Muore nel 1977. Sepolto a Lisbona, nella Basilica Concattedrale di Sao Vicente de Fora, Sepolcreto dei Patriarchi Lisbonesi. Nel 1971 gli succedette il Cardinale di Santa Romana Chiesa Antonio Ribeiro, Cardinale-Prete della Basilica Francescana di Sant'Antonio di Padova al Laterano. Il Cardinale Antonio Ribeiro è morto nel 1998 poche settimane prima di compiere 70 anni di età. Vescovo a 39 anni, promosso Patriarca di Lisbona a 43 anni, creato Cardinale di Santa Romana Chiesa da Papa Paolo VI avendo l'Eminentissimo Antonio di Santa Romana Chiesa Cardinale Ribeiro anni 44 di età.
@@masto2898 Sorry, but that's either not true what you're saying or you need to notify the Bishop asap. In the Roman Rite candles are required during the celebration of mass. It's just that in the ordinary form, there are less candles required than in the extraordinary form, but the equal amount is permitted. The GIRM is quite clear on this subject; It calls for a minimum of two candles to be present on the altar or near it, but allows for four and six as well. A seventh can be permitted if the Mass is celebrated by a bishop. So please if it does happen like you say, notify your bishop or talk to the parish priest that he cannot go outside of this rubric because celebrating mass without candles is a grievous offense.
@@mp5639 I think the basilica (or cathedral) in Lisbon is build towards the west so the altar is versus populum because its towards the east. The same as the papal basilica’s in Rome

The Patriarch of Lisbon celebrated pontificaly "versus populum" as to imitate the Papal Mass at St Peter's basilica.
