Fun fact, the Nether Gundam (windmill) was made as a joke. The shows director in an interview said it was drawn as a joke and the crew thought it was so funny they added it into the show. He said that sometimes they'd make the most outlandish Gundams simply to mess with Bandai as they kept getting notes from the toy company asking for specific stuff to be added in for toys and models, the crew said "let's see if they can make a model out of this!"

This isn't just my favorite Gundam of all time, it's my favorite anime of all time. Regardless of how over the top or corny it is I love everything about it, I watch it at least every two years, it gives me so much nostalgia from when it premiered in the US on Toonami in 2002 when I became a fan. Good times.
From a Hong Konger perspective, G Gundam always remains a special place in my heart. Since the director of G Gundam loves the Kung Fu fighting films directed by Tsui Hark. Hence most antagonists in Hong Kong arc are named from Tsui Hark's film, such as Heaven's Sword (天劍絕刀), Grand Gundam ( 獅王爭霸)and Walter Gundam (笑傲江湖) Even the set scenes reminds us of former glory of Hong Kong as well, the floating restaurants and Victoria Harbour........which brings Hong Kongers in sentimental state that those are eroding by time and governing .......

Finally a G Gundam fan. Its so good and really easy for rewatches. UC and some of the other universes in Gunda, need a bunch of exposition and backstory. G Gundam just needs Mark Gatha yelling FINGER and KYOSHI
Thanks for this retrospective. Not to sound as a downer, but as an adult, this is the perfect feel-good show to watch during these hard times were living in.
I think everyone in the actual family hates it because it went balls to the wall and saved the family from going under... Succeeding where they themselves failed, keeping the franchise alive by revitalizing interest in it.
The pilot's transformation/control system was so memorable and cool. Is this my favorite series in the franchise? No. Do I love it and refuse to explain further? Every time.
Sailor Moon transformation sequence for the pilots, DBZ/Saint Seyia GOLD upgrade, cape being turned into a cocktail dress and the photo meme G Gundam has it all
I remember myself during Elementary days in my home country reciting what domon says before he does his finishing move "Shining finger". The good old days.
I have to keep reminding myself that dub Domon isn't the default version that everyone else gets/got too. It was perfect casting and it's still hard to imagine anyone else doing it... If only we could get the dude to learn Japanese and redub the OG show's lines lol
The formulaic nature of the early fights does something I think is kinda important; it sets up plot without making the fight TOO exciting and causing people to miss it. The dialogue of the fights gets more interesting than the fight itself, often times. It also sets up the potential of the fighters for later on in the series, sacrificing a little hype now to achieve greater hype later.
This needed be like 2 hours long. G gundam is just too darn good. The show came from way out of the left field and took a real robot show and made it a super robot show. All the gundam designs are just epic, look at Zeus gundam lol. Then you have master Asia, probably one of if not the coolest gundam character ever! This isn't a gundam show, it's a rollercoaster ride of fun. Now that all of that has been said, I need to know if you have seen this man?!
This show was definitely more Saturday morning cartoon vibes with plenty of silly moments but it had a lot of great moments too. Had good characters and got you pumped.
G Gundam is really artful aside from the silly stereotype designs. The storyboard, flow, cinematography. Sincerely hope anyone growing up disliking this to give it another go with a more critical lens. It'll blow your mind and give you a change of Heart.
I personally would say those stereotypical designs is part of the charm of G Gundam as a way of them showing they're not afraid of trying something different
@@devilbringer1102 Yeah it's interesting that the reaction of those designs coming from newer fans are leaning slightly on being malicious. I suppose 'progressiveness' is showing its progression in a way, but I wish people don't cling on it too hard by criticizing it using our current standards. It was way harder to connect with other parts of the world back then, and ultimately I don't sense any ill-will through those designs. Everyone got their highlights, and the final message is clear. A limited way to deliver representations, but they are representations no less.
I've watched countless anime, including a ton of Shonen and such shows. I have to say that Sekiha Love Love Burning Tenkyoken is still by far one of the most epic "final attack" scenes in anime history.
