- Our New Wood-Mizer LX150 Sawmill Is Here! The foundation preparation is completed and ready to install the LX150 track. Wood-Mizer has been a great company to work with and the quality seems to be something they take serious. Most of the framework is very heavy duty for portable bandsaw mills. Hi Richard. I don't know who is happier, you or me, but I'm guessing it's you. I am sitting here watching and wishing it was me setting up my sawmill. lol. Seriously, I am so happy for you to get this mill. I am so excited to see you cut your first log with it. If I were a younger man I would be looking for a piece of mountain land and be doing the same thing you are doing. You are a blessed man for sure. Thank you for another video. See you buddy.
Wow, thank you. We are really excited about being able to do a lot more with this new sawmill. It’s very exciting when you upgrade to something you didn’t have. We’re looking forward to being able to mill the first log.
The sawmill is finally here your back in business Richard
Yea sir. Yahoo
Glad to see your sawmill arrived. That things is a UNIT! Always enjoy watching your projects, and the updates you make around the homestead. Keep up the great work!
Thanks ! We appreciate the kind words !!
Congrats Richard, this is a real beautiful sawmill ! Lot of nice jobs to come !
Thank you very much! Yes hopefully many future projects
So looking forward to seeing what you build from your own produced lumber from your beautiful new mill.
You and me both! The old one built everything here so the new one has a lot of catching up to do, lol
nice Richard,
Thanks Nathan. Looking forward to the first log!!
Happy Days are here again !! Good to see what all you folks did to set the bed for the saw and get it perfect for the Saw Head to be installed. It was awesome. Now to see it set up and running in the next video. Stay safe and keep up the great videos and the fun you have around there. Fred.
I’ll tell you what I’m about as happy as a pig and slop. It’s nice to be able to upgrade and have a lot of functions that are automatic. I would hate to go to auto ready to where I just sit back and watch the mill run on its own. I don’t think anybody wants to watch that. It’s got to be exciting and have some labor involved somewhere I think to make a good video. Anyway, yes, we’re really excited and look forward to putting the first log on the Mill and seeing what kind of lumber it it’ll turn out.
@@SmokyMountainOutpost We are waiting to see it in operation and how everyone does working to go from a tree to milled lumber. It'll be awesome.
Looking good 👍🏴
Thanks Kevin. Hope to be milling lumber this week
Love what you're doing . A little suggestion - I'd build an overhead hoist or crane mechanism for the larger more unruly log where you need a little help. Your timber frame should handle it. It might come in handier than extensions for your tractor's forks...
We’ve been thinking about something like that, but I would want to redesign something that would be able to support any weight without me having to pull on that front major beam. But I have been thinking along those lines. Thank you for the comment and hope you have a great week.
That looks like quite a puzzle. Almost there!
Actually, it was a cakewalk compared to the last one we had to put together. But it is definitely Lott more heavy duty than our last one as well.
Good evening from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It’s really nice when little things work. Like using the the C Clamp to hold the rubber stop in place. Hope you have a good safe week. 🇺🇸
Hello Pittsburgh!! Yes it’s like a third hand. Hope you enjoyed and have a great week
Checking in SM outpost Richard and Jennifer don't be Dumb hit the Thumb to support them on there journey.
What Up Sergio? Hope you enjoyed
What a way to go Richard. A new sawmill for a new building hooray 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Thank you. We didn’t plan it that way, it just worked out
You're gonna love it
We believe so. It’s exciting when you upgrade
Congratulations on your new Mill! Welcome to The Woodmizer Family. Proud for Ya'll. Look forward now to some sawmilling video's. More content for the channel.
Invest in a Megahook from Logrite. Enjoy.
I’m thinking about framework overhead I could add to support a wench for large logs and the smaller 5ft hooks I have. I just need to decide on a design. Any ideas? And, thanks for the kind words
I've seen 8 or 10inch I beam over the mill with a remote hoist, that would move the length of the mill to roll the larger logs. A chain hoist. The grapple on the Tractor will help as well. My first Mill was an Lt15. I mill some large pine. I use the boom pole and a log chain to roll. I now run an Lt40SHD.
@jerrylittle8922 nice. I bet you love it. I’m thinking on a design for a support. A wench would help to turn the log
Been watching from Australia from the beginning and this is my first comment. I just feel excited for you..God bless
Well thank you very much. We are glad you enjoy the content and we hope that we can continue to improve. I know we have several from Australia that watches and we greatly appreciate the support. We hope that you have a wonderful week.
WooHoo! Exciting times at The Outpost. New sawmill day!
Yes excitement is in the air, lol
I bet you are getting excited, I know I am. Can’t wait to see it in opposition. Enjoyed watching.
Thanks Richard. We are excited and hope to be milling lumber this week
Goood Morning Jennifer, Richard & Patrick !
What’s up? Hope you enjoyed
@@SmokyMountainOutpost well you know I did 😁
Looking forward to the next episode 🎅🏻
Me too, lol. Hope to be milling lumber this week
I have a LT15 Wood Mizer manual mill I put an electric control on it to move it up and down the track this year so I haven't use it yet. I know you will enjoy running this mill a hole lot better than the one you did have. Have fun with it.
Looking forward to it. The old one was great. Five years no problems but battery.
