Love your videos Lynn, great content, and great tips. As a personal trainer for moms in pregnancy and postpartum many of my clients have low back pain, and most of the time it’s due to their lack of glute strength, and poor postural, lifting and picking up habits. Keep doing what you’re doing.
This is so interesting to see from a PT perspective. I do a very similar chiropractic adjustment on the sacrum for this common postpartum presentation of the nutated/counternutated sacrum. It's surprising (still so many years into practice) how well this works!!
Thank you for this video and information ❤
OMG ... right sided lower back pain? Just nailed me in the first 2minutes of your video😂.. I’m a midwife and Bowen therapist with interest in post natal ... have signed up for your summit, and keen to do training with you to help out in the future if you need to refer woman to a body worker in my area of Central Queensland, Australia . Much love and gratitude sent your way X
Linda Barrow! So glad you found this summit! Please check out my online courses as they have been reduced in price for the month of April. Also in the summit I interviewed John Wilks and we talk about Bowen!! So fun. So glad you are in the summit. Learn lots!!
Hi Lynn thank you so much for your videos! I am a Physiotherapist and this is a fantastic technique for helping LBP thank you! I have one question about the two techniques, how long do you normally do each technique for? do you hold the positions for a period of time or do you do repetitions of the techniques? Thanks
Hold until they release. Take my Postpartum course to learn a lot more. Good luck.
I had 3 spine surgeries before I got pregnant. I had a c section for my spines well being. And I’m scared because when my back Re-breaks. It’s the right side that hurts. I hope this helps me
I can’t find anyone in Southern California that can perform this for me. My sacrum is so painful I can’t even lay down it hurts. This makes sense. Wow I really wish you were located near me. I need help 😢 4 months postpartum. I thought my tailbone pain would go away after birth but it has gotten worse recently
I have pain in my left side
i neeeeddd youuuuuu !!! i have been to chiropractor for my pain which she did say was sacrum and the joint my pelvis is a mess when she adjusts me its a lot of pain some days i cannot walk.. hoping to find someone to do this for me thank you!
How did your pain go away I’m deeling with the same problem right now, the chiropractor doesn’t work his adjustments don’t do anything for me. I’m so tired of this pain I can’t normally take care of my newborn
Do you know of anyone who is certified in the Miami, Florida area? I gave birth four months ago and have been having what I think is exactly what you are speaking of here! I have been seeing and speaking to various practitioners but have yet to find any relief. Thank you so much!!
Please check out my directory instituteforbirthhealing.com/business-directory/. I know there is someone is Coral Springs- Kathleen Vigo. She's great. Not sure about Miami.
I just found your channel. Since my daughter had her baby 3 years ago, she has had bad back pain. She has gone to different doctors, had mri, seen a chiropractor, been to a physical therapist. Nothing helps her but a certain pain pill. Any suggestions on what to do...we are lost looking for answers!
Check out my directory and see if someone is nearby. It might be worth flying to see someone. Defintely go to someone who's taken my advanced course as they'll be able to help her best! Good luck to you!!
When you are doing these techniques, are you holding the postitions/pulling for 60-90 seconds like you would with myofascial work or are you mobilizing back and forth?
You hold until a release is felt in the tissues.
You hold it until a release.
This is great! I have a client who is having low back pain since having her baby but she had a c-section. Would this not apply to her since she didn’t give birth vaginally? Thank you!!
Marisa Ericson if she went into labor it could apply. But back pain could also be from her scar tissue and she should watch the how to massage your c-section massage video. The why you should massage it explains why.
