It’s also worth considering the Berghaus double sleeping bag. Polar bags are all over priced really, no need to go that far. I use the Berghaus self inflating double, and then the berghaus double sleeping bag, and then the tentbox blanket over the top. We’ve slept in our Tentbox lite right down to -13 up in fortwilliam, Scotland. That was before we got the diesel heater. We only really use it when it gets to about touching zero, but that Berghaus combo….. that’s absolute game changing material right there!! BTW maybe just let your JK CRD run for 10 mins if it’s an extremely cold day, as in like icy cold. It’ll run much less rough, though you maybe know this already.

Gosh…. 21mpg isn’t so hot. I have an 07 JKU with Tentbox lite mounted on a frontrunner full length rack, but I sit at 58mph - and I get 26-29mpg on mine. I also am running on 33” BFG KM3 Muds, with a 3” lift kit, like you I’m aware it’s not the most aerodynamic. I’m putting a classic on mine on Tuesday actually too, the lite is going on to my sankey camping trailer or on to my XJ. Also actually I have my CRD remapped from 177bhp to 215bhp, and used the software to change the auto shift points to suit my driving a little better. Next - I’m deleting the EGR valve, that’ll get me at least another 2Mpg back, as well as putting my 35” BFG AT on again. Lots to do lots to do!!

You both need a Chinese diesel heater so you can pump heat in through the night 👍