The beauty of G Gundam is that it's literally the Demon's Souls of anime. No one thought it would do well so they gave the creator a blank check and he went absolutely mad with it. It's glorious
I initially skipped F91 and Victory so I didn't know how badly Gundam needed a change of pace to save itself. It is a miracle that G Gundam came out as best as it did, as Yasuhiro Imagawa, the director of this series, had to deal with corporate wishes and infused his own love for martial arts and gave the show so much of its own identity. Unbridled stupidity and a ton of heart give this show a really great palette cleanser from the depresso espresso UC timeline. It's still the most original and one of the best AUs for me personally. Shining Finger theme is iconic, and it's just a blast seeing Gundam be so different on the surface, but oddly still very Gundam under the veneer (even the ending is somewhat sad knowing the Gundam Fight continues on and the Earth continues to be sullied).
The first Gundam I saw was Wing. And I figured that was just how Gundam was. I like G Gundam because it was so wild and out there. Then I watched Gundam, and was shocked to realize that Wing was actually the rebellious emo child of the Gundam family, and that while G Gundam was silly, it fit the series tone better than Wing
Discovered your channel through this, discovered the franchise through it on Toonami. Love listening to its score (Domon's Theme, Burning Finger) and all four op/eds (op2 has an official english version!) I also miss Mark Gatha and his work as Megaman X so much. Wish he'd take a break from being a doctor if the work ever presents itself!
G Gundam is definitely one of my favorite Gundam stories. It is a series that seems heavily influenced by dragonball Z. While different than the usual Gundam shows that deal with war, G Gundam still has war influence the narrative. Not to mention that like every other Gundam series, there is always death, especially emotional deaths. I am glad Domon and Rain got together in the end and ultimately defeated the Dark Gundam aka the Devil Gundam with the use of the Burning Gundam aka the God Gundam.
@@Yurihyuga766 sorry, but the Dark Gundam isn't really like Majin Buu at all. Even the creation of these two entities is completely different. Not counting the retcon that Akira Toriyama made with Majin Buu because it is just another example of Toriyama contradicting himself, Majin Buu was created to be evil, while the ultimate gundam was created for good but ultimately corrupted into evil. The self recovery of the Dark Gundam doesn't even compare to Buu's, even when the Dark Gundam is at its peak. Even their absorptions and evolutions are completely different. The Dark Gundam's evolution was by design and was corrupted, while Buu doesn't really physically evolve, it's pure absorption or reversal of absorption. The Dark Gundam doesn't really absorb anything other than the dark army it created to protect itself and for food. My point is that the Dark Gundam and Majin Buu are vastly different, and any similaraties are few and completely coincidental. I honestly wouldn't call the Dark Gundam the Gundam version of Majin Buu. They really are nothing alike, especially in character development.
G's definitely one of my favourites alongside X and 00. Some fun factoids I remember from this is that Domon's English actor Mark Gatha poured his heart and soul into this role to the point that he lost his voice for a moment after finishing up the final episodes of the show which doesn't surprise me, the man is great. He also pops up as Irvine in Zoids CC/GF and alot of people remember him fondly for his performance as Mega Man X in CM/X8/MHX (and to this day is considered the best voice of X) before becoming a doctor. He has definitely been missed.
Oh G Gundam, as a stand alone anime its pretty good. As a Gundam series, that's a bit more complicated. As somebody who started watching Gundam series relatively recently in preparation for Super Robot Wars V, X and T I've so far seen the original Gundam, Zeta, Char's Counterattack, F91, G, Wing and Unicorn and out of those I'd put G Gundam around 4th place behind Unicorn as 1st, OG Gundam at 2nd and Zeta at 3rd. Anyway, I've heard quite a bit that G Gundam is a polarizing entry due it basically being a Super Robot show in Gundam's clothing. But I would argue, what's wrong with that? Let's compare the Gundam franchise to the filmography of Adam Sandler, where as Sandler spends most of his time making dumb comedies with a few decent serious films like Uncut Gems; G Gundam is the Uncut Gems of Gundam, an over the top, nonsensical OP bullshit fest in a franchise that is often well known for its "war is hell" melodrama. Oh and there's also the fact Gundam could very well have ended with this series if it didn't make bank, which it did. It was basically the one two punch of G Gundam's toy sales and the international broadcasting of Wing right at the hight of popularity for N-Sync and the Backstreet Boys that helped save the franchise after Victory Gundam shat the bed. Though Speaking of Gundams most of the ones outside of the Shuffle Alliance are kind of dumb let's be honest. Personal pick for most hilarious one is the Windmill Gundam. My pick for most facepalm worthy is of course the Zebra Gundam. Oh and of course we can't forget about Master Asia, just watch this show for him alone. Especially the dub because he sounds like Sigma from Mega Man X if he smoked an entire Marlboro factory (mostly due the fact that Master Asia's VA played Sigma in Megaman Maverick Hunter X. Oh and yes I know that Domon's VA also played X in that game and X8.) But overall I do like G Gundam as well as some other Gundam series. Honestly here's how I'd recommend this show. If you know someone who hates Gundam but loves Shonen anime, you can probably recommend them G Gundam. Kind of how I like The Last Jedi even though I don't like Star Wars.
