My son got this bike about 6 weeks ago and has been having a great time on it. The first upgrade he made was brakes. He tossed the OEM brakes for Kink Desist. It’s not a radical change but the stopping power is improved.
Look so I’m 5’8. I’m 13 and still growing. I am trying to decide on whether to get the 2023 kink whip or the 2022 kink switch. Which you u prefer because of the different top tube lengths. And I am also 140 pounds
Don't know if you saw the comments on your last Kink Gap video. There was a guy asking about weight limits and I think this was a good answer for him. Aloha
thank you Doug. You recommended me 3 bikes and I ended up buying one of them, actually the most expensive of them, because I found it somewhere with an adorable discount: Kink Cloud :D
Got my 2023 almost a year ago (6"/210lbs). The Stock brakes are junk and broke after 2 weeks (replaced with some Oddessy). Everything else is solid and holding up nice!
These companies really think we need to pay the price they say lol. When they don’t sell don’t wonder why. I use to love bmx but these companies make me strongly dislike it sometimes
Yeah the stores right now have them for 339 well at Dan's Comp and Source BMX and City grounds is having a Black Friday sale and you can get the kink the GT and all those regularly like 579 and around $600 bikes for about $350,360 379 I saw the Kink whip for 339 at Dan's right now it's so hard to look at these cheap prices I got the Subrosa Salvador for 107 bucks because they made a mistake online at thehouse and the next day they fixed it I don't know how I got that but it wasn't my first choice but for $107 bucks can't go wrong
I’m in Australia so obviously our dollar is different but kink whip is $849 & cult devotion is $1199 which is a massive price jump here. I think the whip is still better value option… well at least in Australia
@@YEAST-DISCHARGE I'm in the same boat trying to decide whether to pick something less good on sale or TT 20.5" whip for the $849... or hope that there's an EOFYS on the kink gap somewhere that's actually in stock in a month's time. It'll be my 1st bmx and seems a lot to put down before I know if I'll get into it... just wanting to learn bunny hops, wheelies, manuals and maybe 180s to start.
@JSpider I literally bought it to just chase my kids around as they are just starting to ride bikes. Other than the odd manual and bunny hop I'm just cruising. Hope you find a bike that fits your needs
People are still recommending this bmx as the best bang for your buck in 2024. Hard to get get anything better full chromoly for similar price/ Half the price there's Moongoose Legion L100 but it may have worse quality. It's also full chromoly but it has open front hub and people report problems with it after a while of using. So yea... Kink Whip 2023 seems still to be the best choice even in 2024 unless you know something I don't :)
I'd love to see a Kink Whip 'Pro' model featuring a 1-piece steerer tube fork, 9.5" bars and 28-tooth sprocket for another $100. Rather than have the Whip and Whip XL, do a 21" Whip Pro with an improved parts package.
So you better buy a more expensive Bike which already includes all that Upgrades. Many thanks for that review, now I know the Whip sucks and is highly overrated
You will never convince me a new shit bike is better than a used custom! I will buy used every time before I buy new! I'll get the same quality parts for half the price or less used!
I’m the opposite. When it comes to items like this I prefer new. I’ve had warranty issues before (seat tube defects and crank arms with a microscopic crack) that I would have had to solve myself if I’d purchased used.
Not sure how you expect a new bike to come with a full Chromoly frame, fork and bars AND offer 48-spline cranks and a 1-piece steer tube fork for under $500. Do you expect foldable tires and Tubolitos, too? How about carbon rims with titanium spokes? Of course not, $500 will only get you so much.
The question of upgrade-ability might be an important callout for people who are new to the category. Also, some bikes come equipped with non-standard features like odd bb size, headtube size, no cable routing, no gyro holes, etc. which could limit one’s options.

The price went down to $500 and if you use a discount code it’s around $400. Definitely worth it now.
what is the discount code
Code?🙏
What’s up with the code?
He was probably referring to the 10% off you get for subscribing to the email from bmx source or Dan's comp.

I was about to buy the whip but couldn't find one. Went with the division fortiz and it's been great so far for a beginner like me.

What has a stronger frame??2023 kink whip or 2023 kink gap??
I broke my gap xl frame chainstay it's not full chromoly the whip is better full chromoly frame. plus, I'm 215-220 pounds and I ride kinda hard.

Where do I get this what website
I can’t find a whip that’s not xl anywhere around me or online. Sadness
Is there any difference from the 2022 model and the 2023 Model besides the paint
No
@@Dougsterbob wow! Crazy they would raise the price then.
currently im riding Kink Whip 2022 version, nothing bad or negative to feedback about Whip 2022. im still loving it.
thankyou so much. U recommended me the perfect bike for me.
Get 2021 version and it’s on sale right now.
These companies really think we need to pay the price they say lol. When they don’t sell don’t wonder why. I use to love bmx but these companies make me strongly dislike it sometimes
The bike companies? A lot of the price is in the mark up that is added once it gets to the bike store.

Pushys has 2x 2022 devotions at the moment on sale for $799. I ended up buying the 23 whip xl yesterday for $849 and pretty happy with my decision.

Is the KINK 2025 WHIP XL BMX BIKE worth it nowadays? Please let me know!
is the WTP 2023 reason better than the Kink Whip
I’d say yes just because of the premium parts, but it’s more expensive
Thank you. The 2023 WTP reason is the bike you recommended to me.@@Dougsterbob

You said your not a BMX nerd member 😳
I wan't a freetoaster. I can't pedal backwards that good. :-(.. I'm old :-)
Have a 2007 kink nothing new beats the old kink bmxs and they’re super light these bikes look heavy
I think mongoose legion l500 is better bike when its on sale for 350
I just bought the whip for 499$ supposed to be here in 1-5 days
kink wip selling for 500 on dans comp

Does the Kink Switch fit the specs you’re seeking?
@@IronArkivist Nah, it's much more street orientated. I'm familiar with the Switch. great bike but not quite what I'm getting at with a Whip 'Pro'.
❤❤❤
I’m 41 now but should have kept my Empire from being 19 years old 😢
339! November!! So cheap

Kink whip is 499

I hear you. The thing is, when you buy a new complete, regardless of the price or model, you know someone didn't ride it off a roof or steal it.
I’m the opposite. When it comes to items like this I prefer new. I’ve had warranty issues before (seat tube defects and crank arms with a microscopic crack) that I would have had to solve myself if I’d purchased used.
What bike can't be upgraded? That doesn't make sense! Also, if I'm spending over $500 on a bike I shouldn't have a need for upgrades!

I was gonna say I thought you talked about this before, but you just shill for Kink alot, but at least you aren't completely bought lol