Woo hoo! I could hardley wait for the arrival of that new saw. What a job getting that bad boy in its new home. 😊 you guys rocked it.❤
It’s awesome. Hope next video is milling lumber for the solar system
You must be thrilled to have the assembly under way. It's a beast! My sawmill weighs in at about 720 pounds. 😆 Looking forward to seeing it running.
I didn’t realize how heavy this unit was. It’s packing some pounds, lol
I will be purchasing the same model come October.... It's nice to watch the set up video!
lol, hope we didn’t make to many mistakes. It really wasn’t difficult. Just need some odd wrench’s. By a set of 3/4-1 1/2 and if you have socket set, and small and large crescent wrench you can do it.
happy for you , i could not wait to see it .
It’s a dream come true
Muchas felicidades por el nuevo taller excelente ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🌟
Thank you. Hope you enjoyed and have a good week

I'm so happy that you have a new sawmill... dont know what more to say... 😂❤❤ waiting more new videoa...
Thank you. We are excited to get it going and building more projects.
A lot of work just to set it up, you are right safety first
It has been a challenge but still less so far than the small one we had. Have a good week
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
You should have a pipe that just well fit over the adjustable wrench at the end and you can hold attention and you should have a big box fan unless you have electric to that place and you can have blowing on you or hook one up on the top to have it blown on you just a thought. Sorry about should it’s just a thought. That’s how I hold tension when I have to use a ratchet and an open wrench box to tighten up bolts.
Maybe if we ever get power to the workshop. Best to mill in morning or evening. So far so good. I just needed a third hand named Jennifer, lol
Love it❤
Thanks Mark. It’s exciting and hope to have it running this week
Add another board halfway up the bottom of the braces and you will have four small item bins to loose stuff in. Good Job/
Thought about it but they will fill with sawdust.
This looks like "Rub, Rub, Dub; Three men in a Tub" with you and Jennifer sitting in between the cross members. It is looking so great too.
lol, yes those bunks are large and deep. Have a great week
Richard your like a kid in a candy store 😂😂. Enjoy my friend.
I know right? It’s always fun to upgrade
Sawmill day exciting , hang on let me grab my gloves .are you going to name her ?
I don’t know. What would be a good name? Bring your gloves anytime
What's the cost for that setup .I have a Woodland mill.My brother had a lt40 Woodmizer. Great machine.I taught him to saw with it several years ago.He had a heart attack and sold his machine . He passed soon after. It just sucks getting old. I sawed for 3 half days this week and its Hot.I figure you are around Tellico .I live near Young Harris Ga. Gods country .
You can get the mill for around $17,000 bare bone. Depending on options readies price of course including engine option. This one roughly $24k
Richard your like a kid in a candy store 😂😂. Enjoy my friend. What are your plans for removing the sawdust from the middle of the mill?
Just like I did the other once every six months or so. I could blow it off once a week. But, sooner or later that builds up too. Nothing beats manual removal and clean up, lol
Design / create a sawdust removal system / cart - vacuum system - excited to see what you do with new sawmill and sawmill area . You’re sure have saw up a lot of wood amazing a lot of building as well . How much was store bought 15% or Less
Store bought items for track around $700. But this unit weighs in at 2500 lb total weight. Foundation was important.
@@SmokyMountainOutpost on total homestead most of wood used was sawed by you ?
Hello Richard
The base looks great but I have a question for you those black bars you put the two rollers on it looks like to me you may have put them on wrong to me but remember you’ve done it longer then me the two black bars would be on the back to catch the logs 🪵 from going over to the wall they look like log stops to stop logs from rolling over the mill and the log dogs should be on the out side ok remember you’ve done it longer then
Me ok i admit I could be wrong 😢 but I like watching all your videos and I want you safe to have a great week.

No, they’re mounted on the correct side. It’s just the way that I have the sawmill sitting because I don’t intend to blow sawdust towards the building. I’m gonna cover that in Wednesday’s review video. Thanks for watching. We really appreciate it and thanks for the comment as well.
@@SmokyMountainOutpostthank you for getting back to me.
So, I have a question, and it is only because I have never seen a mill set up much less owned one. You are putting some great work in leveling the track but how much out of square will it get from the vibrations of the mill and would you have to do this same sort of thing to re-level it?
We think the lag screws you watched us install will hold it from moving. I may take out a few on each side and use through bolts just for grins. Hope that helps…
@@SmokyMountainOutpost , thanks, that does help.
Un must weld e piece of Metal on the Frontlader
are you going to add a "super winch" like Two Guys Timberframing?
I’m thinking on it. I need to figure how I will support the frame to mount it
@@SmokyMountainOutpost If you can make it work that would be a game changer!
👍
Thanks Patrick
back stop and dogs but im sure that you know what they are called.
Stop and dog are correct. Since it’s a mill I think most say (log stop and log dog) due to the nature of the machine. Anyway, we know what they are for, lol. Looking forward to future projects. Any ideas on an overhead winch to aid in turning logs? Need something built to mount to. Since I didn’t layout the building for that and didn’t know we were getting a new mill I will have to improvise.
Hurry up and get jens house built so you can start on mine !!! lol
She is having it done by contractor.
Not Richards favorit work😉
Oh my friend but it is a labor of love, lol
looks like you need to get some sunshine on your snow white legs..🤣 😂
I never worry with tans or tan lines. I “roll” with what I have, lol
@@SmokyMountainOutpost I was just pulling your white leg. Ha ha ha.