ah someone knowing that Domon and Master Asia fought each other in a game unrelated to the gundam universe. EDIT: If you like THe Last Jedi (or the concepts of it despite the execution) then I highly recommend Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 which dives WAY deeper into the materia then what the movies ever did, explaining the dark & light side motives in a philsophical way and what the "true enemy" of the franchise is overall. In fact The Last Jedi was trying too hard to be like KOTOR2 without knowing what it did right. If you don't wanna play KOTOR2 for whatever reason, I would recommend watching "Kreia - a critical analysis of Star Wars", it's truely worth the time being put into it, and maybe you learn something for real life too :)
Toonami gave us Gundam Wing then G Gundam so it was cool to see this super serious Gundam series then this shounen Gundam series. I love it and the Blu ray set did the show justice
Your music choice for this was so good. Gundam Battle Assault theme!!! I mean wow that’s a rare gem. Then halo and Toonami music. Tip of the hat to you sir
My first Gundam series, my favorite Gundam series. I love that it still manages to convey the franchise's overall anti war message but in it's own unique super robot way. Long live the King of Hearts, The Gundam of Gundams!
Hands down my favorite Gundam Show. Domons Dub voice just really brings the heat and i loved watching it on Toonami. Every now and again ill watch the final match between Master Asia and Domon because watching 2 Gundams go Super Saiyan and fire off Kamehamehas to some amazing music never gets old. How many universes would Master Asia solo? Would putting him in the ZERO system give him Ultra Instinct 🤔, the world may never know.
G Gundam was the first Gundam series that I fell in love with. This retrospective was awesome and its so cool seeing everyone in the comments mark out over how good it is.
1, when you said "all set" mid-sentence one time, i reflexively went "ready? Go!!!" 2, i hear you with the gundam battle assault music in the background =D
Thank you for doing a retrospective of my favorite Gundam series of all time Mobile Fighter G Gundam. I really liked this series because it has a great combination of action and suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I also love the characters including antagonists like Master Asia as all of them get a chance to shine without crowding each other. It also have the best love story between Domon and Rain even though it had both of the do the cheesy power of love version of Shining Finger, but its fun to watch the two of them grow closer of the course of the series. This is a show that has a lot of heart and it is not afraid to wear it on its sleeve. I'm currently rewatching G Gundam(ep. 30) for the third time with subs although it is not as memorable as the English dub version I still enjoy it. Shining Finger!!!!!!!!!
This is literally my favorite Gundam all time I have seen wing I have seen Endless waltz I have seen most of the series as a whole but this one is just so cool and stupid at the same time I just can’t help but love this more
First time i saw gundam was walking into my friends house as a kid and his older brother was watching the original series. The episode where romba rahl dies. Then he showed me patlabor and i was hooked on mecha anime for life.
If you guys love g Gundam or are interested in it. Please give the anime giant robo the day the earth stood still a go. It's a 7 episode 90s ova directed by the same guy. And it is truly legendary. You will not be disappointed
Can't tell you how many times this series had me contemplating getting a King of Hears tattoo on my hand lol. Thanks for this; G Gundam is the perfect encapsulation of everything I love about late 90s and early 2000s anime, all wrapped up in a single series. So much heart went into it (no pun intended). 👊🏿 Great job and looking forward to seeing more from you
My two best friends got married last summer. I introduced them to each other, they hit it off immediately, and have been a couple for 12 years now. I knew they were both really into anime, but I was still pretty surprised when, after they were pronounced husband and wife "I Trust You Forever" by Yoshifumi Ushima started blaring through the speakers! The fact that it was only a few days after Yoshifumi Ushima's passing made it all the more touching.
