Yeah I always wished we had seen an updated design in one of the sequels, we see a few in the background but not up close. Which is a damn shame because for a species that played a large role in several EU/Legend books the only on screen example we have looks like a classic monster from the old Werewolf and Dracula movies. Pose is straight rigid Bela Lugosi with a plastic mask on top.
Edit: I see there was apparently one in the Mandalorian, sorry hadn't gotten that far in the series or video yet.

Much of that backstory was written in Tales from Mos Eisley. And it's my favorite story of all the books I've read. Not so much the world building, but the unique way it used a first-person narrative. They could have made a whole movie out of that story (or at least a good hour long episode of a TV show). But alas, Disney owns it now...

Well, the guy Mandalorian was fight could easily been Force Sensitive. Force Feat: Reflect Energy.
Also lifting a metal drop door like that is beyond normal bio physics only, Force empower person could do that.
Devaronian are know to have a lot of Force Sensitives with their peoples.
In Dark Horse comics there was a Devaroian named Villy that ran with the Jedi Vos.
Villy was regarded as being " unnaturally lucky."
It all depends on how they were trained in using the Force. Or they just thought themselves tougher than others and they didn't realize they were tapping the Force in what they were doing.

Devaronian culture seems similar to Dathomirian culture; the main difference being that Devaronian males more often than not deserved to be treated the way they were treated by the females. Dathomirian culture is like some kind of flipped version of what feminists want you to think human society is irl, except a bit worse, too. To the nightsisters, the nightbrothers were barely more than sex slaves who all lived on the other side of the planet.

Their resistance to fire may simply be an ambient force ability they evolved over time. They are one of the most force sensitive species in the galaxy, it stands to reason they would possess some latent force shield ability that might be instinctual in nature, a form of natural tutiminus if you will, that protects them from energy but isn't controllable. As for why they have this ability? they live on a giant tree filled planet with oxygen... forrest fires would be a HUGE and frequent threat to any species, and just like earths forrests, the species evolved way to defend against and even thrive from fire. Throw the force into the mix and using it to protect from fire makes sense.