Institute for Birth Healing - Lynn Schulte, PT wonderful thank you for responding! This was her second child, but first time having a c-section. She also has been experiencing diastasis recti. It went away after her first baby but she is currently dealing with it again and it is quite a bit worse after the second pregnancy. I’m not very well versed on this condition. Is it something that could potentially trigger low back pain? She is very active and has a common postural distortion called anterior pelvic tilt. Basically her hip flexor and quadricep muscles are very dominant and tight, which pulls her hips forward making the glutes and hamstrings weak and lengthened. The low back extensors become tight and dominant as a result and this unfortunately leads to weak and lengthened abdominal muscles. I would blame the pain on the weak abs except she has had this issue for quite some time and the low back pain only started after her 2nd baby. I also noticed during her movement screening that it looked like she might have mild scoliosis. I asked her about it and she said that she was told that by a doctor when she was young but that the doctor said it wasn’t anything to be concerned about. I’m just trying to pinpoint this pain so i can suggest stretches and exercises that will help. I’m beginning to think that it’s really a function of all of these issues combined. Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated!!
First I should say,"thank you for this video!" Is it possible to be stuck in this pattern for 10 years? I had my child 10 years ago and ever since, have suffered from chronic back pain for that long. I have had 3 different types of epidural shots with NO relief. Is it possible my pelvis has been in post birth state for that long?
Saam McBride yes it can. I found it in my aunt whose son was 47 y/o!!! The body holds onto the patterns when it’s stuck in the birth pattern. See one of my Birth Healing Specialists to help you.
Thank you so much!

Absolutely i can relate to this…I have severe lower backpain since post delivery.. Its been 2 years n iam still dealing with it. I was told i dont have any other option but to deal with it or else was suggested to try out exercise or yoga…But the point is when i start doing yoga or Exercise it triggers the real bad backpain that i cannot move next day.
I can feel there is no stability in my lower spine it keeps shaking if i try to sit relaxed. I have to sit upright all the time or use pillows to support my back. I feel so helpless cannot even sit for 2 mins on the floor directly. Please help me is there anything i can do on my own.
Check out my new video How to Close the Open Birthing Pattern. I'll be posting it soon.
Tq will try it!
Hey Lynn, I am a mom who has had anterior pelvic tilt on the right side for 30 years after giving birth to my son. My sacrum has been in pain ever since. Ive seen D.O.'s and all kinds of holistic doctors to no avail. Please can you advise me on who to see in northern California? Particularly in Santa Rosa California, thank you so much!
Thanks for reaching out. I’d ask in my Facebook group institutef or birth healing community. I don’t believe my directory has anyone in northern CA. I know there is someone in Oceano Ca. Directory.instituteforbirthhealing.com is where you can look. Good luck to you.
There is one in Grass Valley near sacromento.
Can epidural cause this, I gave birth 3 months ago and on on my second month I started feeling this pain in my lower right side. Chiropractor doesn’t help at all. Can it go away on it’s own in time.
It's not caused by the epidural. IT's the motion the bones go through when giving birth. Please see one of my BIrth Healing Speciailists in my directory here: instituteforbirthhealing.com/business-directory/. They can help you out with this. Or show this to your chiropractor and see if they can figure out what to do from this video. Good luck
Is there a specific reason for using the supine position? Why not perform the techniques in prone or side lying, so it is easier access the SIJ/sacrum?
You can in prone and I teach you how in my courses. Not sidelying though. I like supine cause I can feel so much more with the weight of the body in my hands.
Thanks!
I have pain on the left side around SI joint although it feels in the entire lower back. I delivered 3 month ago. Can u give any technique which we can do at home?
bisma israr it’s all about trying to bring the bones back together after birth. You can try some bridging exercises to see if that helps. Good luck!
Hi! Any ideas or hypotheses as to why postpartum women commonly present with this right sided pattern?
There’s some thing that we’re doing as a society because part of this pattern is found in non-pregnant people but I feel like it’s exacerbated during pregnancy and labor and that’s what gets stuck in this pattern. No idea what it is though.
I had a c section 4 months ago and when I wake up I have pain in both hips and I can't walk properly too much ain and distress kindly help me
Check out my closing of the bones exercise on this channel and see if that helps. Where are you located?
@@instituteforbirthhealing-l520 thanks I'm from Pakistan