Great review of G Gundam, only one thing while G Gundam was released originally first it was the second to be aired in the United States behind Gundam Wing. Still great review.
Thanks for the great recap. G holds a special place in my heart as my absolute favorite Gundam show too, and it's so much fun seeing people's reactions to it when I set it in front of them. That said, I think it's over the top aesthetic leads many to misunderstand it, at least on first viewing. Of all the alternate universe stories, G is by far the *MOST* faithful to the core themes of the original Gundam, and it's director, Yasuhiro Imagawa, was hand picked by Tomino to direct the show, as he worked with Tomino on 0079. G translates the ideas of 0079 quite faithfully, but with its own spin. The key notion of Gundam--that war is bad and always leads to mass catastrophe--is on full display with the effects seen of the Gundam Fight on Earth. In place of Newtypes, G's Gundam Fighters are similarly superhuman and also come to deep understanding of each other, only through fists and combat rather than Newtype space magic. And in the end, it's not any greater power that achieves lasting victory, but the love and compassion of two people allowing them to finally bridge a massive emotional divide. G might look ridiculous--hell, it celebrates being ridiculous!--but it's 100% Gundam in its DNA. One minor quibble about the video: in the US, Gundam Wing debuted before G Gubdam on Toonami. Quite a few people experienced massive whiplash when it debuted, as they were expecting something more like Wing and were unprepared for the shameless bombast of the series.
I love this show to death, simply because it is a love letter to Hong Kong viewer. Seeing Gundam beat the shit out of each other in the middle of the Victoria harbor is just amazing.
It’s kind of a blur for me at this point, but when I was growing up (in the US at least) I remember watching Gundam Wing, G Gundam, OG/First Gundam, and 08th MS Team all around the same-ish time so that’s kinda the first few shows I remember. I also wasn’t old enough to grasp the whole “different/alternate universes” concept for the shows so I was confused as hell going from something like Wing (that actually had a Gundam with damn feathered Angel wings at one point in endless waltz), to the more grounded 08th MS Team (my favorite back then by far), and then G Gundam (at this point I just gave up on how the hell the shows/source material tied together - not realizing they aren’t supposed to lol).
Always been my favorite F you classic to the Gundam formula. Just some good ol Super Robot action and memorable fights. SCREAMING YOUR MOVES OUT DOES ACTUALLY MAKE THEM STRONGER!!
If we get an anime sequel set in Future Century, I want the creators to double down on the ridiculousness like Neo Italy's Pope Gundam (Piloted by a Pope), Neo Mexico's Machete Gundam (like Danny Trejo), Neo America's Playmate Gundam (like the Playboy Bunny), Neo Antarctica's Penguin Gundam (which is built and piloted by hyper intelligent penguins who conquered Antarctica) and Neo Canada's Beaver Gundam (operated by an A.I. that thinks it's a beaver).
I actually really liked the concept of canada's Gundam being a lumberjack, but Grizzly gundam is way under used. I think it would have been better if Graham had lead the Gundam Federation at the end instead of the assassin guy, but oh well lol.
G Gundam had a stratospheric death toll without ever dropping a colony. Most major cities have been destroyed & the people who are left are being turned into robot zombies or dieing in gundam battles.
Absolutely love this show, it was my intro to the franchise as well. The over-the-top delivery of every piece of dialogue (especially Domon and Master Asia) is so awesome. Plus the constant shifts to different areas (the Guiana highlands, Hong Kong, different countries), the absurdity of the Shuffle Alliance, and the goofy designs of the colonies. Man this show was so awesome in so many ways. Absolutely love it. Every time.
