I don't think that's right. Not telling them is terrible advice. Being honest will bring you peace. It will be so much easier to move on, knowing that you spoke your truth. There is no "perfect moment." Just choose a day and do it, preferably in a phone convo. No matter the outcome, remember that what they say next is a reflection on them and not on you. Whenever someone tells you they like you, it is one of the best compliments anyone can ever receive, even if it isn't reciprocated. You can just say something like "I am not saying this to hurt your relationship in any way, and I respect your feelings, but I thought you should know that I think you're an amazing person and if you were single, I would've loved to have dated you. I wish you all the best." Something like that. After that, you can get back to your life and you will never again be bothered by any "what ifs?"

Whether it’s “respectful” or not depends on who the person is you’re telling. She may feel it is. Someone else may feel it isn’t. Plus it’s not like you’re forcing yourself on them..
All I did was confess my feelings just to hope to let it go because all this time I thought she was single until I saw a post on her Instagram if I got a guy. When I told her I would hope that she would change your mind but she said she understood and she still wanted to be friends. But honestly I wish you would have been honest with me and if she really didn't like me and said I gave me her number and acting like she liked me she could have just told me that she wouldn't interested or had a boyfriend. Because I literally thought she liked me till I found out another guy was talking to her
I used to use that excuse as well because I thought that that was nicer than saying flat out no. I think she maybe was trying to let you down in a nice way but that backfired since you knew the truth. Imo I’d just take it as a rejection and move on. Sorry that that happened to you!

If you used to like them but you don’t like them anymore, then I wouldn’t tell them (especially if they’re dating someone). That’s just my opinion though, I’m not sure what the nuisances of your situation are. Good luck!

I feel by me telling him and explaining that my previous messages were because I liked him cause I think they were quite vague. i'm hoping that it will bring me closure and I can move on for good, with out this hanging over me?

TeaLeafNeeka it depends on there intentions, if there saying it in a way that they used to like him and have know intentions of doing anything it’s just to come clean and perhaps laugh about it. Then that should be ok

I feel like I have a weight lifted off my shoulders and can move on properly. His response was really lovely but I know other people may not have as nice a response.

What do you do if she says " i have a boyfriend " even if she doesn't have one, like it hurts when you know the truth but she makes an excuse?
