension. Both resulted the same. Thank you again
petertien6 Interesting, I’m assuming it’s a spinning reel right? Is the spool moving up and down freely and all the way? I honestly haven’t seen that before so I’ve really curious what would cause that the happen..
Most reels, as least quality ones, have shims (thin washers) you can add, or subtract, from the main shaft. Adding washers increases line lay to the base of the spool, which is what you need. If they are not supplied just find your own, they only need to be thin, I've made them from plastic.
While spooling the spinning reel you said; see...no line twist. That's because there was tension on the line. If you loosened the tension you would have seen the twisting or coiling of the line. Wasted your money. You could have used the pencil in spooi method for both reels with same results. You get the picture?
Sorry for the delayed response, I just found a handful of comments in the needs “review” folder! 😬 Ya know I’ve noticed that as well, it just slides on the rubber wheel. I’ve be thinking of playing with it to see if there is an easy mod.
You don't know how to spool line, you have seriously under-filled the spool, and your son's casting will suffer as a result. Perhaps wouldn't matter for heavier lures, but he will struggle with lighter ones.
I appreciate you commenting on my video and I’m always looking for tips and tricks to do things better. However this reel is about 15 years old and will be the first time my son uses a bait caster. Didn’t figure I needed to fill the spool 100% as he’s using it for practice. That’s also why I used cheap line rather than our normal Power Pro. Thanks again for commenting and I hope you have a great day man!

Awesome video I didn't even know that tool was a line sriper and it takes batteries WOW!!!
Thanks for sending me a comment!! It’s crazy how simple this makes things.
Would appreciate if you showed how to install the clamping bracket into the mounting pedestal.
Nice review Zack. I bought a little different version of the Berkley Spooler a few weeks back. So far so good for me too!
Ryan Burton Hey thanks Ryan! Yea when you got yours I had to get one!
Excellent I need one now!

‘t the spool supposed to be delievering the line below the reel so as to install counterclockwise??

Tip, works much better if bucket is on floor!
Wrong! For the spinning reel the line should come from the bottom of the spool, not from the top.
What does flipping it to the bottom do?

Biggest problem is no line counter. You have no idea how much line your putting on. Come on Berkeley figure it out