This series is an oddball entry, but it is entertaining as crazy over the top action series that does have a few interesting curveballs to it. If I were to comment on the stuff that holds it back, it's that it sometimes chickens out of killing characters. It felt like Master Asia was supposed to die when Domon first used the Burning Gundam, then the people working on the show realized it would be a mistake to kill him off so easily. It looked like Domon's friends died in the lead up to the fight with Master Asia, then they turn up with no real injuries so I don't get what the point of saying they were dead was. Still it when it does the feels right it does it right. The series does deal with the character suffering from the emotional trauma from their encounter with the Devil Gundam instead of brushing off the implications of what they went through. For individual episodes, I love the one where Chibodee is dealing with the evil clown and his mechanics help him through it, then he kicks that clown's ass. That was super cathartic and the dub had a great change when it switched out the song from the Japanese version for America the Beautiful. The Devil Gundam itself is a memorable villain with how its machine that corrupts all it touches. We get that it's capable of thinking but by and large it is a cold unfeeling machine that will not stop until every human is dead or turned into its mechanical slaves.
The first Gundam series I saw was Gundam Wing and then Toonami aired G Gundam later down the line. I loved it as a kid/preteen and I still do, I rewatched the whole thing back in 2019. I lowkey wanted a continuation lol
G Gundam is one of the only Gundam animes i would watch. It gives you what you want, giant robots fighting each other. Glad to see this one finally getting some love.
Eh, I'm in the crowd that prefers emotional storytelling with mechs fighting eachother, thank you very much. In fact, I'm pretty sure my camp is most Gundam fans. It's probably for this reason that I've blacklisted the shit out of the Gundam Build spin-offs (though I WILL watch G considering its unique place in the franchise canon as a Super Robot/Shonen show that gave fans a breather after Victory.).
@@NebLleb build fighter was nice spin-off The ones after are arguably made for cashgrab first and foremost. Don't even get me started on the stupid-ass Build Diver series
@@lyq232 Yeah, I mean Build Fighters could've worked as one and done, but not as an entire spin-off franchise that got more attention than the mainline series after IBO's second season bombed like a motherfucker!
I do like G gundam because it's silly. Yeah I prefer the serious tone of the real robot series as it's usually what gundam does best. However I do like how fun G gundam is. Also if it wasn't for G gundam I won't have the funny movie called robot jox which is funny too with clicheed russians just like in rocky 4 but much funnier. Actually aside of gundam wing, I discovered a lot of the series through my japanese gameboy advance of super robot taisen which are great games about japanese mecha. Because in the 80's all I had was super robots like grendizer, voltron and robotech, who was awesome.
I love how the show pretty much feels like the opposite of Wing. Wing had the Earth lording over the colonies, while G Gundam had the colonies literally use Earth as a fighting ring to determine which colony controlled Earth and the colonies. Wing had a serious tone with humor coming more from the cringe, while G Gundam was inherently silly with some seriousness sprinkled in. Wing was about war and suits armed for it, while the G Gundam suits were armed for dueling to replace war. But, both had a LOT of Gundams and great designs, even if Windmill Gundam was just a joke suit.
Completely agree that the voice acting is what sells it. I still remember how raw the energy was that exuded from Mark Gatha's voice when activating super mode. Even now, rewatching it, nothing feels cheesy about it.
Its a great palate cleanser if you need something between some of the more serious entries in the franchise. I watched it between finishing MSG 1979 and Stardust Memory and starting Zeta and it was a great bit of fun to break up the UC timeline
The "bias" you talk about is how I feel about Gundam Seed Destiny. I never had cable and missed a lot of Wing and G-Gundam. So my main introduction to Gundam was the 5 volume Gundam Seed adaption (I know...weird) and didn't watch a full Gundam series until Gundam Seed Destiny came out in 4-5 DVD chunks. I recgonize the flaws in GSD (although I would argue the remaster does a lot to help both Seed and Destiny) and the missteps..but dang, I still enjoy it even after watching every Gundam series and falling in love with other series. What can you do? Nostalgia man... Also my god, the final 10 episodes of G-Gundam are incredible. Especially the twist in the third act of the series. Great retrospective!
G Gundam had always had a special place in my heart along with Inuyasha. They're two shows I consider my "chicken noodle soups" in terms of comfort. It's the cheesiness for me, the drama, the music, the romance, and the dumb fun action that makes me love it so.
Thanks for making this video! G Gundam was my introduction to the franchise on Toonami as well and it's always good to see it being appreciated for what it is!

