  • I have been informed that it is called a shared agreement between the psychiatrist and the GP. The Psychiatrist is responsible for your care and the GP prescribes the medication.

I was diagnosed through Psychiatry UK and I had no problem at all getting my medication through Shared Care. I was really worried that my GP wouldn't agree to it, but she did, and I was absolutely amazed! I think I was really lucky 🙂

Hi Lorna, I’m in Scotland so likely different but I’m looking to go to psychiatry UK for a diagnosis and was just wondering do you know if psychiatry UK ask your GP for your medical history or are they able to get this automatically (by signing for it) thanks!

@@djr994 I don't think that they ask your GP for your medical history - but I'm not completely sure!

I was diagnosed with ADHD and Autism at a private assessment centre, but the NHS doesn't recognise it nor gave me the ADHD medication I need.

I had a chat with my GP about it beforehand. They assured me there shouldn't be an issue, and said they'd facilitate getting it handed over.
I'll try to give an update whenever things get to that point.

Hi Sarah! This video was really helpful and I was just wondering if the cost of the private treatment is lessened by this contact line with the NHS/GP providing medication instead of paying the private service for the medication, or if it’s the same price? I’m sorry i’m a little slow lol but is the benefit of this is a decrease in cost? Thank you! :)

Unfortunately it was the same price for me but with right to choose I think it can be free I am not sure on that though.

@@FindingYourSerenityHi! I finally got privately diagnosed today (after 6 years), and your video helped, so thank you!
I’ve been informed by my private care (ADHD360) that if I got a private prescription for medication, that’d be £80-£200 a month
Through the Right To Choose my GP can give me an NHS prescription now that I’ve been diagnosed. I’ve been told this’ll be a 1-2 month process, and I’ll be £9 a month. If you’re paying privately for medication currently, maybe ask your provider about pivoting?
      Thank you again!

Iv waited years for an assessment I finally had it over the phone yesterday iv now been put on a waiting list to see a consultant he will give the diagnosis! I looked at going private I was told all referrals had to be done through the gp for any private treatment or they won’t see you 🤔and even then I wouldn’t be able to get prescriptions unless I waited for the nhs one so I decided to wait! Have you don’t a video on your assessment? I tried to have a look but didn’t see one x

I bet it’s such a relief to finally have it after waiting so long! No I’ve not done one on that specifically. To be honest it was so long ago I’m not sure if I could remember it all but I can definitely try and put one together. I think my ‘diagnosed at 27’ one mentions it. I’ll have to rewatch and see!

@@FindingYourSerenity I find myself in your videos. I saw a video with you from 1 year ago. I have been living in the UK for 2 years. I am 99% sure that I have ADHD, but in my country only a few months ago, they raised the issue of adults being thoroughly investigated regarding the possibility of having ADHD, until now only children were susceptible. I have been receiving psychiatric treatments for the last 11 years until the summer of 2019, now I have an appointment with a psychiatrist here in the UK in Cambridge, I will see D. Doctor on Friday. I hope that I get out of this condition that has been blocking my development for so many years. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
