Doug, I'm always impressed with the work you turn out. Even though this was had issues, you made it look easy and the end result is WOW. Great job sir.
Wow I still love how close up you get so we can see each and every groove you carve! It's so shiny and I love the colours! oh I love how you did the logo that's so cool!!!!!!
Thanks for making these videos. It amazes me how you can look at a chunk of wood and figure out how to make something amazing out of it! Great work as always!
I like it, Doug! Those colors turned out to compliment the color of the wood nicely, and the wood is beautiful! Hopefully the bubbles in the resin will get sorted out next time without the sealer. Nice bowl!
I love the way you did the logo...it’s way more creative than just a laser. As I always say...technology is often too much and less creativity! Boo to the laser!
Looks nice, Doug. The finish problems are minor. I hope the new bearings solve the vibration problem. I'm expecting to see some of those cutoffs in a future project.
Hi Doug 👋 another awsome bowl the colors turned out great..just one question lol do you ever get mad when you have things go wrong lol cause I love your chuckle and your positive attitude my husband and I love watching you Saturday morning with our cup of coffee have a great weekend thanks for sharing and looking forward to next weekend
Nice job Doug! Those bubbles are caused by moisture and are a Bain of my life too haha. Only way I deal with them is to sand back to 240 and then put another coat of finishing epoxy. Last bowl I made it took 3 coats! Strangely it was cherry burl as well? Perhaps cherry has a higher moisture retention? Who knows but maybe I have followed your channel for a long time and have learnt some tricks from you along the way. You’re a great turner and love the work you do. Cheers Doug
Doug, surprises are always good, though they can also be bad. I guess it all depends on the eyes of the beholder😅. Either way, Doug it is a beautiful piece. Also please travel safe to Colorado.
Looks nice… and I agree with you the bubbles look terrible. You could always redo the finish…again. Guess it just falls in the “oh well” category. Curious to see how the other piece goes without the use of sanding sealer. Or could it be its just too soft and has too much air within. Maybe the vacuum pot if it was punky. Anyway… I Love the Shape. Definitely going to try making one like yours. Well done design. 😊
That was a very different color for that Phoenix Orange then what you saw when you shook it out of the container. I thought it was going to be a fantastic pink and was ready to look for this in the Etsy store and then it turned out more of an orange. :) I'm glad you got some lathe improvements taken care of. There's nothing fun about any craft if you're using substandard equipment and fighting every step of the way.
Word of unsolicited advice, Doug: if you don't have a drill press, get a drill guide so you can make the hole for the worm screw vertical. That way you'll get less wobble at the start. But an impressive piece regardless! And great close-up shots!
It’s beautiful Doug. Shame about the little bubbles but I don’t think they spoil it too much. I guess you have found out that sanding sealer and epoxy might not go together too well. It’s still a quality piece though Doug
Just a thought, Doug because I have never done what you do, but would it be possible to do separate pours to allow the two colors to set apart before turning? 🤔
Those bubbles are called fish eyes. They are caused from silicone or oil on the piece prior to finishing. Wipe it down good with a clean cloth and wax and grease remover prior to finishing
Came out pretty nice. I can’t imagine why the sanding sealer is causing those bubbles to form. It makes no sense. The sealer should stop them, not cause them. Weird. Regardless, you have a lovely piece of work there.
I have yellow cedar from BC Canada and is very hard wood. I think you would enjoy turning it. Would you like to try it. Barry Mullen, Bellingham, Washington State. Let me know and I will send you a piece.
As much as I enjoy your videos, I do not care for a resin finish. If gloss is what you really want maybe lacquer is the answer. Then polish out the lacquer and you can get that deep glossy finish like a piano has. Just a thought…
Yaaaah. I was wondering if thats the piece i sent. Cant wait to see it
I love it. Theres a face in it. Like a cartoon face. So beautiful.
Thank you Punky, I'm glad you're happy with it 😊
The color combination is really nice the wood looks great too good job Doug.
Beautiful piece. It turned out great. 🍒 🪵 🧡🍁🍂
Doug, I'm always impressed with the work you turn out. Even though this was had issues, you made it look easy and the end result is WOW. Great job sir.

I love the mix of colors Doug.
As always Doug it turned out really nice. The finish is what it is, colors look great and nice to sit down for a beer and a Pohl Barn video.
Love how the resin turned out, definitely felt the “hot pink” vibes when it was poured and cured it is much more orange.
Gives off Monet vibes
I like the blue and orange colors together. Gorgeous bowl 🥣
Very beautiful piece Doug have a great weekend ✌️

Oh, this chemistry, you never know right away where you will find and where you will lose. In the sense of the result.
GooD)))))))
Nice one..

Even with the issues it still looks really good. The colors jumping out when you put on the sanding sealer never gets old!

I love it ❤
Very pretty! G’job!
What a lovely surprise...however, the jury’s still out on that Phoenix Orange color...lol. I love the paradise blue though.

😎👍 Beautiful
You kinda sound like a mad scientist in the beginning lol 😂

Looks good to me.
I think the bubbly "defects" only add to the character.
hey lookin good

I didn't use any products on it but ok I'll try it
For as pink as it started, it sure did finish orange! Pretty bowl, buddy!
Did you get the bearings changed out yet?
Beautiful work as always! but I can't help but see a face in the wood right before you go to apply the resin finish, tell me I'm not the only one 😅
id do some test pieces on Scrap wood and see if it is the sanding sealer
can ta make a table lamp,,,im getting ready to try one
I've made a small table lamp shade , stained glass in the search on my channel page should find it
Like always you push thru the hick ups . Project is pretty Doug .
Hope all is well m, take care
I like this one. Will it be for sale?
I think you should call the the skid stain bowl
Came out pretty nice. I can’t imagine why the sanding sealer is causing those bubbles to form. It makes no sense. The sealer should stop them, not cause them. Weird. Regardless, you have a lovely piece of work there.
I'm thinking it is a chemical
Reaction. I cut the sealer with DNA
2nd or third 😊
To much heat cause’s those air bubbles Doug, try a heat gun instead that works for me.
First!!!!!
That's it? Just first? LOL
My drunk dumbass self thought that the rope was a damn snake. 😂😂😂😂

I was worried in the beginning, but that turned out well, keep up the good work Doug
fourth
Cute but I could not imagine if I saw a fetus or something in it.
You really need to stop depending on your comfort zone…
I thought I wasn't, lol 😆