Sailor Moon transformation sequence for the pilots, DBZ/Saint Seyia GOLD upgrade, cape being turned into a cocktail dress and the photo meme G Gundam has it all
Yo, when Master Asia's horse went through the control system and got a flight suit lmao
@@comfymagushis final moments were sad too.
I remember myself during Elementary days in my home country reciting what domon says before he does his finishing move "Shining finger". The good old days.
Gundam: Visibly Struggling in the 90s.
Kinnikuman / Ultimate Muscle: "Nah, you can copy my homework, I gotchu fam~"
This toy commercial of mine glows with an awesome power. It’s high sales tells us to make more model kits!
Gundam AU all set, ready, go!
What an amazing toy commercial it is
This needed be like 2 hours long.
ALL CAUSE OF THIS GUY!!! 🤬🤬🤬
The series that saved the Gundam franchise.
People tired of "U.C."
@@TheKyrix82 This kind of sums up how I feel about G and Wing pretty well. Wing really is trying too hard to be deep when it really isn't.
Discovered your channel through this, discovered the franchise through it on Toonami.
Love listening to its score (Domon's Theme, Burning Finger) and all four op/eds (op2 has an official english version!)
I also miss Mark Gatha and his work as Megaman X so much. Wish he'd take a break from being a doctor if the work ever presents itself!
the score of this show is absolutely legendary!
I love your channel man. You have so much great content. Wishing you further success!
No show uses the word “ However “ more than G Gundam.
Lmao this is so true. Just obsessed with saying it.
Drinking Game Time then
G Gundam is definitely one of my favorite Gundam stories.
The Dark Gundam is basically a Gundam version of Majin Buu. I love the reference
@@Yurihyuga766 sorry, but I just don't see any reference to Majin Buu in the Dark Gundam.
@@StareachValcin The evolving, the self recovery… That’s kinda like what Majin Buu does. Ohh and the Dark Gundam absorbs too just like Majin Buu
@@StareachValcin I think the Dark/Devil Gundam actually predates the anime Buu arc by several months.
It has everything you want like robots, fighting, romance, character development, music......I LOVE G GUNDAM
G Gundam is better than Seed. That's the only thing that matters
It's been 10 years, I still need to complete unicorn gundam xD. I would put zeta at number based on all the gundam series I've watched.
Toonami gave us Gundam Wing then G Gundam so it was cool to see this super serious Gundam series then this shounen Gundam series. I love it and the Blu ray set did the show justice
The original Gundam was the best one because it was the only one that didn't devolve into a poorly written romance story.
My favorite thing about this show growing up was that almost every episode Domon was LOSING HIS SHIT!
"Erupting Burning Finger" never fails to make my inner 13 y/o fall over himself with laughter.
Your music choice for this was so good. Gundam Battle Assault theme!!! I mean wow that’s a rare gem. Then halo and Toonami music. Tip of the hat to you sir
The awesomeness of the first alternate timeline!!! Even Wing Gundam made a cameo in the final arc!!!
My first Gundam series, my favorite Gundam series. I love that it still manages to convey the franchise's overall anti war message but in it's own unique super robot way. Long live the King of Hearts, The Gundam of Gundams!
👀 Gundam battle Assault 2! Underrated Game !
Rain was my first anime crush.
Good taste
To be honest:
Simon comes across more like a 70s anime protagonist. Hot blooded and full of passion.
He even has a 70s style loyal girlfriend.
Burning hand, grasp victory, erupting… classic
The end of this series always just has me saying WTF about a million times. Like an actual king of hearts being a final attack, wtf.
1, when you said "all set" mid-sentence one time, i reflexively went "ready? Go!!!"
2, i hear you with the gundam battle assault music in the background =D
This is literally my favorite Gundam all time
I have seen wing I have seen Endless waltz I have seen most of the series as a whole but this one is just so cool and stupid at the same time I just can’t help but love this more
This show was so freaking stupid & I loved every minute of it.
LOVED that you used the Gundam Battle Assault 2 "Main Menu Theme" as BGM xD
Very soon Gundam Wing is coming....!
sooooooooooon
First time i saw gundam was walking into my friends house as a kid and his older brother was watching the original series. The episode where romba rahl dies. Then he showed me patlabor and i was hooked on mecha anime for life.
