    Had the same noise. I changed every parts I could to eliminate the problem. At first I also thought it was coming from a broken caliper pin. The noise came 2 days after I changed it. Then I swapped brake discs on both side because if it is, the noise should have been transferred from the side that came the noise. I finally eliminated the noise by fixing the brake disc dust guard. The dust guard was a bit dented which caused vibration to the brake caliper only when braking.

    Hi Lou! I’m getting the same noise when I press slightly on break and the noise stops when I press hard on the break. What was strange the noise went away after a carwash then came back again a day later. When I went to my car dealer we went for a test drive to check the problem and of course there was no noise… the mechanic checked the breaks and said the noise I hear is because I don’t drive much and there is a rust build up… After watching you video I’m sure the noise issue is what you discovered.

    After installing new rear end rotors I took the car for a drive to get them good and hot. At 60 mph I hit the brakes, and repeated it 10 times. When I was done and drove home, I braked at a turn and there was this really loud humming noise. However it sounded like it came from the front, not the rear. Could it be a temporary thing because of the hard brakes I did, or do I need to do something with the rotor in case it's been polished by the brake pad? The car stops fine and all, and the sound later is no consistent. Sometimes it makes sound and others not, but when it does, the sound get's louder by pressing the brakes harder. Would love if you have any feedback on this :)

    • @LouTrottier
      @LouTrottier  4 роки тому +1

      If you only did rear brakes and you are sure the noise is coming from the front I would think it is temporary ur to the hard braking.

    I hear clanking kind of like that; though, I swear that it only began after I went in to remove the calipers / bracket / brake pads / rotors, to replace the sway bar end links. Could I have re-seated something incorrectly? I've yet to take the car for a drive-I simply rotated the tire while the front end was up on jack stands. I wonder if the brake pistons just need some pumping so that they reset(?)

    • @LouTrottier

    Hey when i press the brakes hard on my car the noise the tires or the brakes make is strange . I am not too sure what makes the noise but it's the same noise as when you lock up the tires on some gravel ground it does that "grrrrrrrrrrr" until it stops and the brakes are less effective almost feels like the car is braking hard but not effective enough . Hi Lou. I installed new front brakes in September. Pads and Rotors. I greased all areas as recommended, slider pins with silicone grease, copper antiseize on the ears and backside of the pads. Now that it is winter every morning I get this scrapping noise. Like the caliper is not releasing the pad fast enough. I reapplied antiseize on backside of pads and ears and it works for about a week but I find that the heat friction melts away the antiseize so its basically bare metal against bare metal. Any ideas on how to get rid of that noise. Noise also happens sometimes as I am braking. Summer time is never an issue as the brakes don't make any noise. Only during cold months

    • @LouTrottier
      @LouTrottier  3 роки тому

      That’s a weird one. It’s possible that the noise is coming from the backing plates.

    Okay, so here’s my issue: 2003 Cadillac Seville pulls LEFT when I brake moderately hard(no pull when I brake in a controlled way). And intermittently, I hear a very loud noise(almost sounds like air in a pipe, or when you blow into a beer bottle near the top-but VERY loud) on the RIGHT side of the car. Any ideas?
    I see “squeal” and “hiss” as problem brake sounds, but my sound is lower pitched than a squeal. Think about it like that sound that you get when turning on water and there’s air in the system.

      great video. The noise is hard to hear because of the wind noise but it sounds like it changes with wheel speed, so that means it is a rotational noise. I move on upto a speed and then break gently(not hard breaking). Then I hear some "tik tik tik" or "tak tak tak" noise as the car stops. And by the time the car stops it sounds like something scratching on the breaks. This sound becomes like a tak tak noise once on the move and breaking from speed. The interesting part is , the sound does not come the first 5 to 10 mins of the drive as if it heats up and then the sound comes.

It feels like break pedal depresses easily without resistance when that noise is heard. Im not sure if thats true, because the amount of breaking is very little. At a very slow speed, it's actually a double creak sound (not knocking) creak-creak ------ creak-creak ------- creak-creak. Talked to a friend who thought for sure it was a bushing and I thought he was right until I saw this video. But why so abruptly?
