At my parish, during the regular Tridentine Rite Mass, I once saw a priest saying a requiem mass alone (using black vestments) at one of the side altars while the main altar was being used for the regular Sunday service.
😮Weird. That is not a good reason to go to Sede types. I was in Rome FSSP this Holy Week 2024 and they did the whole Triduum Pre-1955. No need to reject Peter even if he is a bad Pope he is still Peter. I also go to SSPX as well as FSSP on ocasion.
I think you are right but it was Pius XII who decided that it would be tolerated that a priest may celebrate mass without a servant, though it is still preferable for him to have a servant.
Even today it is possible to celebrate Mass without a minister (what is different is the situation when a priest celebrates Mass alone, without anyone). Church regulations also provided for such a situation in the past. It is interesting to see how monks in "traditional" monasteries celebrate their Masses (or how they did it in the past).
@@CaeremonialeRomanum I still haven't found any "rubricista" who justified the celebration of Mass without a minister, even in extreme cases. From what I've read even hermits needed a special permit to do that. Once the minister represented the whole assembly, now he's mainly a servant who facilitates the celebration of a plain Mass
This Council was very important in the history of the Church, it produced a series of documents to direct the life of the Church in the twentieth century and beyond..... 🙏🏿
No it wasn't. Vat. II need not have happened but the modernists pushed for it soon after Pius XII died. They spent 3years planning it. They destroyed the Church to the point of denying Catholics their inheritance with regard to the Latin Mass. Now young people flock to it.

My Grandpa was born in the 1930s and remembers when priests in cathedrals would say private low masses.

It's not allowed

Beautiful!

What an epic sight!
It would have been such an absolute honor to witness, if not assist even one of the priests in offering this Sacrosanct Mass
Sedevacantists do it a lot, pre-55 Mass. I've gone over to them. Very beautiful.

Sedevacantist is a great way to say separated crazies.

Didn't the Council of Trent forbid the celebration of Mass without a minister?

The absurdity of having a liturgy without a congregation. In the Eastern Churches this is prohibited, as it should be.
Absurdity? Why? Some arguments?