If you guys love g Gundam or are interested in it. Please give the anime giant robo the day the earth stood still a go. It's a 7 episode 90s ova directed by the same guy. And it is truly legendary. You will not be disappointed
That sounds good, I'll add it to my list!
One of the best OVAs ever created. Its a love letter to animation in Japan.
The sekiha love-love tenkyouken erupting burning finger is my favorite super move of all time
I finished mobile fighter G Gundam the day this video was released and really liked the show and found it to be a lot a fun
Great review of G Gundam, only one thing while G Gundam was released originally first it was the second to be aired in the United States behind Gundam Wing. Still great review.
Yoooo how did i find this channel i thought i was literally one of the few that remembered the gundam series frfr
This video was brought to you WITH THE HELP OF KIYOJI!
G Gundam on adult swim was golden age of anime. Early 2000s
What I love about G-Gundam is that it's every 90's anime cliche rolled into a single show.
Always been my favorite F you classic to the Gundam formula. Just some good ol Super Robot action and memorable fights. SCREAMING YOUR MOVES OUT DOES ACTUALLY MAKE THEM STRONGER!!
As a Mexican, i love the Tequila Gundam. Dude i would rock that MS all day!
Hate to be the one to break the bad news but, Antarctica isn’t a country.
There is a manga side story about domons pupil taking part in the 14th Gundam fight.
And neo japan with domons son or daughter
@@Sayacalbees87 It is in this future
Damn this is a throw back. Nostalgia trip to me and my friends growing spamming shining and burning finger on each other lmaoo
I've discovered your work and it's awesome. Got you a subscriber.
Thank you!
G Gundam had a stratospheric death toll without ever dropping a colony. Most major cities have been destroyed & the people who are left are being turned into robot zombies or dieing in gundam battles.
G Gundam- Gundam Meets Saint Seiya/ Make-up Meets the super robot genre.
Gundam Wing- Gundam Meets Samurai Troopers meets The Backstreet Boys.
G Gundam - Meets Street Fighter (Like tell me I am not the only one who sees the similarities)
I appreciate the Gundam Battle Assault/Master 2 music in the background. I love that game.
The first Gundam series I saw was Gundam Wing and then Toonami aired G Gundam later down the line. I loved it as a kid/preteen and I still do, I rewatched the whole thing back in 2019. I lowkey wanted a continuation lol
G Gundam and 08th MS are top notch
Street fighter with a gundam paint job. I love it personally
20:24 Guyana Highlands are also near where Jaburo is on an amazon tributory. I think that connection is intentional.
@@NebLleb build fighter was nice spin-off
The ones after are arguably made for cashgrab first and foremost.
Don't even get me started on the stupid-ass Build Diver series
@@lyq232 Yeah, I mean Build Fighters could've worked as one and done, but not as an entire spin-off franchise that got more attention than the mainline series after IBO's second season bombed like a motherfucker!
"It wears it's heart on it's sleeve" don't you mean fist... I'll leave now.
This gundam my nerdy anime girl enjoyed watching specially the burning finger part :D
Completely agree that the voice acting is what sells it. I still remember how raw the energy was that exuded from Mark Gatha's voice when activating super mode. Even now, rewatching it, nothing feels cheesy about it.
I love G-gundam. I always thought it was funny that the silliest version of Gundam also contained the best piloting system.
No one gonna talk about that battle assault music?
G Gundam was my favorite! I wish Hulu would get it to stream like all the other Gundams 🥰
Shining finger has been my ringtone for probably over 10 years lol
G Gundam had always had a special place in my heart along with Inuyasha. They're two shows I consider my "chicken noodle soups" in terms of comfort. It's the cheesiness for me, the drama, the music, the romance, and the dumb fun action that makes me love it so.
Thanks for making this video! G Gundam was my introduction to the franchise on Toonami as well and it's always good to see it being appreciated for what it is!
This anime is completely insane. And I love it.
Used to have a DVD with the Allenby episodes on it lol I still love this show and it's my second favorite Gundam entry ever. This video served as a reminder that I do in fact need a MG Burning Gundam kit now so thank you
